Well written easy to understand guide to the blockchain. Enhanced my understanding significantly. The technical section was particularly well explained.
    Well informed...
Very well written and researched book. The author found a good balance between monetary concepts and the technical aspects of the new currency. I started by knowing very little about Blockchain and can claim that I am better informed. There is a good progression in the book building on concepts explained previously, For a technical book, this can be quite challenging.

Title: There Must Be a Pony in Here Somewhere
    Author: Kara Swisher, Lisa Dickey
    Narrator: Bernadette Dunne
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 12 hrs and 13 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 10-31-03
    Publisher: Books on Tape
Ratings: 3.5 of 5 out of 26 votes
    Genres: Business, Commerce & Economy
    Publisher's Summary:
In her acclaimed AOL.com, Kara Swisher chronicled the unlikely ascent of a group of underdog entrepreneurs and their influence on American net culture. This book picks up where the previous one left off, investigating AOL's merger with Time Warner and its aftermath. Journalists Swisher and Dickey have an ear for the comic and an appreciation for the larger-than-life personalities that propel the drama. After the merger, a troubled journey lies ahead both for AOL Time Warner and for its competitors. Microsoft, Yahoo, Disney, and AT&T all circle for position, hoping for the worst. But like the little boy who searches through a pile of horse manure looking for the pony, the companies are vigorously scooping their way forward, often without a clue.

    Critic Reviews:
"A solidly reported account of a merger gone wrong, with an optimistic postscript added on." (BusinessWeek)
    Members Reviews:
Author interjected herself too much into the book
The author was more interested in writing about herself than in telling the story of the AOL/TimeWarner merger. I felt like I was listening to a sorority girl/teaching assistant in the creative writing class at some university.
Sonds like a NY Post editorial
The authors have a very "know it all" attitude, mixing facts with personal oppinons.

    Title: Googled
Subtitle: The End of the World as We Know It
    Author: Ken Auletta
    Narrator: Jim Bond
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 13 hrs and 57 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 11-03-09
    Publisher: Brilliance Audio
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 297 votes
    Genres: Business, Commerce & Economy
    Publisher's Summary:
Inside the Google campus, Auletta finds a culture driven by brilliant engineers in which even the most basic ways of doing things are questioned. His reporting shines light on how Google has been so hugely successful - and why it could slip. On one hand, Auletta reveals how the company has innovated, from Gmail, Google Maps, and Google Earth, to YouTube, search, and other seminal programs. On the other, he charts its conflicts: the tension between massive growth and its mandate of "Don't be evil"; the limitations of a belief that mathematical algorithms always provide correct answers; and the collisions of Google engineers who want more data with citizens worried about privacy.
More than a comprehensive study of media's most powerful digital company, Googled is also a lesson in new media truths. Pairing Auletta's unmatched analysis with vivid details and rich anecdotes, it shows how the Google wave grew, how it threatens to drown media institutions once considered impregnable - and where it is now taking us all.
    Members Reviews:
    Interesting, but Tedious
While the story is interesting and compelling, the fact that this book seems to retell the same general story dozens of time becomes tedious. The focus is on nearly one industry, advertising, with almost nothing on the technical advances that made Google. If this book were half the length it would be much better. Perhaps the abridged version is better. The author repeats the same theme dozens of times, how Google upsets the advertising and entertainment content industry. After about the 10th similar passage on that fact it gets OLD. Its seemed that about 25% of this book is what I was looking for, the story of how the company was built, and its victories and challenges.
I found the reader used odd voice inflection. Play the preview, and be aware of the length. For some reason the reader seemed a mismatch to the book and its story. It becomes confusing because there are SO many similar recounts of interviews, and the reader uses the same speach patter for all. r.
Would be much better at half the length, and is too much a story of the advertising world.
    An exhausting "notebook dump"
That's news-biz terminology for when a reporter just puts everything he knows into a story — is not selective. Ken Auletta is a stellar reporter, but this book is a firehose that is flopping out of control. I feel as though I have re-lived the entire history of Google and modern media in real time. What I had hoped for was something to help me make sense of it.
Audio production could have been better
While the narrator is competent, easy to listen to, and has a voice well-suited for the topic, there are clear artifacts in the audio production.
There are small sections of frequent and quite noticeable "inserts" that are probably the result of error corrections done after the primary recording. Also, there are times when the narrator makes awkward inflections of certain words that seem unnecessary and out of sync.
These are minor issues when you concentrate on Auletta's very fine and interesting narrative.
    Lacks First Mover Advantage
Better written than earlier books on Google, but not the first to tell the story.
This author is unusually professional in his reporting, perhaps even fair and balanced. If you haven???t already read a book on Google, this one is more grown up than most.

Fascinating read provided by a bright individual. There are various different financial insights that are provided to assist individuals on building their own private equity. Overall enjoyable read as well.
From empiric to theory and then back to practice: making money as one of Fifth Era essentials
I know one of the authors of this book, Matthew Le Merle, for years as one of iconic members of Silicon Valley startup ecosystem: investor, advisor, speaker and a overall an inspiring person to interact with.. cold on the surface but very deep, open to new ideas and very enthusiastic inside.. so when this book was announced I couldn't wait to read it and see how Matthew's and his partner Alison's views of the world translate into a written word.
The reading was truly engaging and exposed a whole new dimension to me: essentially Matthew and Alison showed readers the forest behind the trees and explained why the new era of Humankind development (what they call Fifth Era) is an enormous tectonic shift, where lots of ideas and activities are coming together as pieces of a big puzzle.. This era changes the way we work, the way we interact with friends, the way we learn, the way we build new values.. the way we do ANYTHING.. And, of course, this shift creates an amazing opportunity to make money while enjoying something innovative and fascinating.
The book is full of examples and observations that are very convincing: we see where the Fifth Era opportunities start, we see how they can be structured and analyzed (Empiric turning to Theoretical), then we see how this aggregated deep knowledge can be turned back to practical recommendations to people who are willing to take a manageable risk and make the money via early-stage investments.
Highly recommended as one of the must-read books of the caliber comparable to "Art of the Start" and "From Good to Great".
Success in the fifth era? Become an entrepreneur!
    Exponential waves in history
Even the large historical waves start to show exponential effects.Over 2 million years we were hunter gathers (Hunter-Gatherer Era), for over 10,000 years we were farmers (Agrarian Era), for 400 years we were traders (Mercantile Era), for about 200 years we have been industrialists (Industrial Era) and now we are about to move into the Fifth Era.
    Finding meaning in future trends
The book is not far from a blog I wrote a year ago about trying to making future trends meaningful.

    Publisher's Summary:
The government has been seized by a ne'er-do-well rich boy and his elderly henchmen...Our great economic expansion is unraveling faster than a set of Firestones...Our water is poisoned, the ozone's in shreds, and the SUVs are advancing like a plague of locusts...
Remember when everything was looking up? When the government was running at a surplus, pollution was disappearing, peace was breaking out in the Middle East and Northern Ireland, and the Bridge to the Twenty-First Century was strung with high-speed Internet cable and paved with 401K gold?
Well, so much for the future. Michael Moore, the award-winning provocateur behind Roger & Me and the best seller Downsize This!, now returns to size up the new century - and that big, ugly special-interest group that's laying waste to the world as we know it: stupid white men.
Whether he's calling for United Nations action to overthrow the Bush Family Junta, begging African-Americans to place "whites only" signs over the entrances of unfriendly businesses, or praying that Jesse Helms will get kissed by a man, Stupid White Men is Mike's Manifesto on Malfeasance and Mediocrity. Among his targets:
    Critic Reviews:
"The latest appraisal of contemporary American society by a popular and iconoclastic commentator." (Booklist)
"As fulminating and crammed with infuriating facts as any right-wing best seller, as irreverent as The Onion, and as noisily entertaining as a wrestling smackdown." (Amazon.com)
    Members Reviews:
Frustrated: oversimplifing and diluting of issues
Moore makes insightful and valid points in a clear cut and easy to digest manner. As ambitious as he is however, Moore lacks comprehensive argument in the issues at hand by oversimplifing or diluting problems to mere type-specific groups and/or distinctions. His tendency to portray America's problems from a tight box of labels such as Black vs White or rich vs poor is fractioned, contrived, and prejudiced even as they attempt the fight those very things. This can undermine the legitimacy of his arguments and serve as a barrier for acknowledgement. Post-BFC, Moore has earned a great amount of authority over what will typically be seen as the "Liberal/Leftist" cause (especially to younger generations), with this added responsibility, it is essential that he reflect a more encompassing view of our society's problems and their vehicles. This audio piece is well worth listening to as long as it does not become the say-all of our solutions: a good introduction.
I Wish Moore Himself had Narrated This
What prevented me from giving this book a higher rating was the narration, which seemed to me to frequently miss the tone of delivery that Moore himself tends to impart to his text.
This doesn't make it bad, just not what you might expect to hear, if you're fond of Moore's films or TV Nation or the like.
I found that I didn't get the feeling of "What the hell's going on here?" humor that I was hoping to.
Why didn't Michael Moore read this himself?
The content of this book is great. Explosive, funny, provocative. I just whish Michael Moore had read the book himself for this audio version. His personality plays such a great role in delilvering his humor.

    Title: Wicked Zionism
    Author: Gary Anderson
    Narrator: Kenneth Lee

Length: 2 hrs and 9 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 03-26-14
    Publisher: Gary Anderson
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 8 votes
    Genres: Business, Commerce & Economy
    Publisher's Summary:
Zionism is a semi-secret political movement that is far more powerful than most Americans even know. Our nation is being captured by the Zionists! Patriots, Christians, people of all religions, and all US citizens must be aware of the Zionist movement that puts at risk our financial freedoms and personal rights guaranteed by the constitution. Zionism is not what you think. It is very different than simply securing the homeland of Jews.
One of the goals of Zionism is a worldwide digital currency. This ebook discusses Bitcoin in that context. Even the introduction negative interest rates is a related subject that Larry Summers is pushing for.
Anti-Zionism and Anti-Semitism are not the same thing. Zionism is a political movement. This book discusses this movement, its impact on world affairs, especially on the United States, and its impact on our political parties. My natural father was Jewish and I am adopted. I oppose singling out any race for blame in the political sphere.
I repeat, I oppose singling out any race for blame in the political sphere, ever! There are Jews that oppose Zionism, even the right of Israel to exist! There are Gentiles who love Zionism and never saw a false flag they didn't like.
Most people accept, or are resigned to, the right of Israel to exist according to United Nation accords, but seek a two state solution to end the occupation. That solution could include boycotting Israel, making alliances with those Israel counts as enemies, etc. Israel is a one race state, by and large. It does not reflect the values of the United States, and some want many races represented in a one state solution. Israel seems to oppose both solutions, and therefore behaves wickedly towards allies like the chief one, the United States. Just how Zionism impacts the United States is explored in this audiobook.
I have corresponded with Noam Chomsky on this subject and have come away from that discussion with sharp but cordial disagreements about the reach of Zionism in the USA. There is a liberal Zionism and a conservative Zionism. True liberals and true conservatives are being used by the Zionists' agenda without full knowledge of that agenda. It is crucial that a new consensus be formed as to what is important, the rights of Americans. Americans must seek to protect their rights, of free speech, freedom of religion, gun rights, blogging rights, from infringement of those rights by the New World Order Zionist agenda.

A well written quick reference guide to social & business etiquette for North American business persons traveling to India. As it references India as a whole opposed to focusing in on specific regions, I recommend taking the time to work with and appreciate the customs & culture from your colleagues directly - although a great book to help prevent obvious faux pas, nothing replaces learning a different environment through experience.

Intersection of social change and business value
Finally a book that shows doing social good isn't just a PR strategy, its a business strategy that can drive social change AND generate profits. Author Jason Saul offers novel ways to think about responsible business, giving readers many largely unknown examples of innovative companies driving business growth through social change. What is important about the book and all the very tangible examples, is that the companies presented pioneered a business strategy that leveraged social change as a way to drive profitable business growth. It was part of the core business. It was not charity. Nor was it traditional CSR initiatives - many of which aren't tied to business objectives. The businesses showcased developed products and/or services that added real value to society, helped to create social change AND was tied to business objectives, profits and growth.
Saul navigates through 5 social innovation strategies that businesses should consider, describing how firms can create revenues through sub-market products and services; entering new markets through backdoor channels; building emotional bonds with customers; developing new pipelines for talent; and influencing policy through reverse lobbying.
This is a must-read book. It's new thinking about social issues as corporate strategy. It provides a practical and actionable framework to generate real business value through positive social change.
The next evolution of business and social good with winning examples and a prescription for success
This book is all about the successful combination of business goals and social good. Saul demonstrates how corporate social responsibility, often disconnected, does not have to be that way. In fact, with this book, he shows how several firms have aligned CSR with their business goals and delivered astonishing value benefiting society as well as employees and shareholders.
Furthermore, Social Innovation Inc. lays out a clear prescription for success. If your game is innovation... or you plan on starting a business or shaping the strategy of the one you are in, this book is for you.
    Economic Resource
Excellent learning material for an economic class. I like the fact that it is not too big like a lot of my course material. I am in my fourth week of usage and find pertinent information for my studies.
    Required for Class
I had this book because I needed for a class, but I definitely enjoyed reading it. Saul brings out very valid ways to approach corporate social responsiblity for any business model.
