    Publisher's Summary:
    Three novellas in one audiobook.
Vampire Artifact: "My name is Nathan Jones and I am a vampire. Many years ago I was being chased by a vampire hunter. This hunter knew a lot about magic, but when some of my vampire friends were hunting him in turn, he lost his wooden stakes. The hunter found my coffin, but because he didn't have a wooden stake to kill me with, he decided to draw a powerful angel spell with his own blood. Vampires are vulnerable to such a spell and I could not get out of my coffin until a girl named Libby erased the drawing. I was finally free to go back to 1886 with an artifact that I found in Egypt many years ago to save my young brother from a murderer with Libby's help."
Vampire Dynasty: "Once upon a time the world belonged to humans. When we won the war against them; the world belonged to vampires. Grace Chatzi is an 18-year old female vampire and a talented human-hunter. When word of a human rebellion in California reached Europe, Grace and her partner Zara were among the hunters sent there to kill the rebels. But Grace and Zara are going to have their friendship tested. When Grace is captured by the rebels she meets River, a werewolf ambassador that has a lot of secrets. In Grace's world werewolves are extinct. What shocking secrets will be revealed by River? Will Grace fall in love with River and betray her kind?"
A Medieval Fantasy Adventure: "The view from this tall tree is kind of pretty. I can see salmon jumping on the river. Colorful birds are making their nests while they sing. The sky is clear this morning after a night of heavy rain. My name is Emma and I am a 16-year-old orphan. I am in charge of four siblings; our parents died trying to protect us from a dragon attack and were killed instantly by the monster's lethal fire. I was not successful at hunting last night because I could not see anything with the rain. My bow and arrows seemed to be drying faster than I was. I decided to go check a village and hopefully someone would feel sorry for me and feed me. While entering the village a group of people were gathered around a sign that was being posted by a royal knight. His expensive uniform gave him away. Young princess Victoria has been abducted by Amira the dark magic sorcerer. The King is offering 100 gold coins to anyone who rescues her. The reward was more than enough to feed my siblings for a long time. Will Princess Victoria's handsome teen brother Prince Edward interfere with my quest? Or are the two of us destined to fall in love during her little sisters' rescue?

Title: Vampire Blues: A Samantha Moon Story
    Author: J. R. Rain
    Narrator: Sylvia Roldán Dohi
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 2 hrs and 26 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 05-13-13
    Publisher: J.R. Rain
Ratings: 3.5 of 5 out of 38 votes
    Genres: Sci-Fi & Fantasy
    Publisher's Summary:
Vampire Blues - In J.R. Rain's exclusive short story, Samantha Moon discovers that even a routine case can offer a few surprises - and that not all men are created equal....
    Also included:
"Nightmare" - One parasitic vampire is about to meet his own worst nightmare.
"Soul Train" - A young boy who hears a mysterious nightly train, is about to come-face-to-face with something not of this world.
    Critic Reviews:
"Gripping, adventurous, and romantic - J.R. Rain's The Lost Ark is a breakneck thriller that traces the thread of history from Biblical stories to current-day headlines. Be prepared to lose sleep!"(James Rollins, international best-selling author of The Devil Colony)
"I enjoyed this immensely. The protagonist, Samantha Moon, is a female vampire with a husband and children. Those predate her condition; six years ago she was attacked by a vampire and rendered into one. Now she's trying to carry on with family and private eye business, and she's a feisty, skilled person, so is doing mostly okay. It is not a horror story; she buys animal blood to eat and doesn't generally prey on humans. But her husband has an increasing problem with her coldness - not of spirit, but of body. 'You sicken me and scare the hell out of me,' he tells her. 'And when I touch you it's all I can do to not gag.' She replies, 'Words every wife wants to hear.' I love this! What makes it special are her character and nature." (Piers Anthony, best-selling author of A Spell for Chameleon)

    hate hate the reader's voice
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Sylvia Roldan Dohi is just not the correct voice for Samantha, she sounds squeaky and childish, I enjoyed the previous reader Dina Pearlman, much better, she made samantha moon much more believable.
    AMAZING
I like to read anything by j.r. Rain. Exciting stuff and I love S. Moon. She makes me laugh. Great read D.Page

    Title: Enders World
Subtitle: Fresh Perspectives on the SF Classic Enders Game
    Author: Orson Scott Card (editor)
Narrator: Gabrielle de Cuir, Janis Ian, Arthur Morey, Stefan Rudnicki, Orson Scott Card
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 7 hrs and 46 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 04-02-13
    Publisher: Blackstone Audio, Inc.
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 120 votes
    Genres: Sci-Fi & Fantasy
    Publisher's Summary:
Orson Scott Cards Enders Game is a classic of science fiction. Though it began its life as a short story, it was later expanded into a Hugo and Nebula Award-winning novel, served as a springboard for a much larger universe of stories, and finally has been made into a feature film.
In Enders World over a dozen writers of science fiction, fantasy, and young adult books offer new perspectives on the 1985 novel, along with insights gleaned from other Ender stories that fit within the Enders Game chronology, including Ender in Exile and Enders Shadow. In addition, military strategists Colonel Tom Ruby and Captain John Schmitt offer insight into the human-Formic war. Also included is a contribution from Aaron Johnston, the coauthor of the Formic Wars prequel novels.
The collection's insightful analyses and moving personal essays are rounded out with short pieces answering more technically oriented questions about the Ender universe, including why the Battle Room is a cube and why the military recruited their soldiers as children.
Edited by Orson Scott Card himself, who also provides an introduction to the anthology as well as to the individual essays, Ender's World is aimed both at listeners who have kept up with the many books that came after and at those who simply want to revisit the original novel.
    Critic Reviews:
"Ender's Game is an affecting novel full of surprises that seem inevitable once they are explained." (New York Times Book Review)
"A chorus of writers and military experts weigh in on why Cards Enders Game is a work of genius.Contributors recall with awe their first encounters with the story, offer detailed analyses of Enders psyche and Cards writerly technical chops, demonstrate that Ender is a classic mythic hero, or mull over the nature and costs of victory." (Kirkus Reviews)

Just let Stefan Rudnicki read... Seriously.
I've read and listened to the entire Ender cannon... So, when another book comes up I have to read it, if only to "complete" the series. If you love all things Ender this is a must and a repeat listen. My biggest complaint is too many readers, or the lack of Rudnicki's narration.
Now what I was hoping for
As a huge fan of the Ender's Game books, I was interested in hearing analytical and outside takes on the book and its influences.
Although some entries were interesting and informative, not all were.
I do think the the bridge from print to audiobook may have lost its intention. I think if you are interested in this book for obvious reasons, check out the print version instead. A bit disappointed.
    For fans only
    Any additional comments?
This is a series of book reports about the book Enders game so if you have not read Enders game you should before reading this. At first I was somewhat disappointed waiting for the story to start but these are book reports from really interesting people with interesting ideas. If you are an Ender fan you will enjoy it but it's not for everyone.
If its Ender, I will read it
I really love the Ender series, including Enders Shadow so this was right up my alley. This was an interesting collection of essays surrounding the world of the book itself. I was somewhat surprised by the impact it made on military leaders as well as the others.

    Title: Dracula's Guest
Subtitle: A Connoisseur's Collection of Victorian Vampire Stories
    Author: Michael Sims (editor)
    Narrator: Elijah Alexander
    Format: Unabridged
    Length: 17 hrs
    Language: English
    Release date: 03-04-13
    Publisher: Audible Studios for Bloomsbury
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 12 votes
    Genres: Sci-Fi & Fantasy
    Publisher's Summary:
Before Twilight and True Blood, even before Buffy and Anne Rice and Bela Lugosi, vampires haunted the 19th century, when brilliant writers everywhere indulged their bloodthirsty imaginations, culminating in Bram Stoker's legendary 1897 novel, Dracula.
Michael Sims brings together the very best vampire stories of the Victorian era - from England, America, France, Germany, Transylvania, and even Japan - into a unique collection that highlights their cultural variety. Beginning with the supposedly true accounts that captivated Byron and Shelley, the stories range from Edgar Allan Poe's "The Oval Portrait" and Sheridan Le Fanu's "Carmilla" to Guy de Maupassant's "The Horla" and Mary Elizabeth Braddon's "Good Lady Ducayne". Sims also includes a 19th-century travel tour of Transylvanian superstitions, and rounds out the collection with Stoker's own "Dracula's Guest" - a chapter omitted from his landmark novel.
Vampires captivated the Victorians, as Sims reveals in his insightful introduction: In 1867, Karl Marx described capitalism as "dead labor, which, vampire-like, lives only by sucking living labor"; while in 1888 a London newspaper invoked vampires in trying to explain Jack the Ripper's predations. At a time when vampires have been re-created in a modern context, Dracula's Guest will remind readers young, old, and in between of why the undead won't let go of our imagination. Readers of Dracula's Guest may also enjoy Michael Sims' most recent collection, The Dead Witness: A Connossieur's Collection of Victorian Detective Stories.

Well read stories... duplicate stories if you have the vampire chronicles collection
Worth the duplicate read since this book gives memorable performances. Still... note that if you have the vampire mega collection that is available on audible, these stories are all contained in that collection also.

    Release date: 02-28-13
    Publisher: Audible Studios
Ratings: 3.5 of 5 out of 54 votes
    Genres: Sci-Fi & Fantasy
    Publisher's Summary:
Famous stories of the apocalypse by the worlds best science fiction writers.
Before The Road by Cormac McCarthy brought apocalyptic fiction into the mainstream, there was science fiction. No longer relegated to the fringes of literature, this explosive collection of the worlds best apocalyptic writers brings the inventors of alien invasions, devastating meteors, doomsday scenarios, and all-out nuclear war back to with a bang. The best writers of the early 1900s were the first to flood New York with tidal waves, destroy Illinois with alien invaders, paralyze Washington with meteors, and lay waste to the Midwest with nuclear fallout. Now collected for the first time ever in one apocalyptic volume are those early doomsday writers and their contemporaries, including Neil Gaiman, Orson Scott Card, Lucius Shepard, Robert Sheckley, Norman Spinrad, Arthur C. Clarke, William F. Nolan, Poul Anderson, Fredric Brown, Lester del Rey, and more. Relive these childhood classics or discover them here for the first time. Each story details the eerie political, social, and environmental destruction of our world.
    Editorial Reviews:
What will humanitys demise look like?
To answer that question, veteran anthologizer Martin Greenberg selects unsettling stories from masters of apocalyptic fiction. The team of Suehyla El Attar and Nicholas Tecosky play off each other in performance of individuals and groups who face the end, or have to live in a time and world where all we now experience is long gone. Here is the worlds political, social, and environmental destruction as envisioned by geniuses of speculation, including Neil Gaiman, Orson Scott Card, Robert Sheckley, Norman Spinrad, Arthur C. Clarke, William F. Nolan, Poul Anderson, and Lester del Rey.
    Members Reviews:
    The Apocalypse Without Zombies
Here's an interesting idea, suppose they gave an apocalypse and no zombies came? This anthology bucks the trend of zombies ruling over the apocalypse that is so prevalent in today's science fiction and horror literature (the stories collected here were written before the recent zombie craze.)
Actually, there is one story (The Underdweller by William F. Nolan) that is somewhat zombie-like in the same way that Richard Matheson's I Am Legend is, in that the world is overrun with monsters. Exactly what kind of monsters though remains to be seen until the shock ending.
    Contents:
    1. Introduction: Dancing Through the Apocalypse - Robert Silverberg
    2. The Hum - Rick Hautala
    3. Salvador - Lucius Shepard
    4. We Can Get Them for You Wholesale - Neil Gaiman
    5. The Big Flash - Norman Spinrad
    6. Kindness - Lester del Rey
    7. The Underdweller - William F. Nolan
    8. Lucifer - Roger Zelazny
    9. To the Storming Gulf - Gregory Benford
    10. The Feast of Saint Janis - Michael.Swanwick
    11. The Wheel - John Wyndham
    12. Jody After the War - Edward Bryant
    13. Salvage - Orson Scott Card
    14. By Fools Like Me - Nancy Kress
    15. The Store of the Worlds - Robert Sheckley
    16. Dark, Dark Were the Tunnels - George R. R. Martin
    17. "If I Forget Thee, Oh Earth..." - Arthur C. Clarke
    18. Afterward - John Helfers
    19. When We Went to See the End of the World - Robert Silverberg
    20. Flight to Forever - Poul Anderson
Mix of good and terrible stories.
The good stories carried the narrator, but the others only enhanced a droning and rather flat performance.

Oz is in most stories and usually he is the bad guy. Here are just some of the many faces of Dorothy you will meet. Gay Dorothy, General Dorothy, Nursing Home Dorothy, Sim Dorothy, Techno Mage Dorothy, Dorothy the Witch, Dorothy of the Mental Ward, Chinese Dorothy, Contestant Dorothy, Savior Dorothy, Murderer Dorothy and A Dorothy to end all Dorothys. STORIES ARE MADE UP, EXCEPT WHEN THEY ARE NOT.

    Action Without Honor
Would you try another book from Sandra Miller and/or Gabrielle Olexa?
    Yes!
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The most interesting aspect was about "attitudes". How attitudes change when actually getting to know someone...and getting to know yourself.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
    Nothing comes to mind
Did The Enemy in the Mirror inspire you to do anything?
    Examine my attitudes more closely.
    Any additional comments?
This is an excellent novella professionally narrated and I would recommend it to everyone.
A good way to pass the time
What did you like best about The Enemy in the Mirror? What did you like least?
The story was fun, and had a couple of likable characters. None of the characters were particularly believable, nor, for that matter was the plot. The villains had bond-esque moments where their dialogue was used for exposition.
Has The Enemy in the Mirror turned you off from other books in this genre?
    Absolutely not!!!
What does Gabrielle Olexa bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
The voice helped cover up a lot of the bad dialogue. The character's, particularly the old drunk and the southern waitress felt very real.
Did The Enemy in the Mirror inspire you to do anything?
    Daydream
    Any additional comments?
Not a bad way to spend an hour.
    Monster Mash
Would you consider the audio edition of The Enemy in the Mirror to be better than the print version?
    Yes
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The invasion was interesting but the peaceful solution was farfetched.
Have you listened to any of Gabrielle Olexas other performances before? How does this one compare?
    No I haven't.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
    Not really
    Any additional comments?
    none
    A good story
Would you consider the audio edition of The Enemy in the Mirror to be better than the print version?
I would if I had read the print version.
What did you like best about this story?
The conflict with the main character.
What does Gabrielle Olexa bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
The feeling of someone who you know is telling the tale, not just some stranger.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
The Enemy in the Mirror: A New Hope
    Any additional comments?
    Gabrielle is awesome.
An extrordinary short story and perfect voice
If you could sum up The Enemy in the Mirror in three words, what would they be?
    Interesting, impressive, valuable
What about Gabrielle Olexas performance did you like?
Gabrielle is really doing good! Very nice voice and professional in story telling!

Longtime narrators Scott Brick and Stefan Rudnicki rub elbows with Star Trek alum Wil Wheaton and five others. The varied narrators mean that there's no common delivery style, but it's safe to say that everyone involved was having fun." (AudioFile)

    not just for sci-fi fans
What did you love best about Rip-Off!?
The premise is take a classic line from another story and/or plot of another story and make it their own. All the narration was fabulous as well. There is also a forward from each author about this challenge put before them. I enjoyed all the stories but I will focus on my favorites Mike Resnick's "the evening line" where Harry and Benny give us color commentary on which woman is going to relieve Malone of his winnings from the race. Hilarious!! Including Zombies and Mages. Allen Steeles "the Big Whale" Where Captain Ahab's wife contracts Ishmael, a hard boiled private dick, to investigate her husbands lover Moby. The story starts where Ishmael just got back from doing work on the unlawful termination case of Bartleby the Scrivenor, who, when he went to collect payment, said he would prefer not to lol. Paul de philiipo "death as she has truly lived" All I am going to say about that is it's the story of my (after)life. I love Mark Twain and this is quite a different adventure than Huckleberry Finn had. I laughed out loud through the whole story.
What did you like best about this story?
The above mentioned stories were the top three funny stories. I also want to mention how great john scalzi's and James Patrick Kelly's stories. John scalzi usually writes campy sci-fi stories but "muse of fire" was not at all campy. It was very well written and beautifully narrated by Wil Wheaton.
