    Dumb Doctor
Although the first few books in this series were entertaining, the last couple have been entirely disappointing.
For a highly educated women, doctor Sophie was dumber than dirt. She had sex with violent, sociopath Derek, got pregnant, then decided she had to tell him about the baby. While I normally believe that a man deserves to know about a pregnancy, I didn't understand why Sophia trusted Derek so easily.
Rather than wait for Derek to return from his latest mission, Sophie followed him into a dangerous situation without considering the consequences to her unborn child. Why would an intelligent doctor, who has treated too many victims of violence, be so naïve?
Derek's mission (saving a team member from a sadistic human slaver) was dark and depressing, with lots a graphic descriptions of rape, torture and murder. The sex scene (in a dirty prison cell) was particularly unromantic and unbelievable.
Needless to say, I did not find Midnight Revenge romantic or enjoyable.

    Publisher's Summary:
FUSE, a new standalone novella from New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal best-selling author Deborah Bladon.
Brighton Beck has the life that many men can only dream of. He's a successful artist, he has a loving family, and he's surrounded by people who appreciate and respect his talent. If anyone looked in from the outside, they'd see a perfect life, but he's lost two women he loved, and that stalled him in his tracks. Beck is stuck in a bottomless pit of self-pity, and it's starting to impact not only his loved ones and friendships but his career, too.
Zoe Cameron is dealing with her own demons when she lands in Manhattan in anticipation of starting law school. She's determined to leave her past behind, but she's experienced her own personal loss, and the only way she knows how to deal with it is by pretending it never happened.
When Beck and Zoe meet, the attraction is instant and absolute. She lights a fuse beneath him that propels him back into his art studio and his element. As their friendship shifts into something more, Zoe realizes that the only way anyone can truly move on is to accept their past. Will Beck be there for her when she's ready to expose her deepest secrets, or will his own fears steal him away?

    incredibly? My favorite...
I literally started reading Deborah Bladon six days ago and have read my way through the entire series, including the free novellas I could access. I am in love with her writing! While I did not take the time to review the previous series/standalones, let me assure you that you need to start from the beginning and just enjoy....from this affirmation I will say that "Fuse" is my absolute, by far, favorite story. I was not impressed with Beck in the Obsessed series. Really, I did not see his appeal, at all! I believe the author decides to build characterizations based on her hero/heroine and allows the reader to perceive the secondary characters as they will. Smart...because we see many of the secondary characters in the books to come. However, this practice is risky because a reader tends to make assumptions and, therefore, judges a character based on slim information. Certainly, I misunderstood Beck from his appeal/appearance, to his personality, to his charismatic talent in the very first installment "obsessed." I never understood Beck's presence! In Fuse, we see a thoroughly grown up man. Honestly, of all Bladon's spectacular alphas, Beck is the most appealing. I believe his honesty and FOUND integrity elevate him above the entire character list. Again, I NEVER thought I would see this revelation. Zoe...Zoe...all I can say is that she is wonderful. Please, please give me another standalone with Beck navigating her through the sh@$st$&m that is her past! Her story must be revealed and their love deserves more attention!!! Good grief, my family hates me as I have gorged on this library of characters and stories. I apologize that I did not review each series ( I DO NOT REVIEW INSTALLMENTS AS I HATE SERIALS. THIS IS NOT THE 1800's people! Write books! ). But, I was enthralled...true story...and could not stop reading. I did not enjoy each series equally. I have a love in descending order list, but really the entire library should be read, somewhat in order, to appreciate the growth of characters and relationships.

    Title: Nothing Like Love
    Author: Abigail Strom
    Narrator: Emily Durante
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 6 hrs and 28 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 02-16-16
    Publisher: Brilliance Audio

    Genres: Romance, Contemporary
    Publisher's Summary:
Simone Oliver prides herself on being a realist and a cynic. A brilliant set designer for a Manhattan theater company, she thrives in the background and is perfectly comfortable in jeans, Chuck Taylors, and a paint-smeared T-shirt. That is, until Zach Hammond, the award-winning (and sexy-as-hell) British director, turns the spotlight on her. He's clearly captivated by her and won't take no for an answer - but Simone is determined to maintain her position that love's not worth the risk.
A hopeless romantic who can quote Shakespeare on a whim, Zach has spent his life center stage, surrounded by world-famous actors and royalty. But nothing he's seen can compare to what Simone can create. Before long, he finds himself as mesmerized by her brash beauty as he is by her work, and he's determined to seduce her stubborn heart.
But while the two may have been successful at relegating romance to the wings in New York, when their production moves to a centuries-old Irish castle in County Clare, there may be just enough magic to give true love the curtain call it deserves.
    Members Reviews:
Great, other than the weird attempt at a British accent
I picked this up via Kindle Unlimited after Strom's "Almost Like Love." It isn't a sequel, but picks up with a different couple where the other leaves off. I enjoyed the character development, the romance, the background of theater and Shakespeare, and the story as a whole. It's light and occasionally predictable, but it isn't one-dimensional, either. We come to understand Simone through her deepest fears and losses as well as her joys and wit.
My only complaint was with the narrator's awkward attempt at Zach's British accent. She pulls off a great Irish accent when the time comes, but I couldn't get over the stiffness of the way she voiced Zach. It wasn't quite irritating enough to switch to the text version, and once I got used to it I didn't mind too much - it's just difficult to be enamored with him when he sounds so silly.
    Cute
Cute quick read, would have liked steamier love scenes though. Wrapped up pretty quickly but I expected that.
    Not my favorite
My least favorite book I've "read" in a while. Loved the first one. Hoping the 3rd one will be better.
    Warning! Narrator is HORRIBLE.
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I stopped listening a few times and read the Kindle version, then I steeled myself to finish listening so I could warn other readers about the bad job the narrator made of this book.
What other book might you compare Nothing Like Love to and why?
The story was fun, the people and places appealing and attractive. Author's other books are fun -- like this one -- a chick lit theme.
What didnt you like about Emily Durantes performance?
Not much. Her male voices were terrible. They sounded like they had colds and the hero's British accent was abysmal. Truly horrible.
What would have made this romance irresistible?
A narrator who could handle the hero's masculine British accent. He didn't sound anything like the hero the author described.
    Any additional comments?
I won't bother with any other books narrated by Emily Durante. I'll read them instead. I don't care if they only have American accents. She can't carry off a male voice.

Mirror, mirror, who's the fairest of them all?
I still cringe when I hear that line. A fairy tale that had girls pretending they were the fairest, the most beautiful, and the most entitled. A fairy tale most couldn't grow out of turned my haunted childhood memories into a living nightmare. Girls who grew up believing that pile of garbage became the meanest of all mean girls. And those mean girls were right. It was a line meant for all the beautiful people in the world, and I knew the answer would never be me. The answer would always be the women with long legs, flat stomachs, and perfect chests - the type of women Kane Masters gravitated toward.
Well, that's definitely not Willow Tate. No. That will never be me, because I'm completely imperfect. I have no idea what Kane could possibly see in someone like me when he could have them.
    Members Reviews:
Heartwarming romance with a great message....
    Any additional comments?
First and foremost I must mention the performance: 5 well-deserved, I love Zachary Webber and Shirl Rae stars!!! This is my first Harper Sloan book, and my primary reason for buying it was because of this duo of narrators. If you haven't listened to a book narrated by either of these exceptional performers, you are missing out!
The books itself was great. I loved the characters...especially Willow and her phoenix-like rebirth. She was a destroyed woman...kicked repeatedly while she was down. Her rise and redemption was a thing of beauty.
The story was rather like a modern-day Cinderella. Willow's meltdown at her stepfather's company was sad but satisfying. Her return for closure was a thing of beauty that made me want to start high-fiving anyone in my vicinity!
The romance between Willow and Kane was sweet. Willow denies Kane's interest initially because she can't imagine why the perfect male specimen of a movie star could desire her. As Willow slowly becomes comfortable in her skin (a voluptuous size 14), the romance blossoms and sexual tension builds.
The only thing that I didn't like about this book was the time-skipping. There were events particularly during the building of the romance that should have been detailed. Large chunks of time were missing and glossed over with only a passing mention. This made the story choppy. I get that it had to take place over years, but there are more seamless ways to accomplish this. Cutting out the nitty-gritty of a courtship in a romance novel is a bad move. Sloan, I hope you have an ex-editor you hate for having done this to your book.
With that said, Perfectly Imperfect was a good romance read. Well worth a credit.
This was the best of all her books
This book is an erotic, romance novel. Loved every min.
I have to say this one really had me in tears and screaming all within five mins. The story between two people was so strong and the abuse that one person has to overcome just to be free of the past.
Willow use to know unconditional love through her mother but as she grew and her mother remarried, she soon became acquainted with a love that came with conditions. Starving and striving to give all she can to retain the love of her step father after her mother's death is a long dream that will be come to light.

    A Feel Good Read
This was a typical contemporary romance, nothing standout. It moved slowly in the beginning and had incomplete plot points. The story was okay but it didn't entice me to listen to other books in the series.
    great book
it has a great mixture of love and real life this book and best of all happily ever after my favorite
    Wonderful!
Such a wonderful story brought to life by the fantastic Narriator. It had humor, adventure and love. I love this author.
    Great Read
The story of Autumn and her life experiences is a wonderful read. Her family upbringing wasn't idealistic but she does her best to make her life better. You can't change who your family is or where you come from but you can definitely make changes to have a better life for your future. This is her story.
I enjoyed this book, it was an easy listen. Although I do prefer the narration to be both male and female, but still it was good narration.

    Heartwarming veteran story!
    Any additional comments?
Wind Chime Wedding written by Sophie Moss is a wonderful and heartwarming contemporary romance with a military hero! This book begins not long after the first book ends on Heron Island, a small residential island in the Chesapeake Bay, Maryland. It was so nice to see many familiar faces from the first book, Wind Chime Cafe, which is not surprising considering the setting is primarily set on an island that has a total population of 200 residents year round. Cafe owner Annie and her fiancé Will (who are still not married) make a few appearances in the story. And the ending of this book is so satisfying on many fronts!
Wind Chime Wedding centers on second grade teacher Becca Haddaway who is only a few weeks away from marrying her high school sweetheart after 16 years of being engaged, and moving to Washington, DC. Distracting her from her wedding plans is a fight to keep the school she loves so dearly open. Not only does she teach there, she attended the school as a child, and she teaches in the same classroom that her deceased mother taught in 16 years before. Simply put, she loves living on Heron Island and doesn't want to move away from it and all of her friends. Thankfully, she is finally starting to have second thoughts (as if being engaged for 16 years wasn't enough).
Helping Becca in her cause to save the school is former Navy SEAL Colin Foley who arranges a meeting between Becca and his father, the current Maryland governor. Colin has been living on Heron Island for the past year renovating an old inn and converting it into a veteran's center for wounded soldiers. Colin's backstory is just heartbreaking. Besides losing his leg serving his country, he lost a finance the day he got back from war, and his mother blames him for the death of his younger brother who died in military service "following in his footsteps." Colin's mother is just downright nasty and she tries to sabotage the veteran's center by trying to taint the funds supporting it. I hope she rots in jail!
Hollis McCarthy narrated this story and I was thoroughly entertained by her performance. Her narration flows naturally at an even pace and she was easy to listen to. She has differing voices for all characters, male and female, and young and old.

Kayla Moore has always been comfortable with her feisty, maneating reputation. At least it was fine until she hit her 30s and saw her best friends, Stephanie and Nicola, settle down with Linden and Bram McGregor, leaving Kayla as the odd one out. Tired of being the third wheel with nothing but one-night stands and dead-end dates in San Francisco, Kayla decides to take a vow of celibacy and put men on the back burner. Members Reviews:
I would suggest reading rather than listening.
I have gotten used to these quirky narrators. Yes...their accents are...original. But I love this series.
Story was strong. Shone through the narration. Worth the read!
    Decent story, painful narration
I wanted to like this one but I really struggled. Antony Ferguson did a fine job with the Scottish brogue but his falsetto female voice was annoying. Jillian Macie has a nice voice and her narration of Kayla was fine. Her attempt at a brogue, however, was downright painful. Truly, it was so bad that it was a distraction from the storyline. I'm not even sure what to compare it to. It certainly wasn't Scots but I can't say it was like any accent I've ever heard. Just. Plain. Bad.
If I had it to do over again, I would skip this one. It was too annoying to put up with for 17 hours. I forced myself to listen all the way through and, while the story was okay, I felt like I wasted my time. Once it was over, my lingering feeling about the audiobook was simply annoyance.
    Couldn't go far
I will stick with about any book that I purchase. However, this "hot and sexy" book about a 30-year-old living in San Francisco sounded more like a 16-year-old virgin's dream of what having unlimited sex was going to be like when she grew up. I agree with others that the narration doesn't help.
Things continue to devolve. When she refers to a 71-year-old mother as old and failing it was almost too much. I know she is incorporating her mothers grief in her description, but most of the 71-year-old people I know would be pretty offended with the depiction.
Narrated in first person, the young woman is supposed to be a college educated professional in a big city. She comes across as naïve and just trashy. Nothing wrong with liking sex but I don't want to hear the word "dick" 10 times in the first chapter before she even gets to the story.
I capture a romance novel every now and then for some good, simple, straight out sex, but this is just way too simple.
Narration was difficult to listen to
I would just agree that the narration of the story was distracting.

    Beyond Doubt
What did you like best about Beyond Doubt? What did you like least?
I got bored with the story maybe because I did not have the first book.i didn't feel connected to the characters. yes, they're nice but they do not have a good appeal to me.
Sexy, honorable & smart wind this billionaire in!
    Any additional comments?
Brandy was a gal with two wonderful friends, Gabby and Lillian and a very supportive family. Gabby happened to be her boss in a large corporation, a corporation owned by Gabbys family. The three of them had been in university together, but now were struggling in the real world. Brandy wanted to be a lawyer, but for the moment she had to work. She was quick on her feet, intelligent, with really great looks. The camaraderie between the girls was very warming the perfect kind of friends to have.
Enter Aaron Gabbys brother who has been gone from the family since he was 18. Gabby had heard rumors about his womanizing, etc. and was afraid to let him back into her life. God knows what hed been up to. Brandy, being the good friend she was, made a point in steering Aaron away from Gabby. Aaron kept seeking her out. Things get a little tricky when Brandy would prefer to sneak off with Aaron, however much she wanted her mind and body take the high way. Energy between them absolutely sizzled. She knew the type he was though. He was a player and no good for her. Brandy had a pretty good idea he was using her to get to Gabby. Was it working? Hmmm
I picked up this book because of the narrator, Valerie Gilbert. She has written some of her own books, does narrations as well. Since her books were more like memoirs and sharing her thoughts, I got to know her well. I dont know if Ms. Boulton created this story for Ms. Gilbert, or Ms. Gilbert hit upon the perfect story for the character resonates very strongly how I view Ms. Gilbert. And it is in first person! Ms. Gilbert is perfectly sarcastic, playing the part of Brandy who is full of snarky humor even about her own feelings, leaving me smirking throughout the listen. She narrates Brandy marvelously, particularly when Brandy talks to herself. I couldnt help but respect her strength, her wisdom and her view of life.
Once Ms. Boltons story started heating up with emotions pulling at the hero and heroine, I was totally connected. Experiences Brandy and Aaron faced were heart-achingly real. There was realization of what could have been, learning life can change on a dime and trust is not always easy to grant.

FIGHTING---NOT TO FALL ASLEEP ON THIS STORY
I hate giving negative reviews, especially with a series that has been incredibly enjoyable, until it just hits a flat note. Sadly, I literally had trouble staying awake--albeit, I was listening in the late evening while in bed, but I didn't expect the book to be a sedative! This one was just not up to par with the others. The passionate narration that I've enjoyed previously, was annoying and overkill. Overall, the story was decent, it was funny and sexy in parts, but I didn't connect with Trix and Mason like the rest of the fighter crew. If you're a fan of the series and can get this through a sale--sure, I say have at it, otherwise, I'd just as well stop at the preceding novella, A FATHER'S FIGHT.
    Not your normal MMA romance

The story of Mason and Trix is not what I expected when it came to MMA romance stories. Trix has spent years plotting her revenge for her sisters death with no expectation of finding love. She has spent her time using her body to get information on her sisters killer. All of her relationships have been based on no strings, no attachments until she meets Mason. Mason is a UFL fighter who has had plenty of disappointments of being second best when it came to women. He is the nice guy that thinks he needs to be an a**hole in order to keep a womans interest. His first encounter with Trix is an accidental run in that leaves him wanting more from the woman that didnt back down to him being a jerk.
The story has plenty of twist and turns and the best part is there is no cliffhanger. The narrators do a great job with dual POVs. If you are expecting a lot of MMA fighting, then this is not the book for you. If you are looking for suspense, romance, and a story that catches you from the first chapter to the last, then this is for you.
    Definitely creditworthy
A little darker than rest of series
I've really enjoyed the books in the Fighting series, though this one took more for me to like. The heroine acted just plain stupid in places, blithely putting herself into deadly situations without thinking of consequences.

I met him in college, and I fell in love. It was a beautiful love, pure and perfect. Max quickly became everything I could have ever wanted. He was the jock, the popular guy, and I was just Belle - but he made me so much more. He gave me everything I could have ever wanted in life. But one night, one accident changed everything. The man I thought I knew disappeared. I can't tell you the exact moment he fell out of love with me, but he did. I wish I could tell you there was hope. That I hung on. That I fought. I wish I could tell you that we fixed it. But we couldn't, and I ran. In the dead of the night, I packed my things and left him. Five years later, I have returned. He's still the same man I left behind - a deadly underground fighter for the House of Obsidian. He's still dangerous. He's still broken. I still love him. We're both holding a secret, and that secret might just change everything.

    I Enjoyed this one
It was sweet, enjoyable ,hot sex and worth a credit. My only criticism is that it was only 5 hours and I don't like using one credit for less than 7 hours. I don't even buy books that are 2 , 3 hours. My credits are worth too much. And That's Real Talk!

This book is definitely a must read. The main characters take you in from the beginning with their story. Their past is revealed throughout the book, as well as the path they both took separately to try and mead their broken hearts. Everyone loves a story about love being lost and then being salvaged. Your journey within this book is bumpy, but the ending is smooth (emotionally not physically).
The narrators did an excellent job portraying the characters and you get to catch up with some of the characters from The Joker's Wrath MC, if you have read other books by Bella Jewel.
    Drama
This is an erotic love story with drama.
Max is a college jock with a reputation to uphold and that being dating the prettiest and easiest girl on campus and to keep up appearances. But when a shy but smart mouth glass wearing but gorgeous girl slams into him in the hallway he is drawn to the bluest eyes. Max find himself living life and falling in love with a woman that will always hold his heart. Until one night he is a witness to an auto accident and it will change the rest of his life.
Belle had no idea what love was until Max saved her, he was everything she ever wanted and needed until one day he was gone, he saw something and what he saw took the man she loved. Now 5 years later, secrets are reveled and hearts are going to break. Belle has spent five years loving a man that left her to protect a greater secret. Will it destroy them or bring them together, because they are both stubborn.
Keep it up Bella Jewel, loving it.
    Angsty Love Story
ok the book was enjoyable. I didn't like or dislike the characters. Annabelle was selfish and childish. I don't like when a woman leaves and never tells the dude she was pregnant. Unless he beat the crap out of you then; nope. I couldn't wrap my head around WHY Max went into a spiral. I don't understand how people take on blame for stuff that was out of their control.
The book read as a Tarantino movie. Annabelle was narrating the present and Max narrated the past. The past tells us why we are in the situation in the present.
