    Narrator: Celena Glenn, Team Urbana
    Length: 2 mins
    Language: English

    Publisher: Words Worth Ink
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 2 votes
    Genres: Drama & Poetry, Poetry
    Publisher's Summary:
"The evolution of Taylor Mali the poet could be measured in the number of people his poetry has directly inspired to be teachers. Or the increasing cast of high school and college-age students who perform his words in forensic competitions. It could be measured in national poetry slam competitions. But I believe the poet is only as good as his words, and there is no better showcase for the words of Taylor Mali than this incredible collection of live performances. This is Taylor in his element: performing in front of live and writhing audiences demanding and receiving all the rough, raw, and authentic passion of Taylor Mali's poetry." Essential
One must give this an unqualified endorsement. Inasmuch as the book is free, who would not want it? On a linguistic level, Heine is easy to read; add to that the fact that he is supremely important in the history of German lyric poetry, not only for contributing some pieces--like "Die Lorelei"--central to the canon but also because (as even such detractors as Karl Kraus admit) he marks the beginning of a new phase in German poetry which eschews Goethean formality for an easy, more colloquial, familiarity.
COMPACT ENOUGH TO PACK IN FULL SUITCASES
My daughter loves these little yellow books because she plans on spending a while overseas and wants to take books with her. There are quite a few titles to choose from. Since she's traveling to Germany and is a German major, she stumbled upon these gems.
    Great stuff!
I learned one of his poems in German class as a kid. Great stuff!
    Price was right (free, IIRC)
I use it to practice and improve my service-connected German.
It has pretty much sat on the shelf, other projects taking precedence.
    Deutsche Lyrik
This book was first published in 1827 and is in the public domain, so you can find it for free as an e-book on several sites on the web. The printed edition has 119 pages. Heinrich Heine lived from 1797 till 1856. This 'Buch der Lieder' is among the first literary works he published.
This book contains lyric poems of the romantic area. These poems are still very popular. I will copy one poem from this book below so you can see whether you'll like this book or not. Most of the poems are short, like the one I copied, but some are a few pages long and tell a whole story. I recommend these 'Lieder' to anyone who likes to read German poetry.
    LXXXVII
Der Tod, das ist die kühle Nacht,
Das Leben ist der schwüle Tag.
    Es dunkelt schon, mich schläfert,
Der Tag hat mich müd gemacht.
Über mein Bett erhebt sich ein Baum,
    Drin singt die junge Nachtigall;
    Sie singt von lauter Liebe,
Ich hör es sogar im Traum.

    One of the best!!!
Just read this book with my coffee before work and what a way to kick off the day. Wow. These poems are the finest in human condition poetry dynamite. This lady is a league of her own. The two collections I've read so far have made such an impact and been so inspiring. She had my full attention after the opening poem 'memento' ordered me to go grab the kleenex box. Damn. My very favorites were 'the bar', 'aged to perfection', 'seatbelt', 'while the cat's away', 'no regrets', 'reality sets in', 'yours', 'stalking the stalked', 'accept', 'blue'...my absolute fav gem, 'on being'.
    Wonderful writing
The QMC's third book of poetry is very different from the previous two books. In No Apologies she said things how they were, there was a raw anger there, in No Secrets she revealed a lot about herself, again there was that raw anger. In No Regrets things are more reflective, lots of observational poems, very Bukowski-esque at times, some real emotional stuff about her parents and missing them, you can see this must have been tough to write, yet at the same time she must have got some therapy from completing it.
    There are some amazing lines here, one of my favourites;
    "My words are sirens
    hailing the coming
    of a s**t storm."
One thing that annoys the hell out of me is those who don't reply to an email/text, I have a friend who can take a week to get round to replying. In "Incommunicado" QMC has put down in words perfectly what I feel on the matter.
Once nice touch in this collection was the fourth wall being broken down, quite often a poem ends suddenly so the author can talk to the reader, this brought a smile to my face every time.
Best poem in the book for me was "definition" I've tried explaining QMC's writing to somebody before and never mange to get the right words, now I can just show them this poem as it is perfect.
Another great collection, and good news, at the end it mentions there is another book in progress. HUZZAH!!!
    You won't regret reading this!
Carter-Winward has lived a life thatâs worth writing about. Sex is always the main running theme, but the more I read her work, the more I understand that sheâs not really writing about sex at all â and it is that (for one thing) which makes her poetry stand head and shoulders above others (who are just writing about sexual experiences). Carter-Winward is writing about the human condition. Sheâs contrasting her life to others. She writes about growing up as a Mormon and turning her back on religion, she writes about family, and loss and injustice and stupidity. Sheâs knowingly allowing the reader to be a voyeur into every facet of her world: hence the titles of this trilogy of books: âno apologiesâ, âno secretsâ and âno regretsâ.
    J. A. Carter-Winward is the best contemporary poet I know of, end of.
One of the best poets working right now
Devastatingly honest, wickedly funny, packed with soul and compassion, this is a book to be read over and over again.

    Author: Geoffrey Chaucer

    Length: 1 hr
    Language: English
    Release date: 08-13-10
    Publisher: The Copyright Group
    Genres: Drama & Poetry, Poetry
    Publisher's Summary:
THE PARDONERS TALE AND THE NUNS PRIESTS TALE FROM CHAUCERS CANTEBURY TALES. It has been said that no translation, however studied and skilful, can do justice to the genius of Chaucers writing.
This work is therefore in the Middle English allowing all of us to at least sample the energy and vitality of Chaucers phrasing and appreciate an even more vivid recreation of his characters.
Robert Ross, whilst not a scholar, has the advantage of being a fine actor able to convey and interpret the richness of the language and the mastery of Chaucers verse.

    Great edition, just wish
Can't go wrong with Chaucer. Great edition, just wish, they would have split it into two volumes, or maybe even three with the third being the dictionary as a separate book. Would gladly pay extra for having three instead all in one. Happy reading!!!
    Chaucer
This book arrived quickly and its in current English. Reading Chaucer is difficult when you're accustomed to reading today's modern literature. But this makes it easier.
    Enjoyable
A must read for those who enjoy the classics!
Beware of the sycophant! (this and other caveats)
In the Nun's Priease Tale, Chaucer utters the most startingly 4 words constructed: Beware of the sycophant! Each tale, like the latter, also contains a moral. The best book in the English language this side of Shakesphere.
    Five Stars
Nice to listen to every month!
