Joey is enjoying the simple life of the village when adventure arrives at his doorstep in the form of three giants, Ig, Og, and Ug. With Peppy the Puppy, a dog of uncommon wisdom, as his guide, Joey is soon on the trail of giants and other remarkable people in this delightful series of tales. On his journey Joey develops a friendship with Nuria, Raul, and Isabella, children of the peregrine, skilled in healing and music. Together they learn many things: That all life and every place are sacred, that illusion comes in many forms, that sometimes you can be in two places at the same time, and that small people working together can overcome large problems. On the Trail of Giants: Ig, Og, Ug, and Other Tales is the first in The Peregrine Way, a three-part series that will follow the lives of Joey, Nuria, Raul, and Isabella as they come of age in a world of dark challenges and ancient beauty.
Members Reviews:
Morals and lessons promote higher level thinking.
This is a magnificent book of tales that I recommend for all ages. Although the book is masked as a story for children, it contains lessons and morals for any adult that cares to embrace it. The book promotes higher thinking towards the big topic of how others should treat fellow humans and Mother Earth. It causes the reader to ask himself, have I been selfish lately, and, is there more I can do to benefit the earth and others?
The elements of fantasy in the story keep the big issues lighthearted and help the reader connect with the characters.
This is a great book for a teacher to bring into the classroom.
Imagination
Great bedtime story. Wonderful way of encouraging students and children to use their imagination. My students and children loved it! Thanks for sharing.
Who wouldn't love this trio of Giants
On the trail of Giants is ostensibly a collection of bedtime stories - but like the Grimm Bros output, they work on many levels, and can be appreciated by readers and listeners of any age. Intricate twists and turns not only describe the plots of the stories but also the clever and surprising language in which they are told. I loved this book and so did my daughter, age 5. These stories are crying out for an audiobook version, and I hope plans for that format are afoot.
