Not For Me

Although I like the Ann Cleeves books I found the narration on this too fast and bland. It was difficult to get into the story as it seemed to be read as if the narrator was bored and wanted to get the story off as quick as possible. I hope others enjoy this much more than I have.

Not bad, not great.

The other books in this series were better. The story starts out with Lady Amanda's usual brand of outrageousness, but eventually the story becomes plodding and lackluster. By the time you discover whodunit, you don't really care anymore.

Excellent

I loved the whole series. Elderly sleuths were a great change. I loved the Carribean setting. I would recommend to all mystery lovers.

Great British cozies

I am totally hooked on this author at the moment. I finish a book and then look for the next. If you want this sort of addictive read, I recommend you give these a try. Great British cozies.

If reading this series in order of writing this was very slow reading. Still good reading but no really surprises.

Addicted to Kennedy's books

Beautifully descriptive.

Wonderfully suspenseful.

Great characters.

Second chance at love.

I didn't think the author could write another series as good as her CSI series, I was so wrong. The guys of SSI are engaging, alpha and damn good at their jobs.

Leading the guys is the secretive and enigmatic Townes Calvert who has brought together a team of the best.

Book two of my new favorite Kennedy Lane series has his operative Royce Haverton on

personal detail while his partners investigate the murder attempts on Cailyn Geneva.

Cailyn is writing a human interest story on the murdered sister of a convicted serial killer who was charged with her murder and executed. In the background the threat of an active serial killer ups the ante on Townes secretive past.

A real blast from the past for Royce has him questioning the last 12 years and Cailyn in a tailspin. I was able to connect with the characters and the secondary characters held up well.

Wonderful

Can you go back years and rekindle a love you thought you lost - Royce is assigned to protect Cailyn when they find out that neither one has stopped loving the other - lots of twist and turns in this one and a shocking suspect

Muy buena conclusión a la trilogía de Valentina Negro

Empece a leer este libro sin haber leído su predecesor (falta que resolveré), por lo cual algunos detalles y alusiones se me escaparon. Aunque sigue el esquema familiar de "Crímenes exquisitos" sobre arte y destrucción, mantiene el suspense hasta el final y, faltaba menos el añadir esto, contiene una buena dosis de morbo.

Um grand finale a la trilogía

Tras leer los dos primeros libros, yo tenía dudas si los escritores lograrían mantener mi interés y atención en la secuela final. ¡Y lo han logrado! Aunque los protagonistas ya son muy conocidos, la trama fue sorprendente y mereció cada minuto de lectura.

Excelente novela, los personajes recrean de manera extaordinaria el entramado que poco a poco lleva al lector a beberse las líneas para saber qué es lo que está detrás de esa máscara de espejos.

Totalmente recomendable.

Magnífica

Magnífico final para la trilogía Negro-San Juan. Una historia de suspenso y misterio brillante, precisa, casi cinematográfica. Deseamos leer más.

This audiobook is very enjoyable not the usual crime thriller I listen but it was easy to get into plus held my attention from beginning to the end several stories mingling into one a bit raunchy in places and a bloodbath at the end

Great story

I really enjoyed this story. I have to be honest, I didnt at first. I had a difficult time following the switches that take place. Once I figured that out, I still had a little trouble, but it was much better. I almost quit, but I am glad I didnt. It is a great story with a great ending. I think you will enjoy it.

This book wasnt for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

This book may be enjoyed by someone with a different tolerance for fringe behaviors and thicker skin, I was turned off at every turn.

Has Random Bullets turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, I will pay closer attention to the overall storytelling though, not at all my taste.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator didn't match the vocal inflection to the story, the highs and lows in volume and timbre were very distracting in being overdone in simple conversation and almost missing when needed to sell the story. A bit to Monte Python, over the top for me.

You didnt love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Not really, fat shaming, victimizing young girls, etc. Not my kind of mystery.

Any additional comments?

The overall writing style and pace was well done but the sensationalism was overkill, just present the story simply and give us the needed details, there really is no need to waste a whole chapter on why someone is overweight, sum it up and move on, we get it.

There was really no way to follow the book with this narrator, he was all over the place in his infliction and didn't even bother to change his voice or even the pace of his narration with different characters. His rather cheery voice saying "And he shot him in the back of the head." was so distracting and out of place, I had to take a month long break from this book.

Very random, difficult to follow.

Looks like the author wanted to mash multiple genres in this book and as a result, created a confusing mess of a story. It proved very difficult to get into and I couldn't understand what was really going on or where it was all headed. I had to abandon the after a point.

The narration too was pretty bland.

What just happened?

Im not sure what is going on in this book. I couldnt get into it or see the point in finishing it. Its very choppy and the narration is not great. I received a review copy at my request and voluntarily reviewed.

Excellent series

The latest in the Cincinnati series is another gripping story with twists. I like the characters who fill each book yet a new set take the lead in the following book. This one focuses on Adam, his love interest being Meredith. Each has their own story, plus the main theme, all of which intertwine intriguingly. Karen Rose has another success here.
