Hello, and welcome back to the Get Well, Live Well, and Thrive podcast. My name is Dana Lyons, and I'm your host here today. And today is Mother's Day, and I wanted to come on here to honor moms. So if you are a mom, happy Mother's Day. If you're a grandma or great-grandma or great-grandma and beyond, happy Mother's Day. A new mom, and maybe this is your first happy Mother's Day, but this also is not just for moms of children you have birthed. If you are a mentor, an aunt, a friend pouring into your friend's children, maybe you're an aunt by best friends, and maybe you're a mom spiritually to other people. I just want to say happy Mother's Day. I want to honor how you pour your life into someone else, because I think our life in Christ, it's about pouring into another, sharing and loving the person in front of you, those who are maybe just one little toe behind us in our walk in life. Or maybe it's into littles, who you just pour everything into them to love, support. It takes a village, in my opinion, it takes a village to live life. Maybe you're part of that village into another human being. I just want to honor you right now and just say thank you for all you do. Thank you for loving on other human beings. Thank you for giving your all and sacrificing, giving, supporting, and teaching. Thank you. To the teachers out there who maybe you are a mom, well, happy Mother's Day. But if you're not, but you pour into our kids, thank you. Happy Mother's Day. This doesn't have to just be about moms, but thank you for pouring into the next generation. Thank you for pouring into people. I'm so grateful. And on behalf of my own children to the teachers out there, if you are one that you have poured into my own child, thank you. Happy Mother's Day. Today, as I think about being a mom, I think it's one of the sweetest, greatest honors in my entire life. There's nothing ... I mean, I knew from a little girl on, I wanted to be a mom. It was other people thought about going on to college. They thought about careers. And I had little moments of like, ooh, I'd love to do that and whatever it was in the moment. I can't say I ever dreamed of ... I knew, I just never ... I never really dreamed about having a career per se. Like my youngest right now, she cannot wait to get into the business world. She wants to be a career woman. I can't say I ever had that. But the one thing I've always dreamed of and knew was that I wanted to be a mom. So as I thought about the honor I've had of being a mom to five and now grandmother to four, who just tickled my heart to death, I also thought of all the moms out there. And I just wanted to share some things that hit my heart that I wanted to remind you of that I think you already know. But from mom to mom, I want to encourage you with today. And guys, don't click me off here. You could take some of what I'm going to share today and apply this to your own life, because I think this is really for humans. If you pour into another, it's also about taking care of yourself. I want you to stick with me here, because maybe you can encourage the women in your life, but you also could take notes about your own life. So stick with me here.
So I thought about my own life. So let me just tell you, I just want to take a quick minute. I'll tell you, I'm a mom of five, what I think are amazing human beings. They're all so incredibly different. I talk about often, not only with my kids, but also with other people is how, there are those families where you could look at them and they're like, oh yeah, they're from the same breed. Right? They all look alike. They all kind of act alike. They're just similar. And you're like, yep, that's that family. I don't have one of those families. Mine are all, when you look at them, are so incredibly different. They've got little pieces that are similar. You're like, oh, like you guys are similar here, but man, you are so po

Life is filled with lots of twists, turns, and pivots along the way. We are always being prepared for something. Do you find yourself sensing change is coming? Are you in a season of transition? Do you feel like you are being asked to pivot? You are not alone. I am transitioning as we speak and some of the pivots I've had to take the last few months have been intense, challenging, and yet beautiful.
Transition is going to happen. When it does, it will require us to surrender and let go of some things so that we can fully step into the new season and receive all that God has for us.
Do you need some encouragement and reminders as you let go of one season and transition into a new one? I hope you will join me. Please share this with anyone you know who needs encouragement

Hello, and welcome back to the Get Well, Live Well, and Thrive podcasts. My name is Dana Lyons, and I'm your host, and today I want to talk about transitions and pivots. That's right, transitions and pivots. You know why? I am in one of them, and so I want to talk to others who are in them, and if you're not in one, just remember this episode. You'll come back to listen to it again, because you know why? At some point you're going to go through one, because in life we go through many transitions with many pivots. See, there's all different kinds of transitions in life, right? You go from transitioning from, well, your mother's womb to the world. We go from life to death. We go from like childhood to adulthood. We go from, you know, teenage to adult. We go from being single to married. We go from school to having to get a job. We sometimes have transitions in our health. We have transitions where we live. I mean, there's all kinds of transitions. Marrieds to divorced or married to widowhood. Single to married. I mean, there's all kinds of transitions. Even Jesus went through a transition, and he went through more than one. He went from heaven, and he came here to earth, right? What a transition. He went from, you know, earth back to heaven. He went from earth to the grave. He went from, you know, growing up under his parents and learning, to then he was transitioning. He was baptized and went to the wilderness. Transition, period of time, to another season or a moment in time, and then he came out of that wilderness and transitioned or came out and turned and came back out and went, you know, into his ministry. I mean, there's just transitions all over the place. Some are easy. We just transition from one thing to the next. We could transition from, you know, one day to the next by going to sleep and waking up. There's an easy transition. So transitions are everywhere. Sometimes we, and then in those transitions, there are pivots along the way. What do I mean by that? The word pivot means to turn, to make a sharp turn or to turn a different way. I mean, you know, how many of you have found yourself in a place where you're like, wow, how the heck did I end up here? Or maybe you went through a transition and you're like, wow, I didn't think I'd ever be doing this, or I didn't think that I'd end up here, or I didn't see this coming. But life is filled with these transitions and these pivots. And we could transition, you know, we're, we are all going to go through transitions and we're all going to have pivots. And the question is, will we be open and willing to transition well? You know, I've gone through some transitions and changes in my life where I've kicked and screamed and I started that next season really rocky. It could have went smoother. I've gone into some transitions where I was grieving and in a ton of pain, which meant the beginning of the next season didn't start out so positive. It was rough. So we all have these different transitions. You have your own. Even spiritually, we have a transition, ri

Life can be hard, sometimes. We can fall for the lie that no matter what we do we'll fail. I felt like a failure most of my life until God taught me differently and today I want to encourage anyone feeling deflated and discouraged. As we transform our lives we get to release those lies we've been believing and rediscover who God says we are, and then in Christ, we get to redefine our lives one step and day at a time. Changing my perspective on failing dramatically helped me transform. I believe it will help you as well.

Our words are powerful. They are for life or death. They build up or tear down. They either move towards intimacy and connection or division and destruction. What's coming out of your mouth? Too often we spit words out of our mouth without giving thought to what those words will do and where they will take us and our loved ones.
Listen to the end. I'll share some practical tips on how to change your marriage, your family, and your life.

What if everything we’ve talked about wasn’t something you have to do—but something you get to step into?
In this final episode of the Do You Want to Get Well? series, we bring everything together.
Not as a checklist. Not as pressure. But as an invitation. Because this journey was never about perfection. It’s about becoming.
In this episode, we revisit the core principles:
But more than that we talk about what it looks like to actually live it.
To stop sitting on the sidelines. To stop waiting. To stop telling yourself “maybe someday.”
And instead…
-stand up
-step forward
-and walk it out
Because here’s the truth:
You don’t have to stay stuck.
You don’t have to keep going in circles.
You don’t have to live half in and half out.
You get to change.
You get to grow.
You get to become who you were created to be.
And you don’t have to do it alone. God is with you—in every step, every decision, and every moment. If you’ve made it this far this is your reminder:
-you’re not done
-you haven’t failed
-and it’s not too late
This is your moment. Start today.

What do you do when life feels heavy… and nothing seems to be working?
When you’ve tried everything, and you’re still tired, overwhelmed, and unsure what to do next?
In this episode, we come back to something simple—but powerful: thankfulness.
Not when life is easy. Not when everything is going your way. But right in the middle of the struggle.
I share a real-life moment from one of the hardest seasons—when stress, uncertainty, and pressure were high, and how one simple shift changed everything.
We talk about:
Because sometimes…
you don’t have the answers
you don’t have the strength
you don’t even know what to pray
But you can always do this:
-give thanks
Even if it’s small
Even if it’s simple
Even if it’s all you have
Because when you do, something shifts.
Your perspective changes.
Your heart softens.
And your joy begins to come back.
If you’ve been:
this episode will meet you right where you are.
Start here: just give thanks

Have you ever felt disappointed, even when everything should have felt good?
In your marriage. Your life. Your faith.
Even your relationship with God?
In this episode, we talk about something most people don’t even realize is affecting them: expectations.
Because expectations don’t just shape what we hope for, they shape how we experience everything.
And when they go unmet?
They quietly turn into:
-disappointment
-frustration
-discouragement
In this episode, I share a personal story from my trip to Israel, when I expected a powerful, life-changing moment… and instead felt completely off.
Until God showed me something that changed everything:
-it wasn’t my situation
-it was my expectation
We talk about:
Because here’s the truth:
When you hold tightly to expectations, you limit what God can do.
But when you release them?
You open yourself up to something better than you imagined.
If you’ve been feeling:
this episode will help you see why—and what to do next.
Start here:
-let it go
-and pick up expectancy instead
If this episode encouraged you, please follow the podcast, leave a review, and share it with someone who could use a little hope today. Until next time, keep growing, keep trusting, and keep choosing to get well, live well, and thrive.
What do you do when you’ve lost your joy?
When life feels heavy, hard, or just not going the way you hoped?
In this episode, we talk about something simple—but powerful: thankfulness.
Not as a checklist.
Not as something you force.
But as a way of living that can completely shift your perspective.
I share a personal story from a season where everything felt hard—and how one simple shift changed everything: choosing to be thankful… right in the middle of it.
In this episode, we talk about:
I also share a powerful story from my daughter’s life—when there was nothing left to do except trust God and give thanks —and how He showed up in a way we never expected.
Because here’s the truth: You don’t have to be thankful for everything, but you can be thankful in anything.
And when you do something shifts.
If you’ve been:
this episode will help you take your first step back.
Start here: give thanks

What if the biggest thing holding you back isn’t your situation—but your thoughts?
In this episode, we talk about what it really means to guard your heart and renew your mind—and why this step is essential if you want your life to actually change.
Because here’s the truth:
You can’t live differently if you keep thinking the same way.
In this episode, we talk about:
I also share something that changed everything for me:
-learning to stop and ask, “Is this actually true?”
Because many of the things we believe about ourselves aren’t true at all.
They’re lies we’ve repeated long enough to believe.
And until you challenge them, they will continue to shape your life.
If you’ve been:
This episode will help you take your first step toward changing that.
You don’t have to fix everything today.
Just start here: think on what is true

You love God.
You want to grow.
