    Publisher's Summary:
Sebastien Ranes has drifted aimlessly since graduating from high school six months ago. Down on his luck, the 19-year-old is recovering from pneumonia, working a dead-end job, and living in a shabby makeshift bedroom in the basement of his mother and stepfathers home. Looking to escape his lousy situation, Sebastien robs a local grocery store and makes off with $4,800 - but not without the stores security cameras spotting him. Driven to a state of panic, and out of control, Sebastien is hit by a drunk driver. Pulled from the wreckage by a Marine, Sebastien is offered a ride home - and a way out of Alaska.
The Marine Corps shows Sebastien another world - of abuse and authority, of war and compassion, of lust and consequences - and by the time he returns home, hell be forever changed.

    A Gripping Memoir
This follow up to Greyhound (which was fantastic) was an unexpected account of Sebastian's life as he grew into a person that you wouldn't have expected. Even though he wasn't the same person as I had expected, it didn't matter. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and hope there is a third journal entry into Sebastian's life, and where he goes next.
Also, the narration was superb. Nick Podehl did a fantastic job in both books. If you're thinking about buying this book, do it, but download Greyhound first. You'll be glad you did.
A memoir edited into a series of stories
starting with Sebastian's gray late teens in Alaska (hating living in his mom's basement -smells like mold to me) moving through Marines boot camp and on to duty in DC and the Gulf. If it isn't based closely on his life, he's able to completely nail someone's (italics) life.
Particularly with this narrator, it's a bit like sitting next to someone very bright and articulate -a good storyteller- on a cross country Greyhound ride and hearing their story though the night, shaking hands at the end, saying good bye and then, as you wander back off to your life thinking to yourself, "Man, that guy went through some crazy s*** ."
I listened to this mainly over Christmas in Maine, running in the 10 snow. It fit.
    Exceptional!
I can't wait until Steffen Pieper's next book. His characterizations are so real. Great story.
    WOW, I loved it
WOW, what an amazing story l loved it just as much as Greyhound.
It's so refreshing to have some speak the truth. Both audiobooks a brilliant, Nick Podehl does an outstanding job, these two books are ranked in my top 10 audiobooks of the year.
    So disappointing
Would you try another book from Steffan Piper and/or Nick Podehl?
Maybe. Loved Greyhound, hated Fugue State.
Would you ever listen to anything by Steffan Piper again?
    Maybe Greyhound
What does Nick Podehl bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
    Not sure
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Fugue State?
The soldiers interactions were difficult to listen to.
    Any additional comments?
I enjoyed Greyhound so much and was looking forward to being entertained by Fugue State. What a let down. Full of unlikable characters and hateful situations. Couldn't finish it no matter how hard I tried.

    Language: English
    Release date: 08-21-12

    Publisher's Summary:
Meet the Keller family, five generations of firstborn women - an unbroken line of daughters - living together in the same house on a secluded olive grove in the Sacramento Valley of Northern California.
Anna, the family matriarch, is 112 and determined to become the oldest person in the world. An indomitable force, strong in mind and firm in body, she rules Hill House, the family home she shares with her daughter Bets, granddaughter Callie, great-granddaughter Deb, and great-great-granddaughter Erin. Though they lead ordinary lives, there is an element of the extraordinary to these women: The eldest two are defying longevity norms. Their unusual lifespans have caught the attention of a geneticist who believes they hold the key to breakthroughs that will revolutionize the aging process for everyone.
But Anna is not interested in unlocking secrets the Keller blood holds. She believes there are some truths that must stay hidden, including certain knowledge about her origins that she has carried for more than a century. Like Anna, each of the Keller women conceals her true self from the others. While they are bound by blood and the house they share, living together has not always been easy. And it is about to become more complicated now that Erin, the youngest, is back, alone and pregnant, after two years abroad with an opera company. Her return and the arrival of the geneticist who has come to study the Keller family ignites explosive emotions that these women have kept buried and uncovers revelations that will shake them all to their roots.
Told from varying viewpoints, Courtney Miller Santo's compelling and evocative debut novel captures the joys and sorrows of family - the love, secrets, disappointments, jealousies, and forgiveness that tie generations to one another.

    Great story & narration
This is a story of family, resentments, age and secrets. It shows how resentments affect generation after generation and in this family there are 5 generations of first born women with a 6th generation on the way, the oldest being Anna who is 112 and strives to become the oldest living human being, especially since she still has her mind and her body is still pretty spry too. Then there is Dr. Amrit who is on a mission to find out more about super-agers and thinks he has hit pay dirt with the The Keller women but with his research secrets are uncovered that the women would all rather stayed buried.
I really liked this story even though the ending was a bit rushed and not as satisfying as I had hoped. The Keller women are not always likable but you still cant help falling in love with them, flaws and all. Every mother and daughter has had their share of troubles some more than others, however they all still live in the same house which has become tense as these women move about their days without ever really connecting with each other. But with the youngest coming back home with problems of her own and Dr. Amrits research dislodging lost (or best forgotten) memories these women are all doing some soul searching.
Karen Whites narration was fantastic all her different voices and accents were spot on; you always knew exactly who was talking.

    Title: What the Nanny Saw
    Author: Fiona Neill

Length: 15 hrs and 40 mins
    Language: English

    Genres: Fiction, Contemporary
    Publisher's Summary:
It's the summer of 2008. For the past decade, Nick and Bryony Skinner and their four children have ridden high on the economic boom, but their luck is about to run out. Suddenly, the privileged family finds itself at the center of a financial scandal: Their Central London house is besieged by the press, Nick disappears, and Bryony and the children become virtual prisoners in their own home. And Ali, their trusted nanny, watches it all. As the babysitter, she brings a unique insider-outsider perspective to the family, seeing far more than even the family itself is capable of. But when a reporter with a personal connection to the story comes asking her for the inside scoop, will Ali remain loyal to the family who never saw her as anything other than the help? Or will she tell her side?
Written with Fiona Neill's delicious humor and addictive style, What the Nanny Saw is a keenly observed, often comical chronicle of the urban wealthy elite, of parents who are often too busy to notice what is going on under their own noses, of children left to their own devices, and of a young nanny thrown into a role she doesn't know how to play. It is a morality tale of our time, a tale of betrayal, the corrosive influence of too much money, and why good people sometimes do bad things.
    Critic Reviews:
"After an uberwealthy London family gets embroiled in a financial scandal following the 2008 crash, the trusted babysitter is the one holding all the secrets. Neill's engrossing and funny novel lives up to the titillating title." (Entertainment Weekly)

    Dramatic, irresistible narration of scandal
Would you listen to What the Nanny Saw again? Why?
Alison Larkin brings a range of accents and personalities to life in a unique way that makes you want to keep all the characters interacting forever so of course I would listen again.
Larkin is especially good at giving you a sense of the Nanny as she tries to figure out what is going on as the financial world collapses around her, and her own heart leads her astray.
Listening to this story you don't want anyone that Larkin has so beautifully brought to life to go away!
What was one of the most memorable moments of What the Nanny Saw?
Larkin by her performance leads the listener into the heart of the Nanny, and the moment when the Nanny reaches deep to help out her employer--despite the fact that she recently fired her--is such a memorable moment is this audio book.
    Which scene was your favorite?
Larkin is able to make interesting even the most complex financial dealings, but my favorite scene was when the Nanny kisses someone she shouldn't. Larkin brings that rare gift of making such a transformative and passionate scene ring true.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Larkin gave me a powerful feeling for the struggle of the Nanny to be true to her own ideals as she tried to figure out the best way forward in the dangerous world of money, sex, family and job.
    Any additional comments?
Only Larkin could have handled all the accents and personalities and given each their own inidividual and pwerful characters that gave them such a hold on me.
I was hooked from her first word she spoke as I listened, and never wanted to let go!
    Better than I was expecting!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I thought this was going to be a light, nanny-mummy beach read, but it really wasn't.

Devoted fans of Leila Meacham will devour this long, juicy audiobook. Tumbleweeds is the story of three young friends - the saint, the sinner, and the angel - growing up together in the sort of small Texas Panhandle town that lives and dies by its Friday night football games. A fateful event casts a long shadow over these three intertwined lives and leaves the listener desperate to see how it all plays out.

Twists, turns and a good long listen!
Reminded me of a southern version of "The Thornbirds". I really enjoyed listening to this book. I ordered it immediately after I finished listening to another great generational saga, "Roses", by the same author. I want more! Meacham does a fine job of character development and has a true talent for telling heartfelt stories. I am still thinking about the characters, long after I finished listening. The only negative; finding more audiobooks that will keep my attention, as these two have. Well done Lelia Meacham!
    Tumbleweeds
How could the performance have been better?
Having a male reader. Two boys were the main characters and the woman's voice made it hard to visualize
    Forest Gump
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Absolutely not. I really want to like this book. I'm only halfway through listening to it, but felt the need to warn other listeners. It sounds like Forest Gump is reading it. She makes all the characters sound the same. Why no one caught this when it was recording is beyond me. It's getting on my last nerve.
Would you recommend Tumbleweeds to your friends? Why or why not?
Maybe to read, but definitely not to listen to.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Angele Masters?
Rebecca Lowman, Julia Whelan, Emma Galvin, Neil Caplan, Grover Gardner, Jeff Woodman. Not sure if it's the narrator or whoever directed it, but someone dropped the ball on this production.
Did Tumbleweeds inspire you to do anything?
It inspired me to warn other listeners.
    Any additional comments?
I'll let you know if the narration gets better. I feel the need to finish listening since it's expensive.
One of my all time favorites!
Would you consider the audio edition of Tumbleweeds to be better than the print version?
I haven't read the print version of Tumbleweeds. I did read the print version of Ms. Meachams book, Roses. Great books are great whether heard or read.
What did you like best about this story?
The characters were well developed and sounded like people I knew in high school. Being from Texas and familiar with the weather and the Texas landscape made it seem more like it was about people and places I knew. I am always disappointed when a great book is finished. I feel like the characters are my friends and I miss them!
Have you listened to any of Angele Masterss other performances before? How does this one compare?
This is the first, but it was excellent. I hope to hear more of her performances in the future.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
    Most definately!
    Any additional comments?
I look forward to other books by Leila Meacham and hopefully narrated by Angele Masters
read if you want to be depressed
    What disappointed you about Tumbleweeds?
Unrequited love. Destruction by friends of friends. Small minded community.

A timeless story of enduring passion, The Bungalow chronicles Anne's determination to discover the truth about the twin losses--of life, and of love--that have haunted her for 70 years.

    I really enjoyed this story.
What made the experience of listening to The Bungalow the most enjoyable?
To be honest there were moments where I found the story a little sappy but in the end I really liked it a lot. I laughed, cried and had a great time listening to this story!
I felt like it was a bad made for TV Movie
I didn't get very far into this book at first I thought it was the narrartor but then realized it was the writing. I'm certainly no author but this just seemed like a script for a bad made for TV movie.
    Good story!
Very enjoyable story. This is another cold case mystery told in both present and past. Wonderfully woven together. Only downside was dead air between chapters, making it seemed the audio presentation had stopped.

"Hundreds of years in the future, after the Something that Happened, the world is an alarmingly different place. Life is lived according to The Rulebook and social hierarchy is determined by your perception of colour.Eddie Russett is an above average Red who dreams of moving up the ladder by marriage to Constance Oxblood. Until he is sent to the Outer Fringes where he meets Jane - a lowly Grey with an uncontrollable temper and a desire to see him killed.
For Eddie, it's love at first sight. But his infatuation will lead him to discover that all is not as it seems in a world where everything that looks black and white is really shades of grey . . .If George Orwell had tripped over a paint pot or Douglas Adams favoured colour swatches instead of towels . . . neither of them would have come up with anything as eccentrically brilliant as Shades of Grey."
    Members Reviews:
    You have to read it!
Would you consider the audio edition of Shades of Grey to be better than the print version?
The narrator is fantastic and adds a dimension to the story beyond the depths of my imagination - and that's deep!
What did you like best about this story?
The plot is so very clever. Simple on the surface, but with complex layers like the colour spectrum he uses as the premise of his story. Jasper has done a great job - again... and, if possible, I think better than his Thursday Next novels.
What about Gareth Armstrongs performance did you like?
His voice and narration is charming, dynamic and extremely clever particularly given the demands of the story line and the number of characters. Wonderful. I'd listen to him talk about weeding the garden.
Who was the most memorable character of Shades of Grey and why?
Eddie Russet has to be the most memorable, both for his character development by Jasper through the story and his character portrayal by Gareth. Hard to pick though because Jane is very close.
    Any additional comments?
I think if people don't read this book they have missed a brilliant story by an clever author at the top of his game. I'm giving it to friends as a gifts just to spread the love. Thanks Jasper. Marvellous.
    My fav on Audible
    So lovely pronunciation.
I would listen to this again and again.
I hate the world because it made famous 50 shades of grey instead of Shades of grey. So so horrible world.
As Jasper himself would have read it!
Would you consider the audio edition of Shades of Grey to be better than the print version?
I like them both, but the audio version really did bring the book to life. I especially enjoyed all the different voices by Gareth Armstrong.
What other book might you compare Shades of Grey to and why?
The Eyre Affair and The Big Over Easy by the same author.

Have you listened to any of Christina Moores other performances before? How does this one compare?
Christina Moore is one of my favorite narrators! She keeps the voices distinct throughout the story and keeps the interest high!
    Any additional comments?
Colleen Coble is ranked in my library as one of my top five authors! Great writer! Thank you for writing this series!
    Another Winner
I've come to love Colleen Coble. She captures and keeps my attention with interesting characters, storylines and plot twists. She manages to keep me guessing while threading romance and adventure throughout, without getting too 'heavy', always giving you a happy ending.
Good, but not the best in the series.
Would you listen to Lightkeeper's Ball again? Why?
No, sick and tired of hearing reader swallow... disgusting.
What didnt you like about Christina Moores performance?
The other two books in this series were also narrated by Ms. Moore and she did a good job, but with this one she swallowed repeatedly and it was very disgusting. I actually sped it up to hurry up and finish it and hopefully disguise/hide the swallowing sounds, but that didn't help. Why don't they take a break and get a drink or something?! Yuck!! This ruins me on wanting to listen to any more of Colleen Coble's books or anything narrated by her.
    Any additional comments?
Not the best story by Ms. Coble, seemed to have been written in a hurry, lots of stuff thrown together, not as cohesive and flowing as the others. Still a good story overall.
    Enjoyable Read!
I actually listened to this book but still enjoyed it as much as if I had read it myself. Good, clean, romance, mystery!! Love Colleen Coble! Thanks for writing these kinds of books!

    Great, thoug
I really enjoyed the book, though there are a few weird words, but all in all - a Great Book
A journal of an intimate journey
I really enjoyed it, though not as much as The Alchemist. The author is obviously a very advanced soul and has insights and experience beyond the usual life. It revealed to me that no matter how 'advanced' we believe we are, we are meant to experience being 'human' while on this planet (warts and all) and not aspire to live here as God like. We should leave that to the next plane and relish all the emotions of humanity. It also reveals the possibility of links to other spiritual planes for those enlightened enough and with the desire connect.
    A spiritual journey
I have read most of Paulo Coelho's books and I liked this very personal story of a journey on the transibirian railway. Although the story is quite difficult to believe and is certainly not as good as others, the narration was very enjoyable. I have enjoyed listening to it as I do not feel I would have had the patience reading it.
    mmmmhhhh
Love this author and this book, still trying to absorb everything. Still pondering about life, love and past lifes
Life is the train not the station.
Another amazing book from an amazing man. It has been a long long time that I have enjoyed and be captivated and transformed by a book. The narrator made this book alive, his tone of voice while been the different characters was extraordinary. Thank you, thank you to have share such beautiful story with us.

Read this on the back of the colour of law and was equally gripped. A really enjoyable
listen tied up any loose ends from the previous book. Like his other book a little slow to get going but once it does it romps away.
    Good listen
Really enjoyed listening to this book. Narration really engaging. The narrator was very good and made listening easy
    Very enjoyable
What did you like most about Accused?
Jeff Hardings narration I really like. I first heard him on a Lee Child book.
I have read the Scott Fenny series in reverse!! My fault
    But very good story.
Which scene did you most enjoy?
The court scene where Scott was constantly challenging the Judges decisions pre-trial
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
    Almost!
Another good listen from Mark Gimenez
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would certainly recommend this book but I would say, read 'The Colour of Law' first as this is a sequel to that book.
What did you like best about this story?
Like the first book the storey keeps going at a good pace, it holds your interest. Although it revolves heavily around the law, it doesn't delve deaply into it, it's not complicated, which in my opinion makes it an easy listen. Great for walking the dogs!
What about Jeff Hardings performance did you like?
I like Jeff Harding, I have listened to a few books he's narrated and I think he's excellent. I will say however that Pete Bradbury read the first book and in my opinion, his voice seemed to suit the characters better. It annoyed me a little in this book whent the pronunciation of Pajamae's name was changed from Paschamae to Pajamy.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I wouldn't say it moved me but the very end of the book on the boat, I wasn't expecting the narrative, perhaps I should have been.
    Any additional comments?
I hope there are more in this series, I enjoyed the characters and would like to see how they develop.
