How do we fill the world with contemporary sages and kick-ass saints, who are as adept at surrendering themselves to authenticity as they are at innovating initiatives of breathtaking power? Igniting Your Soul at Work provides some insightful answers to that question.
This isn't your ordinary type of leadership book, manual, or mandate. Robert leads us in another direction, where we can expand our worldview to allow greater understanding, wisdom, and effectiveness to reveal itself.

A Daring And Important Book for Leaders of All Stripes
Who the hell is this Robert Rabbin, a self-professed mystic, to tell us how to run a corporation, a country, a chamber of commerce, a classroom? Some of his ideas are just...well... a Vice President of Corporate Consciousness? Self-realized captains of industry??? Aren't his sentiments the antithesis of the bottom-line driven hierarchy of power and prestige in this world?
Yup...and look at what our current mentality has gotten us: Dot-com failures. Columbine. Global warming. Oil wars. Enron. Not one but two Bushes in the White House. Something is obviously out of kilter.
Rabbin has worked for many years as a consultant to companies large and small. His interest is not in the bottom line, but in
personal clarity, self-awareness, the soul connection with all that is...that place within from whence true innovation, accountability, and success can't help but spring forth.
In a nutshell (and in Rabbin's own words):
"If we are not actively and vigorously exploring and expanding our consciousness, our awareness, then we are not qualified for leadership of any kind. At this time, with so much on the line, we simply must have leaders who can end madness by the sheer power of their clarity of cause and effect, their empathy towards reality, and their resoluteness to live and work as servants of life itself."
If you are the head of a business, the head of a country, the head of a household -- heck, if you have a head! -- you owe it to yourself and those influenced by you to read this accessible, common-sense book and take its principles to heart.
    Igniting the Soul at Work
Most books make me fall asleep at night, "Igniting the Soul at Work" became my stimulant. It was like a match on an already lit pilot light, it ignited something even deeper inside of me. Immediately I would stop and relate what Rob said to my life, the reflections inspired me to action. It's made me re-define who I am as a business owner and what it is I truly want to convey out in the world. The internal reflection time was the practical part of all of this. His words ignited introspection and the reflection suggestions helped me make it practical to my life. Twelve years ago, after just one consulting session with Rob, I started my business and am now living my dream. His words in this book continue to have that same power of inspiration that lead me to authentication. I highly recommend this to everyone, because it challenges us all to question ourselves. When we do this we all make the world a better place to live.
Rob Writes Straight from his Soul
For over a year, I've been exchanging emails with Robert Rabbin, a self-described mystic and catalyst for clarity, whose website I found one day while surfing the web. Rob's writing is powerful and liberating, but not in any ordinary way.

    Format: Unabridged
Length: 2 hrs and 38 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 06-07-10
    Publisher: Hudson Audio Publishing
Ratings: 3.5 of 5 out of 2 votes
    Genres: Business, Leadership
    Publisher's Summary:
In an age when we're almost drowning in a sea of literature on the subject of leadership, this book explores the topic with a simplicity that allows the listener to access the authors wisdom borne out of years of hard practice and learning not a false simplicity offering trite answers or solutions. The majority of books on leadership peddle a variation of the Great Man theory of leadership: leadership is for those special individuals born with a rare and mythical set of qualities who step forward at the right moment with the right answer. Some offer an easy path follow a few quick, easy steps and you too can have what it takes to be a great leader. Many are simply management tools worthwhile but distinct from the leadership question. Plenty of leadership with silver bullets! Most of these books are not very helpful to anyone serious about exercising leadership on tough, complex challenges in the 21st century.
Leadership Without Silver Bullets offers a refreshing antidote to this plethora of stale or simplistic notions of leadership, with author Phillip Ralph approaching the topic with an unusual combination of clarity, honesty, and insightfulness. This is done by debunking many of the modern myths on leadership, while constructing an accessible and eminently applicable model for todays organizational challenges. This book provides an eminently practical guide for listeners who wants to see real change and growth in themselves and their organizations.
    Critic Reviews:
I have had the privilege of seeing the results of Phillip Ralphs work as a leadership coach. He is outstanding. I can highly recommend this book as both practical and inspiring, with valuable insights on how leadership in organizations really works. (Michael Rennie, Managing Partner, McKinsey and Company, Australia and New Zealand)
Phillip has done a great job of not only synthesising the latest in leadership theory but adding new and practical insights that will assist anyone who is passionate about their own leadership journey or making a difference in their places of work. (Mark Priede, Head of Culture Strategy (Australia), National Australia Bank)
    Members Reviews:
    Review by if-development
The book's theme matches our beliefs about leadership development - so naturally we liked this about it! We also liked the way Phillip Ralph has distilled some of the more useful and current thinking about leadership into his 7 Sphere's 'model'. We found it quite refreshing that his model was NOT overly neat and that some actions, behaviours and principles get repeated and spill over into other spheres.
Throughout the book, Ralph offers quotes from some well known authors and regular readers of leadership books will also spot principles from a wide range of unnamed sources including Servant Leadership, Crucial Conversations, Five Dysfunctions of a Team etc. Not that this is a bad thing; we even had some fun playing "spot the source"!
We particularly liked Ralph's definition of leadership and have added it to the range of definitions we include in our development programmes. He is also clearly challenging about the leader-follower relationship; and this made us think about whether we are still subconsciously promoting this paradigm in our work.

    Critic Reviews:
"A useful and readable account of how some extraordinary leaders operate outside 'leadership as usual'." (Warren Bennis, Distinguished Professor of Management, University of Southern California)
    Members Reviews:
A Must Read for College Students
As a student currently studying business and communication at the collegiate level, I found this book extremely interesting and insightful. Dourado and Blackburn write the book in an easy-to-read format, which makes it a quick read packed full of useful information. The real world examples and quotes make each secret come to life and put its application in a current situation. The idea of being an inspired leader is one that not talked about in the classroom, but this book tackles the subject and brings about discussing leadership in a new way that involves current world situations like globalization and the rapid growth of technology. One phrase the book states that really hit me hard was: "Being inspired is a virus". The book goes into more detail about each metaphor it makes and but what really makes this a great read is the amount of vivid metaphors the authors use to really make sense of complicated issues. I was also impressed how each secret seemed independent, yet formatted in a somewhat hierarchy. I felt this gives the reader the sense that as they turn each page, they are continually building on what they just read. Not only does this book make you look inside yourself to see what qualities you possess as an inspired leader, it made aware of the type of organization and leadership that I want to work with once I graduate. Overall, Dourado and Blackburn do an excellent job of creating a book on leadership that is informative, helpful, and most importantly current. Yet this book has implications that are omnipresent and would be useful to leaders of all ages. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to hold a leadership position in any aspect of their life and I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is about to graduate college and head into the work force.
A small book with big ideas
This is a great little book with a lot of big ideas. Ideas like the notion of permission marketing where the authors argue that one of the jobs of a leader is to time communication to customers according to when, and how, it benefits the customer. I agree wholeheartedly with their premise that research is no substitute for engagement.
