Sounds like it was written by an 11 year old girl.
It's a supposed to be a romantic novel. It would have been More romantic if it started, "They kissed. The end.
The voices were horrible. Devon sounded like a boy half of the time.
The scene with the cougar was so ridiculous and unrealistic I had to quit listening at that point.
Fun story, Well told, Great Narrator
Would you consider the audio edition of Dawson Chronicles Box Set, Books 1 - 3 to be better than the print version?
I prefer the audio version to the print. There are so many characters in this book that I can't imagine trying to come up with distinct voices for them all. While Mary Ann Weathers has several voices that sound the same, you can still tell who is supposed to be talking. And it's clear she tried to take cues from the text when it came to her choices.
What did you like best about this story?
Even though the romantic bits are a little hokey sometimes, I like that the stories aren't all sunshine and rainbows. Tragic things happen, but the community deals with them together. Mistletoe Mayhem deals with injustice; After the Storm deals with rape; Spirit Journey got a little strange with the Dakota magic, but even it dealt with some heavy issues. But the story stays well-paced and interesting.
Which scene was your favorite?
It's not a scene, per say, but I did enjoy Renee's falling-in-love arc.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I did cry after a certain death. I won't give away who's.

I see one or two reviews that comment on how terrible the narrator is. Not every narrator is everybody's cup of tea, but I have to disagree personally. I loved this narrator, and I would listen to her again. She didn't just read it, she acted it. And while not every audiobook narrator is a character voice actor, she did well with the limits of her voice, considering how many characters there were, both male and female.Some narrators get followings the way writers do. This one likely will, too.

The voices sounded like Alvin and the Chipmonks, very annoying. especially for Skip and Frankie (who also had a New York accent??? like, we'll Towalk Latah)--- the narration was so bad I couldnt get into the story at all. And I LOVED the series about Dawson, have read all of them! but THIS one, I detested and missed the old narrators from before. I don't understand how this got past Quality Control.
