I don't like when a story leaves you hanging. I like Blake's writing style. I have read several of his books. I want to know what happens to these characters.

Ending fell short

Although the book started off slow it did turn out to be okay. My problem with the story is the ending, it fell short. There are too many open questions. It ended as if there's going to be a part 2, will there be?

This girl's life has been a mess from the beginning,her mother and her sister beat on her everyday,when she finally escapes home she gets kidnapped and almost raped,when she gets saved from that she gets into another fight and shoots someone, then she finds out that a chick she considered a good friend lies and says she saw the shooting,she goes to jail for 30 days for contempt of court and on the 29 th day gets stabbed,have to read part 2

Must read

I rarely write a review but I just finished part 1 and two within 5 hours This book was amazing it was fast paced and you never knew what was going to happen next. Nichole is a true survivor I was glad her sister told her to leave but I couldn't respect her because as the oldest she should have stood up for her sister. In part 3 I would like to know why the dad stayed away when he knew what was going on and why he didn't have eyes on his daughter since he clearly is connected and where did this Santos come from because he could have been had Nichole when she was staying home I can not wait for part three don't keep us waiting long

Great Read

It was a Good read I would say. Some of the parts in the book made no sense as why Necole's Mother & Sister hated her so much. I'm glad she had Murda & Amber there for some type of support. She has had a rough life. I can't believe her sister Sabrina kept all those birthday cards away from her all these years. I can honestly say it probably was because of their mother.

Deception, betrayal, physical/mental abuse, there's only so much you can take before you SNAP

Jealousy can cause the ones you trust to become your worst nightmare. Have you ever heard the saying"can't win for loosing" well that is the life of Nicole. Another saying that comes to mind as I read this book was "keep you friends close but your enemies closer". This young lady dealt with physical and mental abuse I had never imagned...but what blew my mind was who is was that was behind it, wow I seriously didn't see that coming. For me this book was a page turner, I didn't sleep untill I finished. I kept waiting till the good part, the part about Nicole winnng and getting to experience love and happiness.

Wow!!!

One of the best books starting with book 1, then book 2 and 3, waiting on 4, I couldn't stop so I finished them all in a week, keep them coming!!! Great story.

Worst performance ever!!

The book itself is great. The story line will keep you guessing but the reader/performance was beyond terrible. This writer should truly hire better talent like he did in book #1. I will read other books from this writer but I will NEVER buy another book featuring this performer.

The story line was very good. The narration was god horrible. The first mistake I just said ok. The second and third I was really done. Please get someone who can read. I can only give the book 1 star because the narration was so bad.

However, there were a few more things that stood out in this installment. And they are unfortunately HUGE negatives. I still enjoyed the story even though it was so busy.

Pro-

The campy over the top action packed drama continued.

The new cons:

The sound effects were so very overwhelming. The book would have been better served without any of it. They were not employed correctly.

The sounds of kissing ( no matter which sets of lips) were cringe worthy. I tried to fast forward in making out or sex scenes. They turned my stomach. Sorry. The scream sound effects were jarring.

Side note-Iris was a piece of work wasn't she? Sadly that type of co-dependency does exist and can be deadly.

The story itself moved along nicely. It kept a steady pace, had plenty of action, drama and all the makings of a series that could go beyond its urban label.

However, the low rating is for the lack of proofing employed from a grammatical or content perspective. There were incorrect words used which made some of the dialogue hard to believe.

While this narrator's sleepy or dry delivery did the audio no favors, I can only wonder if her pronouncing words like "clit" as "click" was her error or what the author wrote. I dreaded any sex scenes. She did mispronounce other common words that could have been caught or corrected with a rehearsal. There are also moments where a line is repeated as if the error was caught so the entire line was repeated as a correction.

All in all, I have enjoyed books 1 & 2.

Good story...

The story was engaging. I love the contrast between the brothers but most i love that they didnt lose sight of being there for each other . At the end of the day we allhave to grow up its just too bad that all that had to happen before Chance got himself together.

This was a great short story about a set of twins. It's the urban story of Cain and Able - what I enjoyed was the lesson learned albeit too late.

HORRRRRRRRIBLE NARRATOR

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I wouldn't recommend the audible version to my worst enemy due to the horrible job that the narrator did. It definitely took away from the actual story itself...YES that's how bad Cee Scott did.

Would you be willing to try another one of Cee Scotts performances?

Heck no! Never again! If she is the narrator, I'd prefer just to read the book instead of listen unfortunately.

Cee Scott is by far the worst narrator. The story was really good, but it took we a week to finish listening to it because of her horrible reading!!!

What waste of a credit

I'm so over this book I can't even write a full review. I'm not sure what was worse the story or the performance. But let's start with the performance. It sounds like it was read by a inexperienced community theatre actor who's treating this like her "big break". How do you over act in an audiobook. Then the storyline. There was several eye rolling moments when I thought wtf, seriously? Badly written story with no substance. With that said I applaud the author for even trying.

First, u wanna give a special praise to the narrator iikane. She is very good at bringing this story to life. Now, this book was a little frustrating. Tyler Blake got on ALL of my nerves. The way she jumped from man to man made me wanna shake her! The story definitely had some moments. Overall I would recommend the book.

good but missing excitement

I enjoyed this book but I think it's mostly because the narrator was fantastic. the book was good but it was definitely missing excitment , nothing really happened other than getting into bad abrusive relationships. the book started out good, but I was a bit confused at the end and felt like I didn't gain anything from reading/listening to this book, it sort of felt like I had no idea what the plot of the book was. However I plan to listen to another Joy King book, but if that book lacks excitement and that's just her writing style, this author won't be for me.
