She became his reason to live, his reason to love. And still she would deny him.
But while clan fought clan, while brother took up sword against brother and the highlands ran with blood - their destiny was made...and this mighty warrior pledged himself to his woman's pride, her honor, and her name - and made of their love a torch to burn through the ages.

If you could sum up Highland Velvet in three words, what would they be?
Awaited Great Classic. Note: listen on new 1.25x speed to get the full effect of this classic.
If you are new to this author, but love the older historical classics, this series is great.
What did you like best about this story?
Since the great Katherine Widdoweiss isn't on audible, the 4 Velvet brothers are a wonderful classic revisited. Many of us classic core historical romance fans have waited over 20 yrs for this series. Stephen will steal your heart. Remember, 20 years ago, men were men. This is not FSOG material, but a true classic historical.
Which character as performed by Gabra Zackman was your favorite?
Morag steals this story. Stephen is a dream. So glad author paired with Ms Zackman as few other readers could bring this saga series to life. Ms Zackman's Kyra Davis/Sophie Katz series is great for modern light mystery romance.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Of course! This is a classic not to be missed #3 is the weakest, and the Velvet Angel is not as great as the opening chapters. If you start, buy #1 or 2, if you are hooked, then buy the rest.
What's not to love????
Would you listen to Highland Velvet again? Why?
Yes! I love highland stories, and this is my first audible listen from this author, and narrator. I felt both were excellent! There was more story telling, and less explicit sex scenes, so I was able to listen aloud without having to hurray and put on headphones!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I actually did!
Any additional comments?
Definitely looking forward to listening to the rest in the series when available!
heroine is SO frustrating and childish
Did not like the heroine's character. She was childish and so frustrating that at times I was not sure how much of it I could take. She had nothing to recommend her except her supposed great looks and body. Is that all it takes for the hero to fall for her and take what she dishes out? I am a woman and I had enough by the end of the first hour. Not sure how to say it, but even though I did not dislike the book, but I did not like it either and it was solely due to the heroine's temper tantrums and childish manners. I am glad it is over.
A Great Historical Romance
Would you consider the audio edition of Highland Velvet to be better than the print version?
I do enjoy the audio version more than the print due to the great narration provided by Gabra Zackman. Her Scottish accent adds to the narration and the humor of this original novel which I loved when originally published in 1982. Historical Romances stand up better than current day novels.
