Micro Distilleries in New York State Fascinate Readers and Drinkers

What, you may ask, does a Utah Mormon do with a book about small distilleries in New York State? Well, I happen to be a writer, and I am already considering how to work some of this information into some of my novels. To sum up quickly, changes in the law allow New York residents to go commercial with spirits in much smaller quantities than was previously required, and to treat them as farm produce rather than as alcoholic beverages. The result has to be an extremely varied crop of beverages, many of which sounded interesting. The only thing that concerns me--and this is a concern with the liquor rather than with the book--is that absinthe is being produced. Absinthe is well known to seriously damage the brain when taken in even moderate amounts, and I would hate to see the Paris experience with absinthe repeated in New York. France long since outlawed absinthe entirely, and its major ingredient, wormwood, was declared unfit for human consumption. But the book itself is interesting, and if you use alcoholic beverages, and live in or intend to visit New York, you are likely to have a use for this information.

A very interesting book

I thought this book was very interesting. I liked learning about the different distilleries and the craft spirits. It was nice that there were recipes included that you can use these spirits in. A fun book for anyone interested in spirits. Even though I do not drink all that much I still thought the book was a good one. This book would also make a good coffee table book.

Unique & Well Written!

What a unique and well written book! A great gift for the spirit connoisseur, to delve into the world of the small distilleries through the the great state of NY. Definitely a great coffee table book and there are recipes that you can try. This book an be a guide to some great gifts for the holidays or otherwise. A book ad a bottle! Enjoy!

A thoughtful account of local distilleries

This book is very well laid out, from each distillers history to the drink recommendations. It is refreshing that the book is written from the author's perspective, providing a more personal and honest feel. There was an old sitcom episode about a coffee table book, well this is displayed as my bar book.

Yes, this is an amazing story. So well-written. As another reviewer wrote, Joe Profit should be a household name. Perhaps this book will help make that so. Fields of Success is a wonderful gift for anyone who loves the story and inspiration of human drama. I would especially give this to young men who are looking to make the most of their future.

Awesome motivational Story

Matthew Nebel writes in a compelling way, helping the reader appreciate the success, motivation, and hard work of Joe Profit. It seems to me like Joe Profit should be more of a household name, I wish I would have heard about him before.

Present for my grandson and he really liked it!

It served its purpose!

This book was ok! I read it with my 10 y/o and he enjoyed it but I thought it was a bit much. It was a little boring . But hey, it served its purpose.....it got my son eager to read more.

What was most disappointing about Daniel Alefs story?

This was a collection of facts he found online. It really tells nothing about Mark Zuckerberg. Its like listing someone read a timeline. Very boring and non informative.

How could the performance have been better?

Actually do interviews with Mark Z. Do not just search the internet and write what you find.

Really a waste of time and money. I hope others do not watch this book. Its a great subject manner but covered very poorly. I hope someone else coverts this person and writes a much better book like was written for Steve Jobs.

A great listen, was fantastic to hear the story behind many of the situations the media may have twisted in the past. What a great character, 100% recommend people listen to this.

Overall it was OK.

I was looking forward to reading this book. It starts of and it was fantastic I was looking forward to the next time I could listen. From the middle to the end it was up and down. I wanted to finish it but the story was kinda boring. In the second half there was a lot of talking about matches Roy had as manager at Sunderland that I felt was filler. I didn't care for this and felt it was not needed in such detail.

I finished the book and didn't hate it. I am neutral on it. I hoped for more.

What did you like most about The Second Half?

I like the insight, a few things I didn't know. But most of all the honesty.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked listening to Roy's take on life after Manchester United. His reflections on his time at Sunderland and what he learned at Ipswich. Most of all his contentment and enjoyment as No.2 for Ireland.

What does Roy Keane and Stephen Hogan bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you had only read the book?

I have to say I would have preferred that Roy read the whole book.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Laughed most of the time - it's a great story. I enjoyed his achievement at Sunderland.

He's simply a good bloke. Complex character, flawed like everyone.
