Bianca is a force of nature
The new novel in Ms. Crossâ outstanding Network Series delivers everything weâve come to expect from these books, and so much more.
Bianca Monroe has barely begun to catch her breath following the dramatic events of Antebellum Awakening when war comes to the Central Network, pitching everyone she cares for into danger. It also throws her into mortal danger, but Bianca never did care about her own safety ;).
The stakes have never been higher, and this plays out in more action, more conflict and more interpersonal drama than weâve seen in the Network Series to date. Bianca must deal with betrayal and loss, and come face-to-face with the darkness festering in the hearts of her enemies, in order to save those she holds dear.
Bianca isnât perfect - in fact she's kind of adorably flawed - but she is strong, capable and self-sufficient, and when her family and friends are threatened, you wonât find a more determined, fierce protector. Sheâs a force of nature, one warriors and leaders alike discover they must respect â or get out of her way.
Fierce and Real
If you don't like what you do everyday, you'll live a pretty miserable existence"
Honestly in this series, each book is better than the last! It might even beat out the prequel Mildred's Resistance which I consider one of my favorite parts.
One thing I find very refreshing about this series is that it does not focus too strongly on love-interests. That's not to say there isn't romance, because there is, but ultimately there is so many other things driving the story forward. Bianca is a lovely heroine. She's strong, caring, selfless, independent, stubborn and fierce. She often thinks with her heart, but is still intelligent enough to think so things through. She may be a bit reckless but it's more by choice then due to any sort of lapse in logic.
Though the book itself isn't a classic definition of a love story, I would say it is in its own ways the ultimate love story. It's a tale that tells the story of love between family, love between friends, love of country and love of self. It shows that at the end of the day we all need people in our lives who will protect us, respect us, love us, teach us, fight for us and guide us. Because it is those people that give meaning to our lives. Without them we're not living, we're only surviving.
