    Publisher's Summary:
A wild and whimsical adventure story, perfect for fans of Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library.
Brian can think of a few places he'd rather spend his summer than with his aunt and uncle in Boring, Illinois. Jail, for example. Or an earplug factory. Anything would be better than doing summer school on a computer while his scientist dad is stationed at the South Pole.
Boring lives up to its name until Brian and his cousin Nora have a fight, get lost, and discover a huge wooden house in the forest. With balconies, turrets, and windows seemingly stuck on at random, it looks ready to fall over in the next stiff breeze. To the madcap, eccentric family that lives inside, it's not just a home - it's a castle.
Suddenly summer gets a lot more exciting. With their new friends, Brian and Nora tangle with giant wasps, sharp-tusked wild boars, and a crazed bureaucrat intent on bringing the dangerously dilapidated old house down with a wrecking ball.
This funny, fantastical story will resonate with any listener who's ever wished a little adventure would find them.

The adventures of Gerald, Cathy, and Jimmy - who find an enchanted castle, a bewitching garden, a sleeping princess, and a magic ring - are often funny and occasionally frightening!
    Members Reviews:
The magical ring and what it did
    E. Nesbit had that rare ability to dig up magical fantasies in all sorts of mundane places, and produce fantasy adventures that kids would actually want to have.
And nowhere is this more evident than in "The Enchanted Castle," a charming little wisp of a story about four children and their adventures with a magical ring that keeps causing all sorts of problems -- and no, I'm not sure why the book is named after the castle and not after the ring. Nesbit's writing adds a lot of dimensions to the story, both horrifying and enchanting, which makes up for a distinct lack of world-building and plot.
Kathleen, Jimmy and Jerry are three siblings on vacation, under the authority of a French governess who more or less lets them do what they want. One day they decide to go exploring around the village where they are staying, and uncover a secret cave that leads to the Enchanted Castle, an idyllic country estate covered in statues and hedges. Before long, one of the boys wakes a Princess from her enchanted slumber, and she shows them the magical jewels that she owns, including a magic ring.
Well, it turns out that the Princess is actually the housekeeper's niece Mabel, but the ring is actually magic -- it turns Mabel invisible for the better part of a day, and even when she gets it off, other people discover what it's like to be unseen. But it turns out that the ring has all kinds of magical effects that make it a pretty dangerous tool, including bringing the cobbled-together dummies known as the Ugly-Wuglies to life, allowing the kids to see the statues come to life, Jimmy is aged into Scrooge McDuck, and random wishes are granted.
"The Enchanted Castle" is a story that is entertaining despite a lack of... well, story. The plot is essentially that the kids just sort of bumble from one ring-related magical situation to the next, doing their best to keep the mayhem out of the eyes of the adults (although only with mixed success). It's only in the last few chapters that any kind of background or explanation for the magic is given, and it's almost as an afterthought -- it's as though Nesbit belatedly realized she had to wrap things up.
As a result, the assorted stories are wisps of entertainment (except the rather racist "conjurer" segment) that just sort of float by, following the kids as they make mistakes and uncover the nature of the magic ring. A lot of the whimsy of the book is reliant on Nesbit's luscious descriptions of the Enchanted Castle's grounds and buildings, including the hauntingly exquisite descriptions of the Grecian statuary coming to life on the hillsides. On the flipside, the whole Ugly-Wuglies story is uncanny-valley nightmare fuel, courtesy of her writing style.
The kids are classic Nesbit -- they're vaguely upper-crust, excessively British and prone to bickering with one another as they hurtle through their adventures, but fairly good at keeping their nerve unless animated composite dummies are involved.

    Members Reviews:
    Loved it,,
Tiga rocks! We can't wait to see where gretal is! A fun ride to take with both little and big witches!
    A fun read for kids.
This the second book in the Witch Wars series, although the Witch Wars finished in the first book. After the Witch Wars, Peggy became the head witch and there are some witch's that are not happy about that. In this book, Peggy goes missing, and Tiga, with the help of Fluffanora, is trying to find her. There is a lot of things going on in this book. They are trying to find missing witches from both the past and present, information about Tiga's past turns up, the girls head up to the real world, someone is turning witches into dolls, and Aggie Hoof and Felicity are running Sinkville.
Most of the characters from the first book have returned. Tiga is still learning how to use her magic. She is getting better, but still goofs every now and then. She is still loyal, determined and smart. Fluffanora seems a little self-centered in this book. She has one thing on her mind that she wants and she seems blinded to everything else at times. She still helps Tiga a lot, proves that she is a good friend and has some pretty crazy ideas to help solve their problems though. Fran, the fairy, is still a little nutty. She is not as present in this book but around enough to both help and hinder the girls. Aggie Hoof is again rather annoying. She lives to help Felicity Bat but also for fashion. She is the comic relief as she wears tights on her head and shoes on her ears. Once again, she inadvertently ends up helping Tiga. Felicity Bat is still the evil witch. She is behind the disappearances, which is known from the beginning, but how does she do it? Once Tiga figures things out, she gives up pretty easily, but if we remember that these girls are only 9 or 10, it is easy to understand.
The illustrations are very well done. They are only black and white, but the detail is well done and you can just picture them in colour. The scenery is very detailed as well and you can picture yourself in the magical world of Sinkville. This is a series that young girls will absolutely love. It gives a powerful group of young females centre stage with magical powers. What's not to like? The ending, of course, leaves you hanging so the next book will be anxiously awaited. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of the book via Netgalley.
This is a fun and bit silly read and I think any child ...
Thank-you to Goodreads and Bloomsbury Publishing for a free copy of this book. This is a fun and bit silly read and I think any child in its targeted age group (Age 8-12; Grades 3-6) would enjoy it.

For fans of Lloyd Alexander and Brandon Mull comes the epic conclusion to the acclaimed Thrones and Bones fantasy-adventure trilogy that began with Frostborn.
Find the Horn. Free the City.
The chase continues for the legendary Horns of Osius. Thianna and Karn's quest to retrieve the horns from those who wish to abuse their power takes them to Thica, an ancient land where two tyrant queens reign supreme and where, years earlier, Thianna's mother was labeled a traitor. Soon the two heroes are caught up in an epic battle for control of the kingdom, one that puts their very lives at stake. The only way to overthrow the queens is to beat them at their own game. A Place of Wonder
The penalty for treason was being chained to marble columns. For many years, vicious captors had tortured the rebellious dragon, burning it with fire lances and shredding its wings. Yet its words only grew bolder as it faced Sirena, keeper of the Horn that controlled its mind. Though one of the most fearless fighters in all the empire, Sirena had yet to unlock the key to the precious Horn of Osius. She had less than five days to learn the secrets of wielding its powerâto enslave an entire generation of dragons.
Thianna Frostborn and Karn Korlundsson awoke in an elegant cage, flying south under the wings of angry dragons. Vast forests and ancient ruins spun away beneath them as they approached their destination, the Court of Land and Sky. Raised in the frozen lands of the frost giants, the half-giant Thianna knew little about her motherâs native country. Using one of her unique giftsâa hoarfrost chantâThianna froze her way to freedom. Recapturing the powerful Horn from an elite force of furious women would require more than brute strength and quick wit. It would demand every gift her allies possessed. Brash minotaurs and leafy dryads soon found themselves fighting for something far greater than their own kingdoms and narrow ideals.
Skyborn is the third of Lou Andersâ Thrones and Bones series. Wonderful new characters charge through his colorful landscapes, ice blocking down watercourses and gliding over molten lava. Mysterious doors open up, allowing passage to ethereal corridors. AsThianna realizes the decisions she makes have far-reaching consequences, the frost giant whoâs always struck the fastest blows suddenly finds herself unsure of her path forward. Tenuous friendships develop between hardened enemies; impossible alliances become reality. The momentum drives the story at a quick pace towards an arresting climax. Skyborn pulls you into a space you werenât expecting to be inâa place of wonder and higher dreams.
    --Kate Calina
A great end to the trilogy by the author who writes like Tolkien and R.A. Salvatore for the MG crowd.
This is the third book of the Thrones and Bones trilogy and lives up to the previous books.

little merit other than grossing kids out
What disappointed you about How to Navigate Zombie Cave and Defeat Pirate Pete?
A story that is all about slashing zombie brains. no imagination other than whatever sounds gross, goes in.
How could the performance have been better?
Narrator is fine but invokes no warm or friendly tone. Perhaps not needed for this story but not a voice I like having in my ear as my kid listens to the story

Summary: Pete is generally a big goof; in fact, he sometimes feels like his friends get kind of annoyed by some of his shenanigans. Heâs just stolen cheerleader Eliza Collinsâs pom poms when he ducks into a coffee shop to hide. He catches the eye of an eccentric woman sitting at one of the tables with two laptops and a cell phone. Turns out sheâs a movie producer, and she invites Pete to come and audition for a film sheâs making. He decides to give it a try, and, lo and behold, is chosen for the part, starring opposite teen sensation Shana Fox. Life seems pretty amazing until his friends decide that stardom has gone to his head. Even worse, his girlfriend is sure he and Shana are romantically involved. When Shana invites Pete to dinner at his parentsâ restaurant, the whole crisis comes to a head. It looks like Pete will have to decide between a normal life and movie stardom. 256 pages; grades 4-6
Pros: This latest entry in the Charlie Joe Jackson series is sure to please fans. Pete is a likeable character who tells his story with humor and honesty, sprinkled with his own illustrations and bits of the script from his movie. Wimpy Kid readers should enjoy moving up to this series.
Cons: In many of the illustrations, Pete looks more like a fourth grader than an eighth grader.
