    Publisher's Summary:
Musings With a Cuppa - The Poetry of Tea is a collection of original tea poetry dedicated to those who not only understand the complexity of creating a fine cuppa, but also appreciate the simplicity of its enjoyment. Although a product of this century, each poem embodies the flavor and spirit of Edwardian England. From the very beginning of the first verse the reader is taken back to the early 1900's where a gracious society was built on civility and decorum.
Musings With a Cuppa - The Poetry of Teais as essential at teatime as good company and fine conversation. So sit down with a cup in hand and, if only for a moment, enter the world of Earlene Grey.
Poetess Earlene Grey has been a patron of fine teas for nearly sixty years. Her poetry is a combination of personal insight and wisdom that is inspired by the properly brewed cuppa. Equipped with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a Masters degree in Business Administration, Earlene followed the path of a hectic business career before arriving at Musings With a Cuppa - The Poetry of Tea. Now with the business world behind her, the time has come for Earlene to share her insights of life and the pleasures of a cuppa through ... The Poetry of Tea.

    Delightful
    Any additional comments?
I listened to these poems with a cuppa and felt rather relaxed and uplifted afterwards. I enjoyed the gentle simplicity that they imparted, with the occasional dash of humour. As a lover of tea and poetry, I thought this was a pleasant audiobook.
    Good, but not great
I was pleased that the authors' poetry was written from a Christian perspective, but her musings were simply not great poetry. Perhaps my expectations were too high, and the book did not cost very much, but I found the poetry to be unremarkable.
I did, in fact, enjoy this book with a cup of tea on a lazy Sunday afternoon. I admit that I used the speed enhancer button to speed her up, and maybe that was a mistake, but again, I just couldn't really get into it.
I could still recommend this book for the low price, just don't expect Lord Byron.
Oh Dear - I really Do need Tea Now
What disappointed you about Musings with a Cuppa - The Poetry of Tea?
While poetry about and around tea has potential to be quite good, the narration was very poor.
If youve listened to books by Earlene Grey before, how does this one compare?
This was the first Earlene Grey that I've listened to and I won't be repeating the experience.
What didnt you like about Earlene Greys performance?
Her performance was grating and wooden. In some respects it was similar to listening to a young child reading. The words were read as they were written individually on the page but the reader lacked the confidence to string the words together to make them interesting or to sound anything other than just individual words. Something of a problem if you are going to narrate poetry.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
This was a really disappointing listen. Particularly as it was the poet narrating her own work.

  • I Am Phoenix Audiobook by Paul Fleischman

    Title: I Am Phoenix
    Subtitle: Poems for Two Voices
    Author: Paul Fleischman
Narrator: John McDonough, Carine Montbertrand, Ruth Ann Phimister, Richard Poe, Robert Ramirez
    Format: Unabridged
    Length: 16 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 04-25-12
    Publisher: Recorded Books
    Genres: Drama & Poetry, Poetry
    Publisher's Summary:
This collection of short poems from Newbery Award-winning author Paul Fleischman delightfully celebrates the essence of birds. The companion to Joyful Noise: Poems for Two Voices, its poems feature two voices speaking sometimes together and sometimes in turn.
Experience the magic and magnificence of the immortal phoenix. Enjoy the fluttering elation of finches at dawn and the swiftness of swallows at dusk. And empathize with the loneliness of the last passenger pigeon in the Cincinnati Zoo.
The musical voices of five excellent narrators perform these poems in harmonies and cadences as pleasing as birdsong. Their voices capture the melodic, rejoicing, soaring freedom of the beautiful aviary kingdom and occasionally, its loneliness and despair at being exploited by the human race.

Sweet somewhat sad stories about birds
I only wish he wrote more of these. I have this one and Joyful Noise and they are read frot to back every time my mom or sisters and I get together. I buy multiple copies and pass them around. Sweet somewhat sad stories about birds, but so beautiful to read.
Engages children and adults in a unique reading experience!
I've purchased these books for family and friends for years. This experience engages everyone's participation and interest, encouraging reading through unique delivery.
A truly wonderful collection of poems and voices.
"I Am Phoenix" is a great poem, as is "The Last Passenger Pigeon" and "The Common Egret". This book is so much fun to read aloud. Reciting a poem with a partner isn't as easy as it looks, but it's fun trying. My students enjoy the poems and we are able to discern the different voices of the birds ... prideful, sorrowful, joyful, etc. Get this book and the other poem for two voices about bugs -- when you get that one, enjoy "Cricket".
    Unpoetical us
We are a homeschool family with two students fourth grade and kindergarten-and-a-half. I ordered this and the author's other for two voices to promote an appreciation for poetry in all of us, but also to make reading look more appealing than it does to my younger student. It's working! I'm lazy. When I read poetry, I skip reading aloud for enjoyment, because it takes more time. Believing myself to be very busy, a conceit --since my days have as many hours as everyone else's, I also frequently fall into the trap of having only 'necessary' conversation with my children. Reading and rehearsing (yes, it takes a bit to learn to read them correctly) these poems engages us all socially. My oldest daughter and I are beginning music students, so I'm hoping this will help 'wire' our brains for ensemble performance. (But enough about us!) We've also enjoyed the content of both books--both words and pictures. Hope that helps.
    Five Stars
This is so good for my family after dinner performances. Young and old can enjoy performing two voiced poems.

    Riepilogo Editore:
