    Format: Unabridged
    Length: 48 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 08-10-06

    Publisher's Summary:
The Aussie Bites series is fantastic for kids. These bite-sized stories will leave them hungry for more!
    Editorial Reviews:
Young listeners - especially girls - with a passion for sports will love this contribution to the Aussie Bites series from author Archimede Fusillo. In Game or Not, Fusillo tells the story of Belinda, an aspiring soccer player whos being held back from pursuing her dreams of stardom by a stupid, arbitrary rule: At her school, soccer is only for boys. Girls are stuck playing volleyball - fine for some, but its not Belindas cup of tea!
In a nuanced and empathetic performance, Stig Wemyss draws out the humor in this fast-paced story of determination and self-direction with expert comic timing, while also highlighting the very real and relatable frustrations of its plucky protagonist.

    Editorial Reviews:
Stig Wemyss gives an engaging performance of Paul Jennings story collection for children Undone!. His youthful voice and knack for embodying different characters is well suited to this entertaining selection of tales. In life, so many things can come undone: plans, zippers, and bullies. Every situation holds the promise of thrills and danger. The eight delightful stories included on this audiobook are: "Batty", "Moonies", "Noseweed", "Wake Up to Yourself", "Thought Full", "Clear as Mud", "What a Woman", and "You Be the Judge".
    Critic Reviews:
"The finest collection of stories Paul Jennings has ever written." (School Library Journal)
    Members Reviews:
    Love these books!
I've just recently discovered the Paul Jennings "Un" series of short stories. As far as I'm concerned, Paul Jennings is brilliant! I think I've become addicted to these books because I can't seem to get enough of them. This is my first year teaching struggling readers in a middle school and I'm hoping to get my students hooked on these books as well.
"Thinking is What School is All About. You Could Try it More Often..."
Another eight stories by Australian author Paul Jennings: funny, spooky, imaginative and sometimes surprisingly poignant. Back in the 1990s, the popularity of Jennings in Australia and New Zealand cannot be understated. He was in every kid's schoolbag, bookshelf and school project, and it was quite a trip down memory lane to revisit the old familiar stories. Each tale had a neat twist ending that could be horrifying, satisfying or heart-warming, and Jennings was particularly gifted in telling them from what was unmistakably a kid's point of view, capturing their reactions, concerns, lingo and quirky logic in regards to both the bizarre and the mundane. It was no wonder they were so popular, and though I'm writing in the past tense, there is absolutely no reason why these stories shouldn't be enjoyed by the latest generation. They are still as fresh and funny as when I first read them.
"Undone" was one of his later books, and as such some of the stories are a tad less imaginative than his earlier efforts, almost as if he was running out of steam. Many of the stories collected here are simply not that memorable. And yet his writing style is significantly smoother and more refined than his previous work, with more mature themes and ideas, and so there is still much fun to be had from this collection. As always, there is a diverse range of stories here, ranging from charming modern fairytales to surreal wish-fulfillment fantasies, from spooky ghost stories, to vaguely creepy "comeuppance" tales in which bullies are dealt a karmic punishment for their cruelty.
Of this last kind, there are two included in this collection: "Moonies" and "Clear as Mud." In the first, a boy who cannot read is forced by the school bully to sign a contract that requires him to moon the principal from the town bridge.

    Title: Thor's Wedding Day
    Author: Bruce Coville
Narrator: Ryan Sparkes, the Full Cast Family
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 2 hrs and 45 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 04-21-06
    Publisher: Full Cast Audio
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 31 votes
    Genres: Kids, Ages 8-10
    Publisher's Summary:
This rib-tickling new novel was inspired by the old Norse poem The Thrymskvitha which tells what happens when Thor's hammer is stolen and he has to dress as a bride to retrieve it. Told by Thialfi the goatboy, and featuring Norse gods, foolish giants, and a pair of cranky goats, this one will have the whole family laughing out loud.
©2005 Bruce Coville; (P)2006 Full Cast Audio
    Editorial Reviews:
A full cast of voices engages the listener in this funny, suspenseful adventure of the god Thor and his companions. Stable boy Thialfi tells the tale of Thor's desperate attempt to retrieve his stolen hammer and save Asgard, home of the Norse gods, from the giants. The heroes find themselves in many embarrassing and dangerous situations, which are solved by their quick wits and persistence. The multiple narrators delight the listener with their portrayals of gods, goddesses, mortals, and goats, among many other interesting characters. The portrayal of Thialfi, the narrator, contains misplaced emphasis and pauses, but this distraction is overshadowed by the skill and enthusiasm of the other narrators.

    Delightful!
We first listened to this story when my son was 6: he's now 8, has listened to it countless times, and still loves it. The cast is wonderful, and the story is very well told. A perfect balance of being true to the myth and adding creative details. We love the characters of the goats, especially. The fact that it is narrated (beautifully!) by a child makes this ancient story accessible and fun.
    Good for Boys
This story will appeal most to the 6-12 year old range (more the older end of this) My kids loved it, especially the 10yo boy. Even my younger girls thought it interesting enough to repeat often.
Based on the old Norse legend, the story is well written and fascinating. Enough to keep parents listening on a long journey too.
Sadly, this version is let down by some excruciating pronunciation and a harshly accented reader. Still, it rates 4 stars despite this.
    Definitely cute
Being a lover of Norse myths (and having been a fanatical Bruce Coville follower as a child), I was thrilled to see this book and bought it on the spot. Between the author and source, I knew I was in for a great source. I was not disappointed. Coville obviously knows his legends, and sprinkled through out are references not only to the myth at hand (although that one is hilarious enough), but to other stories. There is a nod to Baldur, references to Heimdal's guardianship of the Rainbow Bridge, the creation of Mjolnir, and Thialfe's unfortunate introduction to his stint as a servent of the gods. The story is well written, the characters played well and written beautifully in character, and the plot is as tight as a drum.
My only qualm in this story was the voiceacting. This may be a personal choice, but all in all, I get distracted heavily when an audiobook contains voice acting done other than by the narrator. Also, the disguised voices seemed to be overdone, almost melodramatic, and while I know it was being played up for laughs, it continued the sense of disconnection. But all in all, I think my money here was well spent. I definitely hope that Coville continues this series; I, for one, would love to read about the further adventures of Thialfe, Goatboy.
    very good.
    Apsolutly brilliant
This is a great story and wonderfully preformed.

    amazing book
very engaging and kept me I interested (hard to put down) so overall loved it
Good for kids, not so good for adults
My sons (9 and 11) loved this entire series. However, I found that the stories were not as exciting, nor as well-written as they could have been. I frequently found that my mind would wander as I was listening to them, and that I would lose the thread of the story just because the language wasn't all that interesting, nor were the twists and turns of the story particularly surprising or exciting.

Funny and suspenseful, seasoned with original music and spiced with Bruce Coville's special brand of wackiness, this enchanting recording is sure to cast a spell of delight on the entire family.
    Editorial Reviews:
Dragons aren't such bad creatures, are they? Bruce Coville turns fantasy on its ear in this story of Edward, an apprentice to a sorcerer of mediocre abilities. In order to help his mentor, Edward faces a rather underwhelming dragon, among other adventures. The story is narrated by young actor Ryan Sparkes, who gives an enthusiastic performance as Edward. His youthful exuberance carries the innocence of a bygone age and may remind older listeners of the sort of boy heroes that populated late-50s and early-60s children's films, or, say, "Leave It to Beaver." This energy adds to the Coville's light-handed humor. Also featured in the cast are Robert Steingraber as Moongobble the Magician, David Baker as Urk, the talking toad, and Sam Goldsman as the Rusty Knight.

    Enjoyable
This book is thoroughly enjoyable for children and adults. I purchased this book for my 11 year old great-nephew, and he said he really liked it. The nine year was captivated as well. I listened to it myself and thought it was cute, but a bit young for an 11 year old. Would probably be more appealing for the 5-8 year old set. Since the 11 year old liked it I will get the rest of the series for him, and since my niece has 5 boys under the age of 12 they can all listen. Since it is relatively short, just an hour long, it's easy for their somewhat hyperactive attention spans. The author does have a book that I will get for the 11 and 12 year old called "I Was a Sixth Grade Alien", which is about 3 hours long and will probably suit the needs of the older boys better.
    Wonderful story
This story is perfect for young adults or adults who are young at heart. The light hearted story has perfect voice casting. I highly recommend it. This is the first story of the series and I belive there are three. The second is the Weeping Werewolf. The third is not available on audible yet but I'll be the first one to download it when it is available.

    Awful Narration
A great classic! However, I find the narrators style sooooo annoying, it distracted from listening to the story. The narrator elongates the last word of (almost) every sentence. At times, the elongation implies an ominous foreshadowing that is incongruent to the sentence or story line. Dorothy slept well until the next mooornnnniiiinnnng. She just goes to sleep because she is tried. Nothing happens the next morning! Once in a while, an elongation is ok, but the entire book? I wish someone had reviewed this book before me, I would have purchased a different reading.
    excellent childrens story!
beautiful language, lovely story. great lessons, never too scary. highly recommended! i really loved this for my 6 year old!
Great book, not a great performance
The reader has a very odd way of speaking. He ends every sentence with an upswing so they all sound like questions.
    Good but anoying reading style
This is a good story, but the reading style is annoying. The narator drops almost to a whisper at the end of each sentence and makes it nearly imposssible to hear him unless the volume is turned up loud, especially while in the car.

    Genres: Kids, Ages 8-10
    Publisher's Summary:
Traditional values abound in these hilarious stories from Appalachia: friendship, family, orderliness, humor, and delight in an especially inventive practical joke. In "Rainy Weather", a hound dog with more heart than sense wins everyone's admiration. "Uncle Frank Learns to Speak Polish" finds Davis' famous Uncle Frank making the most of a little foreign language. And, in "Uncle Frank Clean Up the Post Office", cleanliness is next to godliness, and it's also next to hilarity.
    Editorial Reviews:
Before there was David Sedaris' brother "Rooster", there was Donald Davis' "Uncle Frank". These Uncle Frank stories - "Rainy Weather", "Uncle Frank Learns to Speak Polish", and "Uncle Frank Cleans Up the Post Office" - feature Frank at his very best: fox hunting, mangling foreign languages, and making righteous civic speeches. Davis takes listeners on a rollicking ride through his uncle's comic universe in the irresistible style that has earned him multiple storytelling awards. Davis says of his time growing up in Southern Appalachia, "I didn't learn stories; I just absorbed them", and in this performance the listener will likewise become a sponge to Davis's ripe talent.
    Critic Reviews:
"Davis has interconnected this set of stories in such a way as to create a place...as memorable as Garrison Keillor's Lake Wobegon?" (Lexington Herald-Leader)
"As wholesome as milk." (Raleigh News and Observer)

    Rainy Weather
My sister and I took my nephew and grandson to a story telling convention. Our whole family LOVES to hear Donald Davis. The story's he tells are wonderful. Rainy weather is one of my favorite story's. I can just see the story unfold in my mind. I would encourage teacher's to let kids listen to these in school.
    Classic Donald Davis.
It's hard to go wrong with a Donald Davis story. My sons and I have listened to almost all of his recordings and some of them many times over. Davis has a wonderful storytelling style, speeding up on the action parts, slowing down on the poignant bits, and making his voice high or low to fit the mood. I highly recommend his recordings to anyone, young or old, who enjoys a good story told well.
