Brilliant novel.
Would you listen to Sisterland again? Why?
Yes. I already have! It's so good.I love all Curtis Sittenfeld novels. Just wish there were more on Audible for us in the UK.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Daisy... she's so complex.
Which scene was your favorite?
I can't tell you without spoiling it for you!
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The end scene with Gabriel.
Any additional comments?
Just get it, you won't be disappointed.
Good story
Where does Sisterland rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
Top 10
What other book might you compare Sisterland to, and why?
To Sittenfeld's previous books "American Wife" and "Prep" which I loved. This isn't quite as brilliant as the other two, but I really enjoyed it nevertheless. The ending felt a little contrived to me, but that's just a small niggle.
What about Laurence Bouvards performance did you like?
I thought it was spot on.
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It's a quiet story, but very absorbing. The portrayal of the relationship between the two sisters is utterly convincing. There were a few moments which made me laugh out loud.
Great Read
Very enjoyable read with interesting twists on family secrets, premonitions, and family bonds. I couldn't wait to find out what happened next.
Brilliant, entertaining, enchanting
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Didn't really know where this book would go, but from the start it sets out it's stall pretty well in the borderline magical arena, but it retains (very well) the core of the title, being about relationships and the ups and downs of family relationships. I was truly enchanted
What did you like best about this story?
The characters are well written and I really enjoyed the different perspectives, all believable (mostly) and easy to spend time with. A lot of the character interactions resonated strongly
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Would have been happy to listen all the way through, never lost interest
Awful.
What disappointed you about Sisterland?
This is an extremely long shallow and boring story. The main character is total characterless pathetic woman . Not interesting at all.
I did struggle to read the book to its end, waiting for it to get better, but no such luck! Just total disappointment. The only good thing about it was the narrating of Laurence Bouvard.
Would you ever listen to anything by Curtis Sittenfeld again?
No
What about Laurence Bouvards performance did you like?
Very good performance. Very convincing
