He's big. He's funny. He's not real. Or IS he? This clever twist on The Boy Who Cried Wolf is told from the point of view of an unexpected narrator and, through snappy text, demonstrates the value of telling the truth, the importance of establishing trust, and (of course!) the possibility that a beast you created to get attention can become a real-life friend.

I thought it would be great to get for my son

My son has a problem with lying and story telling, and after a child in my class brought in the book and answered lots of questions about the story and the lesson behind it, I thought it would be great to get for my son.

grandson loves it. requested many re-readings

A book with a moral and a sense of humor - good adaptation of a classic tale!

The book is good quality and the colors in the illustrations are very vibrant. It's a quick and easy read and I am sure he will love it. I bought this for my 4 year old nephew because he loves a good bedtime story. He has been very ornery and less than honest in his interactions lately. My thought is, maybe a book with a moral and a sense of humor will hit home with him. Even if it doesn't solve this dishonesty phase he's going through, I can tell by thumbing through it that he will love the story.

Members Reviews:

best book ever

I like the book so much because . The water hundreds of things. And m m m m m m

Quick, cozy read

Tate's so mad after her first week at a new school that she just has to run off her anger. But then she steps through the rotted-out cover of an old well and lands in the water -- water that, it turns out, has special magic. Suddenly Tate's thinking, reading, and planning faster than she ever has before. But the magic has a downside, too -- one that will require all three of her siblings' help to conquer.

This is a quick, cozy read with enough suspense to keep children turning the pages but not enough to scare. What it lacks in humor it makes up for in creativity, and the siblings' relationships and Tate's love of books are admirable. While this is the fourth in the series, it stands on its own quite nicely, with few references to earlier adventures.

A fast paced and thrilling adventure

When Tate fell into a deserted well and drank some of its water, she was obsessed with anything that is liquid. With the magic in her, she was able to perform all things that were impossible to her earlier and felt amazing. However, when her brother and sister also drank the water and almost ended in fatal accident, and she saved them just in the nick of time, she understood that magic could be disastrous. Parents could use this book to illustrate to their children that although it is great to have magical ability, nevertheless, magic need to be controlled.

As a mother of 3 young children and with the experience as an elementary teacher, science researcher, writer and publisher ofmany publications for kids, Kate Cruise has learned to listen & to interact with kids.

It is a book series inspired by kids and for kids!

Kids learn about new and interesting facts so that a combination of both the curious and the new materials and facts together with the visual aspect of the pictures.

Children are entertained with the coolness factor of the discovery book plus they learn some new and a little bit harder to retain facts simultaneously with the cool stuff and this is how the child is going to retain all of the information. The discovery books work in synchronization with the brain and not against the brain like some dull textbooks try to teach things.

It is a fact that kids just love these discovery picture books about weird animals and weird stuff that the animals are doing because they love the coolness and grooviness factor of the books. Parents are super satisfied because their children show interest for things on a higher level of interest as usual.

The discovery concept of this horse book for example transforms a little bit more dry information and facts into brain friendly information that the child will retain & that the child will be able to use as active information later on.

This horse discover book is brain friendly and works in synchronization with your child's brain not against it.

Your child will even remember facts and information that it would not have retained with a traditional textbook.

Getting a child involved in the learning and discovery process is key and once your child gets started with raising all kinds of questions, you actually have done a great job as a parent because the active and creative process of raising questions independently is where intelligence starts to develop and grow into a totally new dimension.

The wisdom that eludes modern courts

I love this story. I use it in late November-early December in my primary music classes when we sing songs from various winter celebrations. My students are wholly unfamiliar with Judaism, and I'm very careful not to proselytize, but they are intrigued by the menorah, the imagined smell of latkes, and the dreydl game. The illustrations of this book give a sense of candlelight in the darkness.

In the Month of Kislev

I loved this story and I highly recommend it. While it does deal with the Jewish holiday of Hannakah, it also is a much more meaningful story about kindness to others.
