    best business book
One of the best business books I have picked from Audible. And a good buy because you get two. The first book has 101 mistakes women make. This sounds like it might be tedious (or negative) but not so. For each the author gives an example. And then a tip (what to do) to contrast with the mistake.
I can't say if men will like this book. For me, a woman who has worked for over 30 years, I learned something from every one of the 101 mistakes. None of the examples or tips are lame. I really recommend this.
The second book "Don't Get Rich" is also very good.
    Take it lightly
A lot of the tips are useless outside of the USA. Great first self help book (I'm from Canada)
    Basic, but telling
I had "Nice Girls Don't Get the Corner Office" on my shelf, unread, for years, so finally purchased the audiobook file. The information seems basic at first blush, but when put into context, the Coaching Tips are priceless. Having never been in some of these situations (fortunately), I now have some idea of how to react should they ever arise - and have a book to reference after I have gone down Ebbinghaus' forgetting curve. Worth the time listening.
    Nice Girls don't get ahead
I liked the book and would recommend it for working women to read it ,so as get ahead and not sabotage their careers
    On
In the second half of Dr.Frankel's title, "N.G.D Get Rich" she is already in a high paying position and the corp has paid her way through school to get her a degree. (yes, she did the work, but most of us dont have flexible high paying prestigious jobs who will put us through a prestigious school.) Altho i did't care for the underlying message ("just play dirty and WIN") i did appreciate her coaching about managing finances and there being no excuse that women can't or shouldn't get rich by their own volition. In this, investing has no 'glass ceilings' and doesn't discriminate. She's right. Learn to invest. It can be done with as little as $100 and she will advise on the best methods, plus get your mindset in the right direction.

    Excellent
I believe that if you use half of the information in this book you will be so successful. I have listened to this book three times in one week.., each time I get something amazing from it. I have been applying the principles to my life and have seen changes in only 1 week. I am looking forward to seeing how this will play out. The book is well articulated and very easy to listen to. It is inspiring. I will read (listen ) to other audio books written by Jack Canfield. I look forward to learning from him...
Could Replace a Bookshelf of Motivational Books
Being a motivational book junkie for the past 20 years or so years, it is nice to run into a book that doesn't repeat the same message over and over and over again--"Groundhog Day" style.
Mr. Canfield covers old ground in new ways--and introduces some powerful success strategies. There are plenty of real world examples showing how these techniques have worked for Mr. Canfield and others. The book has the same upbeat, inspirational, unabashedly warm style of the "Chicken Soup for the _______ Soul" books.
I hope that if you decide to download this book, applying the principles will help you to realize your yet undreamed dreams.
On second thought, I hope you realize your yet undreamed dreams, even if you don't download this book :)
    Good but no great revelations
As a great fan of Jack Canfield I had high expectations for this program and was not disappointed.

    Genres: Business, Career Skills
    Publisher's Summary:
In the more than 15 years since its publication, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People has become an international phenomenon. Tens of millions of people in business, government, schools, and families have dramatically improved their lives and organizations by applying the principles of Stephen R. Covey's classic book.
The world, though, is a vastly changed place. The challenges we all face in our relationships, families, professional lives, and communities are of an entirely new order of magnitude.
Being effective as individuals and organizations is no longer merely an option. But in order to thrive, innovate, excel, and lead in what Covey calls the new Knowledge Worker Age, we must build on and move beyond effectiveness. The call of this new era in human history is for greatness; it's for fulfillment, passionate execution, and significant contribution.
Accessing the higher levels of human genius and motivation in today's new reality requires a sea change in thinking. The crucial challenge of our world today is this: to find our voice and inspire others to find theirs. It is what Covey calls the 8th Habit.
So many people feel frustrated, discouraged, unappreciated, and undervalued, with little or no sense of voice of unique contribution. The 8th Habit is the answer to the soul's yearning for greatness, the organization's imperative for significance and superior results, and humanity's search for its "voice". This groundbreaking audiobook of next level thinking gives a clear way to finally tap the limitless value-creation promise of the Knowledge Worker Age.
Covey's new audiobook will transform the way we think about ourselves and our purpose in life, about our organizations, and about humankind. Just as The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People helped us focus on effectiveness, The 8th Habit shows us the way to greatness.
NOTE: On the cover and in the introduction, the audio mentions that a free bonus DVD is included. It is NOT included with this audio; however, it is available for free at the following FranklinCovey website: www.StephenCovey.com.

    Next level understanding!
I am a professional leadership teacher and speaker. I have studied leadership for 10 years. Once every few years a book comes along that raises the understanding of even the most avid student of leadership. This book accomplishes that task and more. Honestly, I have found most of Stephen's books since 7 Habits to be somewhat prosaic. This book is something entirely different. I urge you to not just get the audio version, though. Invest in the book and then digest the book. The re-reads contain many defining moments for students, parents and business leaders.
It really does take it to the next level
Upfront, I'll admit to being a big fan of Stephen Covey. That said, I wouldn't consider myself a disciple or anything and I think I can write an objective review. This is without a doubt, life changing material for those who are ready to understand it. The 8th Habit is all about taking us from independence to interdependance on a whole new level.
I found it to be particularly relevant for today's world and today's challenges.

Great book, written version has many useful forms for the listener who would like to go further in your application of the principles provided. The book is great for someone who wants to get down to the issues and make changes. Not filled up with stories, or personal accounts. Good hard outlines, clear instruction, solid reasoning, good research. Well worth the investment
    Great Book for Change
One of the better books I have read that are very descriptive in how too change your life on a daily basis. John Maxwell has always been an easy person too listen too (or read) and this book is another great one. His teachings are brilliant, and very easy too follow and take notes too. Highly Recommended!!!
    Solid work
First of all, you won't be disappointed by purchasing this book. Previously, I've listened to "Roadmap for Success". It changed my life for good. If "Today Matters" was my first John Maxwell book, it would make nearly the same effect. The only negative thing is overemphasize of religion. It's just my opinion of course.
    Classic Maxwell
You can always count on John Maxwell to give you a roadmap that is easy and logical to follow, and this book is no different. With this book, he broadens the typical list of things you might use as anchors in your life (you know the standard five -- family, work, financial, civic, and social)-- and thereby bring a broader set of tools to help align life with goals. He also provides good examples from his own life to bring it all together. Another good Maxwell book -- if you liked somd of this other books, you will like this one too.
LOVED IT!! THIS denotes what's next...
Definitely a must read if your searching that something that will pull it all together in your life.

    classic Zig
This is a classic Zig: the Texas "twang"; the wealth of stories; the glib cleches. Outstanding motivational content; very positive and inspirational. If you like self-dev and inspirational books, you'll love this one.
    Classic Ziglar
Would you consider the audio edition of Zig Ziglar's Secrets of Closing the Sale to be better than the print version?
I haven't read the print version, but I loved hearing Zig himself. This audio version isn't Zig narrating, but rather audio of him "giving" his presentations. It is accompanied by a narrator who introduces and summarizes each segment.
    Any additional comments?
This "book" is a wonderful compilation of how to close the sale, given in excellent Zig fashion with anecdotes, illustrations and examples throughout. Great listen!
    A "Must Have"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Every aspect of this audiobook is relevant and impactful if you are in professional selling. Ziglar uses real life scenarios with each closing technique and I could identify with each example. Outstanding!
What did you like best about this story?
There was never a dull moment while listening to Ziglar. He delivers the entire book with enthusiasm!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
    No
    Any additional comments?
This is a book you listen to many times.
    eh
i've heard a lot of good things about zig but in the end, it was just too much hype and not enough performance. the strategies are very easy to see through which would annoy the prospect (i've tried them)
    Maybe for a car dealer
I really wanted to like Zig Zigler. I have heard so much praise about his tapes and seminars. I found his stories amusing but lacking in substance. His tactics are loud, obnoxious, and overbearing. If someone tried to sell to me with these tactics I would take my money and run the other way.
This book may apply more for someone in a direct sales environment, car sales, vacume cleaner sales, timeshares. But I sell embroidery, this won't work for me at all.

Whether selling, managing, job hunting, negotiating, pitching an idea, applying for law school, joining a new group, or on your knees with a marriage proposal, the secret of success is based on connecting with other people. And the most powerful new idea for making connections is revealed, step by step, in Nicholas Boothman's breakthrough program of rapport by design. Easily learned, it will help you make the best of any relationship's most important moment: those first 90 seconds.
Never again let shyness get in the way of an appointment or interview. Or leave the making of an important contact to chance. Or find yourself tongue-tied or distracted in social situations. The key, according to Boothman and his plan for face-to-face communication, is simple: the way to make a person like you is to make yourself be like that person, if only for the 90 seconds or less it takes to establish rapport. Learn the power of a Really Useful Attitude, the secrets of voice tone and body language, the difference between "opening up" words and "closing down" words. And reinforcing all of these skills is knowing how to read another person's sensory preference; most of us are Visual people, some are Kinesthetic, and a few are Auditory. So when you say, "I see what you mean" to a Visual, you're really speaking his or her language. And then you're on your way.

    A wealth of information
I will listen to this over and over. There is so much good, concrete information here. Techniques, explanations, how-to's, etc. It's much better than I even hoped it would be. I have already gotten along better with the new people I am meeting thanks to the guidelines in this book. I'm so very glad I bought it. It's going to be a treasured title in my audio library.
    Theory meets practice, and works
This was my first Audio book and I scored a home run with the choice. It draws heavily on key theories from the world of NLP, yet makes them relevant with a skillful blend of real world example and exercises. Once you get past the intro chapter, every following chapter arms you with powerful tools that unravel the subconscious art of effective communication. From how to break the ice with a stranger, to how to deal with an irate customer, the Author systemically builds up your skill base to become an effective listener, observer, influencer & communicator.
I have previously been on a 2-day intro to NPL and came away with many of the same tools delivered by this book. So considering that course cost me Three Hundred pounds I would say this book also represents excellent value for money.
Although, this book gives you the tools to make a difference, it will not make up for the fact that you may be dressed like a bag lady/man, have breath that would stop a stampeding elephant in its tracks or a have the depth of personality that has to be measured at the molecular level.

    Good follow-up to
David expands on the basics that he laid out in his first book "Getting Things Done." So, if you enjoyed his first book and found his methods useful, you'll also get a lot out of "Ready for Anything." However, since this book build on the previous one. I would highly recommend listening to "Getting Things Done" first.
    Excellent follow-up
This is a follow-up from David Allen's first book "Getting things done". I highly recommend both, but this book makes better sense if you read "Getting things done" first.
"Getting things done" tells all the techniques to get things done. "Ready for anything" is a collection of essays about how to make sure the system works better, and thoughts about how to organize yourself and how to think about this. This is one of the audiobooks I listen to the most, as the different thoughts David Allen has about things becomes useful for me as I learn to organize my life, my stuff and my thoughts.
My advice: Buy "Getting things done" first. Use it for a month or three, then buy this one. And re-listen to it every six months. Or when you need some advice or inspiration for your life.
    Rendundant Material
This is a good book, especially if you have not read the original "Getting Things Done." I felt there was a significant amount of overlap between the two books, and generally preferred the delivery in the original better.
If you are new to Dave Allen, you might like "Getting Things Done" better. If you are already a follower, you might scan through the pages of the print book for content review before committing to the audio book.
Zen and the Art of Getting Things Done
Getting Things Done, on the same subject, is a much more useful and practical treatment of the same themes. Ready for Anything is no more than an extended introduction, which is disappointing because GTD can get you on the right track to actually doing what RFA merely celebrates.
    Not as good as GTD...
I really wanted to love this book, but I found it difficult to get through. Not so much for the level of the content, but more so for the lack of focus, organization (ironic) and the deadpan delivery. There's a bunch of good advice in here - it's just not as well organized and leaves you with less of an action plan than the excellent 'GTD'. This book sounds like the dumping ground for all the extras bits and pieces that didn't fit into the first book. I'd pass on this and save your credit for something else.

Took a while, but Scott eventually delivered
Where does Fierce Conversations rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
In the genre of Self-Improvement, this book is probably toward the top-middle of my list. Not my favorite but really good advice.
I must say that it took too long to get to the meat of the book. I was on the verge of giving up on it when she started to get into the applicable parts. Also, the book contains really useful strategies that are well laid out when you get to them, but she mentions them and defends them as if you are familiar with the tactics first, and then describes how to do them and what they are later (see "mineral rights" in the book). If I've bought a book on Fierce Conversations, I don't want to read half of it just to be convinced of its importance. If it's important, I'll keep reading. The book could have been better edited and arranged.
What other book might you compare Fierce Conversations to and why?
I'd compare this to Mindset by Carol Dweck. About that level of insight and really a book about practical ways to be more effective and happy. Mindset had a bit more hard science to it with studies and research driving it, whereas Fierce Conversations is driven by the anecdotal (but powerful) experiences of Susan Scott.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
Not that the book is a story, but the Narration was generally well paced. I find that author-narrator is usually a bad idea. "Take of all the hats and write books please!" is my usual sentiment. She comes off a little school-marmy, but she's easy to understand and keeps you involved.
    Incredible!
Would you listen to Fierce Conversations again? Why?
Absolutely! This book really helped me breakthrough some barriers I've had with difficult conversations. I've always been one to sugar coat things, never wanting to make someone feel bad. The author helped me understand that straightforward honesty and accountability is where it's at... I've found the principles to be tried and true.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
    The entire volume.

    Better than a 5!
I own well over 1000 self-help books and CDs. In addition, as a public speaker, I spend at least $40,000 per year going to advanced training. THIS IS THE BEST OF THE BEST! I purchased the book which describes in detail the process to use to jump start a better life for you. In just three short weeks, I have accomplished goals I struggled with for months. Wow! Wow! Wow! I recommend this product to anyone who is serious about changing their level of consciousness and therefore, their level of success in this world! Follow the process outlined to your success!
    This is it.
I bought this thinking okay another self help book; let me see what it can?t do. To my surprise this is probably the last and only self help book I?ll ever need. From a business and personal point of view, it's a book ahead of its time. We live in a I want it yesterday, multi-task society where we never seem to get enough done. This book tells you how to slow down, stop worrying and complete one task at a time. There is no such thing as multi-tasking. It teaches how to unselfishly love you. It tells you how to stop ridiculing yourself for making mistakes because mistakes are just another opportunity to get it right. This is a phenomenal book.
    Truly a Classic
This is a self-help book that will stand the test of time. Maltz reveals sometime that is very profound: The things that happen to us in life are a result of our self-image. There is no pretentious language, just simple examples and intelligent insights that make the book even more powerful. I found that audio is a very good medium for self-help books because its message will sink into your head much easier.
Fundamentals that have impacted my life
I'm not a "touchy feely" type, so when I say that this book made a direct & positive impact on my life it is not faint praise. Understanding how our minds work has improved my outlook, and then my results in business, and personally. I listened to this the first time about 4 years ago and began practicing some of the simple prescriptions and found within a month or so things really started to improve.

    Getting Things Done
This is a fantastic book and the ideas are helpful, but the abridged version leaves out too many details. I also have the book, and have found that I must refer to it in order to get essential information that will allow me to implement the author's suggestions.
    GTD abridged vs unabridged
The abridged version of GTD is missing chapters 7-11 of the book, if you do buy this version do also invest in the book, Getting Things Done. The unabridged version was just recorded in Oct of 08, it is the full version of the book and makes much more sense to the listener. Granted you cannot implement while you are listening in a car but very important information to have. I work for David Allen and wanted folks to have the correct information regarding differences in the two audiobooks.
    Booklet?
I like the material, but the author repeatedly refers the listener to important material in the "booklet that accompanies this tape." Audible really needs to make the booklet available for download in order to make this worthwhile.
Very useful, not the most suitable on audiobook
I was looking for some help on my organization. I think I found it with this book. The advice is useful, but most of all it all boils down to common sense. I found each and every item the most obvious thing to do. The value of the book is to organize the system so that there aren't any cracks. I yet have to move on to complete the weekly review every week, but even without that it's helped me organize quite a lot.
This being said, I've read a few self-help books and I can't say that they shine best in audio format. You want to see the diagrams, the organization and the table of contents, you want to return to a section just to connect it it with another one. These are very easy to do with a book, but not so with audio. It is useful to listen to the book to "get the idea" first, but if you want to put the system in practice and need to refer to the book, it's best to have it in paper. I finally bought my copy. On the other hand, I don't think I would have gotten such an agreement with the system while reading on paper. Listening to it is more persuasive somehow, and I'm still glad I have the audiobook in my library.
    Get the Book
I enjoyed this audio book but if you are really interested in implementing GTD you NEED to get the book. There are whole chapters left out of the audio version which tell you the details of how to actually put the system in place.
The audio book is a nice addition to the book but not a substitute.
