Get The Ref! - Alberta's Blood Bowl Roundup

A new edition of Blood Bowl will bring changes to how we play the game in general, but it will have ramifications for those of us competing in the Great Plains Grand Prix. What can you expect? We hash it all out here for you - the Good, the Bad, and the Nurgly! Scott, Josh, Lair, and Darcy recap the month that was, including an update on the winner of Winter Mayhem, Bella Chao!

Need a little refresher on what has changed? Goonhammer did a nice job of recapping the surface level changes, if not all the wigglily interactions and whether Secure the Ball is impacted by rain....because of course it is, right!?!?!

Winter Mayhem is THIS WEEKEND in Calgary and we have the scoop for you! With 42 coaches over 14 teams, this is the biggest team tournament in Alberta. Who is playing what? What rosters can you expect to compete against? What kind os swag can you expect?

Learn about it all in this bonus episode!

The wait is over! The new edition is up for pre-order as of Saturday, November 1...and we are here to walk you through the things we know for sure and to wildly speculate on all the things we don't know! All in all, there are a lot of changes coming and we have lots of big feelings about all of it!

In addition, we recap the Fall Frenzy, update the West Coast Grand Prix standings, and look ahead to the tournaments to come! Winter Mayhem, the Prairie Oyster, Cry Fowl, and Hammerslam! No end of goodness for your dice-happy needs!

Today, we have a skeleton crew of three to talk about Spike! 2025, Alberta's EuroBowl connection, and the lack of BB2025 ruleset previews! We also update listeners on the state of the Great Plains Grande Prix, the Stunty Mafia campaign that is being headed up by Damion and Ryan, and take a peek at the upcoming calendar. Enjoy!

Well, it happened as advertised - we recorded an episode and then the Season Three annoucement came at 8am the next morning! Please be patient with our speculation - some of which is still accurate - and our confidence levels! Darcy was 5% certain! Now he can be 100% certain!

We also talk to Dave Sutton regarding his Summer Bash win, including how best to leverage Slann and the fouling meta that exists in Alberta.

In any case, we hope you give it all a listen - and if you have any further tips regarding how best to teach kids to paint, drop us a line!

Ah, what better way is there to enjoy the summer than to toss random Halfling Hopefuls through the warm, breezy air and to hear their bones crinkle as they hit the ground!

This month, there is a LOT of stunty talk, but also a catch up with recent tournament results! The Golden Tentacle, the Tacoma Open, the Golden Sausage... all need to be dissected! This includes special interviews with the Renegade Halfling Mafia, Dan and Damion, as well as a check in with Cale Lemay (aka The Best Canadian) and Justin Gatner!

Let us lay out our picnic basket so that you can all enjoy a little sausage and, of course, stunty talk!

Well, we have a jam packed episode that contains lots of content for you! We address some of the rumours with our best Ilya Bryzgalov impression, "It's only game, why you heff to be mad?"

We then make Connor's dream come true with SO. MANY. UNPOPULAR. OPINIONS!

Afterwards, we talk about Pow Town along with four interviews - including with Ken Wright, Rory Henry, and Mike Barker.

Finally, we cast our gaze to the summer as we set you up for a date with Pippen McSquee (aka Justin Gatner) and his Golden Sausage.

Tuck into this double-long episode and enjoy the goodness!

As of the recording, we are FIVE days away from the biggest tournament on the Great Plains Grand Prix circuit. The rosters have been submitted and are now revealed - and you don't even have to click through every single one, because we talk all about them in the next hour! So, if you are planning to attend, you might be able to glean a few strategic ideas from our conversation - and if you are not coming, maybe it will give you a few roster builds for your next 1.2 Million build tournament!

This episode, we take our skeleton crew and try and track down some rumours that we found on the internet... is it misinformation from Russian bots, or reliable insider infromation?! Only you - and time - will be the judges in this case!

Secondly, Barry reveals an expanded number of prizes to support the "Road to PowTown" painting challenge.

Then, we take a good look at the Alberta Classic and try and figure out a way in which Dave doesn't end up Champion.

Finally - we get you prepped for PowTown. What can you expect? Where can you eat? How many people are coming?!?!

Are you excited yet?!

This month, we chat about all things tournamnets in the Alberta scene, sprinkled in with a little bit of hear-say and wishes. We also announce the Road to PowTown painting challenge (listen for details) and make sure to give some attention to both our Great Plains Open tournament as well as the Blood DIamond Chalice. If you are so inclined, we also talk about the Alberta Classic that is coming up in May as well as PowTown 2025 that is right around the corner.
