Amazing!

It felt like an actual episode! The story was quite interesting to say the least.

A thoroughly enjoyable story

I've only seen a couple of episodes of the TV show. Listening to Elizabeth Sladen is a pure delight. I like that she is telling the story as Sara Jane rather than about Sara Jane. She even does alien voices, so cool!

Enchanting story of friendship and heroism

I love all of Eva Ibbotson's books, and this enchanting tale of heroism and friendship, with its fairy-tale atmosphere, is one of her best. The story is set in 1939, just before World War II, and Hitler is on the move. The heroine, 11-year-old Tally, is sent by her father, a doctor in London, to Delderton, an unconventional boarding school in the Devon countryside where students are encouraged to think for themselves.

Meanwhile, in the small European country of Bergania, the king is bravely standing up to the Nazis. His son, Crown Prince Karil, seeks solace and escape from the restrictions of court life at the Dragonfly Pool, a hidden place that his father also used as a childhood refuge.

The children at Delderton are invited to a folk-dance festival in Bergania, and when Nazi conspirators assassinate the king, the children smuggle Karil out of the country to safety in England. This beautifully written story is full of adventure, narrow escapes, excitement, humor, and well-portrayed, believable characters, and Tally herself is courageous, intelligent, friendly, and commonsensical. I highly recommend this delightful book to middle schoolers, teens, and grown-ups alike. Don't miss out on it just because it's labeled "young adult."

A terrific children's read!

As an elementary reading teacher, I loved this book. I love the time period of early WWII set amidst the European backdrop. It does not contain witchcraft, magic, vampires or zombies. The book offers a cast of colorful young students at a very unique boarding school in England. There is the drama of the invading Nazi army. I can't wait to share this with my young 4th graders.

Great Read

I love this book. I am reading it with my 6th grade Reading classes because Tallie is a great heroine and it offers aspects of WWII besides the Holocaust.

Laugh out loud for all the family

On a long road trip we listened to Treasure Fever. The adults were laughing so much - it was hard to keep driving. We all got the giggles. Simple story, but clever characters. Every single one of them was at your school too.

captivating and funny for all ages

My boys aged 5 and 8 listened to this story over several nights. my husband and I heard parts of the story in passing and found it just as amusing as the boys did. my eldest son in particular couldn't wait for each evening to find out how the story moved on. Lovely, innocent, funny story.

Great entertainment

We've listened to all the schooling around books. My children 5 and 9 have quietly been engrossed in these audio books in the car trips to and from school. And even I, as the parent have enjoyed listening.

Great Book in the Series

Part of the Amber Brown series. Great series for girls, age 3-7. Bought for my niece, and she absolutely adored it. Definitely recommend.

I chose five stars because it's really interesting at first sometimes you don't know what she/he is going to decide. Also because kind of and almost like my life but only a little like my life.

The Best Story On Amber Brown Ever

The book on Amber Brown is feeling blue is written by Paula Danziger. it is a very good book. and it is about a girl who at first didn't like her name until she meet named kelly green. At first amber didn'tlike kelly green beacause she had the same colored name as amber brown. One day Kelly saw a boy barf. She ended up barfing too. Amber Brown told everyone. Then everyone started called Kelly Green, KGB. Amber Brown thought that Kelly was going to be mad but she really didn't care. Amber's parents were divorced. Then one day Amber's mom and boyfriend were going to Walla Walla, New York for the Thanksgiving holiday. At the same time her dad was coming to spend some time with her to spend the holiday in Washington with him. Amber got into all of the conflict between her parents. It was difficult for her to choose. She wanted to be with both of her parents. In the end she chose to go with her dad because he didn't have anyone to spend the holiday with so Amber chose to go with her dad. She was glad she did because they had fun. Wait! I'm not done because there are more stories out there and I won't stop until I get every book on Amber Brown until they are sold out!!

Three adventure tales and biting satire on human nature.

Each adventure he encounters radically different problems. The Voyages of Lemuel Gulliver include first, people six inches tall, second a land of giants seventy or so feet tall, and people living in an island-cloud. The fourth voyage, were his men mutiny, foreshadowing the darker side of human nature that follows. They desert on an island where the Houyhnhnms rule. A land of noble talking horses, who can't believe Gulliver has intelligence, ala Planet of the Apes, because the humans/Yahoos on their island seem but. This causes a series of discussions with Gulliver and his "master" a horse who can't grasp lying, greediness and all the various other human frailties. A in his discussions with his master causes Gulliver to be more and more disgusted with the Yahoos on their island and even the humans back home. If knew more about 1850's English history I might of understood the societal, political times of England and Europe in general at that time. There is also an annotated volume which includes more detail. But I didn't read it so don't feel qualified to make an opinion on it, just letting people who are interested informing them it's out there.

A classic

I recommend the classic novels in literature to everyone, however, this Novel test your endurance. The beginning of the novel is very good very interesting and reads well. The last roughly 3rd slows down a bit and is difficult to stay with . Over all I did enjoy reading this book .

KINDLE VERSION FORMATTING SUCKS

THIS REVIEW SPECIFICALLY FOR THE KINDLE EDITION--

I was disappointed with the formatting on this classic. At least on my Kindle Fire, the footnote and endnote shortcuts seem to malfunction. Some bad line breaks and lots of small annoying things contribute to an overall less than satisfactory experience.

But it is free.

A Fantastic Voyage

This is far better than any of the various film versions of this novel. A tv mini series starring Ted Danson seems to get the author's satarical nature instead of just being a voyage to four fantastical lands.

Fabulous book for girls!

This book series is a touching, honest, refreshing and realistic portrayal of everyday life. The story of Ruby and Flora losing both parents, coming to live in a new town with their grandmother, attending a new school, making new friends and going about everyday life is captivating. My eight-year-old is mesmerized with all books in the series and can't wait for the next.

I would highly recommend this for girls and the adults in their lives too. It provides a good springboard for conversation about life and how to handle different situations.

I LIKE IT

THIS WAS A GREAT BOOK. I READ IT QUITE QUICKLY, BUT MAYBE THAT WAS BECAUSE I KEPT SAYING "OK, I'VE TO STOP READING THIS AT THE END OF CHAPTER 6 ETC" BUT AT THE END OF EACH CHAPTER IT'S VERY EXCITING SO I KEPT READING!

Magnificent words bad wording

it doesn't make sense until chapter 6 and from chapter 6 on it is simply magnificent especially with vocabulary and capitalization, but some spelling errors

Love the Narrator

This series of audiobooks is great, not only because the author weaves a wonderful story, but because the narrator does such a good job with character voice differentiation. My daughters and I have thoroughly enjoyed this series and look forward to the rest of the books becoming audiobooks!

I don't believe, I don't believe, I don't believe

I don't believe this is Peter David's best and I don't believe Peter Pan needed to be rewritten. I have only ever read the first chapter of the original Peter Pan and of course watched the Disney Cartoon, which like all Disney Cartoons are nothing like the books. I am not sure what age group this is written for and it is not Gregory Maguire.

There are some good parts to the book and at times it has a Terry Pratchett feel to it. For instance there is an Indian named "Dog Licking himself". There is another character whose name is on the label of his shirt, "Irregular".

I got interested in Peter David after reading Q-Squarred, a Star Trek Next Generation book. It is one of my favorite books and I don't normally read Star Trek books. Audible has the abridged version and I normally don't suggest abridged version, but this is so good I recommend it. Because Peter David has two first names, when you search for him you will get 36 books of which he is only the author of ten.

If you are looking for Peter Pan, get the original. If you want a cool retelling get Greg Maguire's "Wicked". This is the retelling of the Wizard of Oz from the point of view of the Witch. It is so good that there is a Broadway Play.

Author wished he'd written Peter Pan

Lame re-write of Peter Pan. Even uses famous lines like "straight on till morning". I gave up half way through. Too boring.

An interesting retelling of Peter Pan

I would recommend this to most of my reader friends. Peter Pan is such a timeless, classic tale, and it's fun to read different interpretations on the story. Many of the readers I know appreciate seeing various writers' takes on the same story that we grew up with. It's fascinating to see what they do with such an old tale.

Have you listened to any of Simon Vances other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've listened to many performances by Simon Vance, and I have to say that he is one of my favorites. This book made me realize how consistent and talented he was with his reading whether he's narrating a historical mystery or an imaginative retelling like this this one.

Omg, I totally luved this book so much! This book was like the best Camp Confidential book out! Even though i luv all the Camp Confidetial books, i luved this one the best! If you haven't read a Camp Confidential book yet, you don't know what you are waiting for. I totally recommend all of these books to everyone girl who is in the years of 10-13. I am going to be so sad after I finish the 20th book because that will be the last book in the series! Camp Confidential books are cute, sweet and great for girls within the years of 10-13!!!!!!!
