The scarlet letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne
This is a classic that I have read several times. The narration by Nancy Peterson was absolutely fabulous she did a nice job differentiating between the characters and the narrative. I highly recommend this version. I was voluntarily provided a review copy from the author publisher or narrator
Loved it!
I read The Scarlet Letter in high school. Dry.As.Dust.
Nancy Peterson breathed life and meaning into this old classic. I loved it from the second I heard her delightful rendition of the judgemental women in chapter one!
The narrator is stellar!
This was a "re-read" for me. I have found that I am much more motivated to revisit classics if I listen to an audiobook. I think I loved the story even more this time. It has a Feminist slant to it that, after reading many of the Goodreads reviews, I don't think a majority of people pick up on.
The narrator is stellar. Her pacing is spot on, and her character voices are distinct, but natural sounding. Her words are easily understood, and there were no annoying sounds (lip smacks, or loud breath intakes) present. I will be looking for other books she has narrated.
Scarlet..
Any additional comments?
Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter is about forbidden love, crime, revenge, and is set in the
Puritan community.
Overall, The Scarlet Letter is well-written, thought-provoking, and definitely a book that should be read.
Nancy Peterson did really well with the narration.
