Don't give up the fight

Christen is friends with Maddie and Nicole and has wanted Shawn since she first met him.

Shawn is part of an underground fight club because he is worrying how he's going to pay for his next semester (pre-med) and fighting has become a necessity.

Appearances can be deceiving and money does not always make everything better or easier.

Her parents try to pay him off and then threaten his parents livelihood if he doesn't leave her - what is he suppose to do? How does he decide between his parents and the woman that he loves?

Finally, Shawn gets uncovered!

He has sauntered discretely through the previous novels, almost as if he was lurking in the shadows, hiding. But what exactly was his story? Well stop all the worrying â because this is his story and he is a secret no more!

Christen has had a bit of a long distance lust going on for Shawn or maybe that is the wrong words, she has always been within his grasp, she just never managed to get how she felt out in the open.

Great read

This is a wonderful book. Kirk Douglas is a wonderful writer. I have the hard bound edition and is autographed by Mr. Douglas (when this book was first published in 1992). I would not recommend for anyone under the age of 20 because of the sex that described will make them blush.

Good Story

Just finished a hardcover I picked up used at a book store quite some time ago and just getting around to it. THE GIFT by Kirk Douglas. Yes, that Kirk Douglas of Spartacus and The Vikings fame. He has apparently written two novels -- another one called DANCE WITH THE DEVIL deals with concentration camp survivors.

THE GIFT is a steamy tale of romance, passion and intrigue that sweeps the reader across two continents -- North America and Europe. It's the tale of an orphaned American heiress unsure about her future and her fortune and a rising star of the Portuguese bull ring whose career is cut short by tragic injury. He now trains horses in Lisbon and horse lovers would like this book because of all the horsey details. It is a bit too salacious for my tastes -- shades of Jacqueline Susann or Jackie Collins -- but an interesting storyline, if a bit outrageous.

As good as The Ragmanâs Son

THE GIFT by Kirk Douglas

An heiress, an injured bullfighter, a remarkable horse, all make for a good story and the author puts it all together to bring off a good read. I had read his memoir, The Ragmanâs Son, and enjoyed all of it. This novel shows his ability to give us a good story as well.

His characters are full and their individual stories make sense. He brings them all together and makes one care what happens to them. That is a feat of a good story-teller.

good story

sometimes I just love short audio books. I could continue a series and not feel overwhelmed. this book was just what I needed. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

Sweet Love Story

Poor John and his grand baby wanting mom! He's a tennis coach and even the kids he coaches are trying to set him up on dates. So he gives in, goes on one date who turns out to be a little crazy, prejudice and annoying.

At his parents' neighborhood party, he loses it with his mom and ends up insulting the caterer - Kari

Kari is recently widowed, but before he died, they collected and froze some of his sperm. Which is kinda weird, because he told her to make sure to live on and not wallow, so it would be kinda hard to go on if you're going to have your deceased husbands baby, but, that's what she does. So when she's brought to tears by John's outburst regarding her cupcakes, she's already pregnant - but early in her first trimester.

He quickly apologizes and they immediately have an easy chemistry as they talk and begin the process of getting to know each other.

So, this is a sweet albeit short little love story. You have to put up with some medical inaccuracies and a crazy person, but other than that it is kinda sweet.

The narration is ok, good story teller.

Kate never writes a bad story and Flynn and Mia's story proves that. I recommend any of her books because every one I have read has been awesome. Reed is next and I am fixing to start it.

Series

Kate doesn't write a bad story and this one is no exception. Flynn and Mia were great. The story the dialogue the family. You won't be disappointed but start with the first book in the series.

I wouldn't say it's better than the print version, but it is a different experience.I enjoyed being able to listen to This Is Living, while doing housework.

This book is just over 3 hours, I think it could be done in one sitting if you wanted, however I listened to it over 2 sittings.

First things first, I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. Addy is a human that was adopted into a bear family. Her father wants her to go visit another clan to get them to join together their clans and work together. When Addy gets there, Marcus picks her up. On the way to the meeting, they are involved in a wreck caused by other bears from the clan that doesn't want join clans. Can Addy do what job her father sent her to do? How much help will Marcus be? Well the answers are in this book. Pick it up and enjoy the story.

Quick funny read

So this is a short read that kept me laughing all the way through. As much as I wanted to feel sorry for the guy, and I did at times. It seems he overcame him issue in the end.

This poor guy was born with a very large butt & was constantly teased about it. This cause him to have such a poor self image that he pulled away from social interaction for a time. When he finally gets the nerve up to go out in public again, he takes a trip to an art gallery. Here he sees a woman who is smiling at him and flirting. Will he be able to approach her and take the next step? Will she get to experience the other large gifts he has been blessed with? You will have to read it to see where it goes...

This is a fun read and I loved reading it. I love reading about men who have body image problems, because usually it is a story about a woman with body image problems. I loved the story line and the character development. I loved how Attila is so insecure about his butt, even being so well endowed in front canât balance how insecure he is with his butt. Timely!!!

I read this book 12/30/2016. Hard to believe it was written in 2014. So politically timely. Story of a political staffer who is divorced and having a hard time with the divorce. Trying to Raise 2 teenagers alone. Then her candidate is caught with a woman not 'tis wife. Novel has twists and turns, but an enjoyable read.

3 Â stars. I enjoyed this. Womenâs fiction with a touch of romance. A feel good ending.

Glenda has personal problems causing her to cry, be confused, and have low self-esteem. Her ex-husband had affairs. She begins seeing a therapist. Another author could write about the same thing and make it depressing. I was pleased that this author did not do that.

I liked Laura (Kyahgirl)âs comments: âThis is the story of her getting some help, getting it together, and figuring out that its ok to NOT be perfect... I like stories that focus on women and how strong/smart/flawed/loveable we are.â I agree with Laura. And I was in the mood for this.

I enjoyed the political party machinations. Glenda was a campaign strategist and good at her job. Reading about politicians lies and spins can be depressing, but this was not depressing. It was entertaining, partly because it was about two different candidates being unfaithful to their wives.

The best part for me was a minor part - seeing the âideal kind of loveâ with married couples. I basked in the love that Glendaâs parents had, Chrisâ parents had, and that Glenda and Chris would have. Chris was a fabulous guy who fell in love with her immediately. He had been dating movie stars, but from the moment he saw Glenda, apparently she was âthe real thing.â

MY COMPLAINTS:

I wanted to know what Chris saw in Glenda and why he fell for her. I wanted more relationship development. Instead itâs mostly Glenda having problems, and crying, and Chris being there for her.

I have loved some 1st person books, but itâs rare. This book is 1st person so that brought it down some.
