Deep in the City something had been woken, so old that people had been walking past it for centuries without giving it a second look....
When George breaks the dragon's head outside the Natural History Museum he awakes an ancient power. This prehistoric beast, sentry-still for centuries, hunts him down with a terrifying wrath. And this is just the beginning....
The taints and spits - statues with opposing natures - are warring forces; wreaking deadly havoc on the city landscape. The World War One gunner offers protection of sorts; and the wisdom of the Sphinx is legendary. But George and his companion Edie are trapped in a world of danger. And worse - they are quite alone. The rest of London is oblivious to their plight.
This epic adventure exposes forces long-layered in the fabric of London. After entering its richly original and breathtaking world, the city streets and skyline will never again seem the same!

This is a great series, always keeping you on the edge of your seat. I could hardly put it down. I read all three of them back to back. You can't just read the first one. I especially enjoyed learning about all the statues that exist in London.

A little slow at the start as it builds the story line. By the time you get to the end of this book you are are looking forward to continuing the story with the next book in the trilogy.
Brilliant
I bought this book because I happened to see it on a store shelf and it happened to have a dragon on the cover and my grandson happens to love dragon books. The premise intrigued me, so I read the book before I gave it to him. And I loved it--for its tension on every page, for its fleshed out, clearly defined characters who are sinister, loveable and surprising, for its use of words to make literary magic, for a tale well told. Bravo.

The pace is great. The venue is fabulous. The characters jump out of the pages. It would make a great movie. Next visit to London, I'm going the look more closely at some of the statues I didn't notice last time.
Brilliant
Riveting, exciting, imaginative. A must-read series for any lover of fantasy. You won't be able to put these books down.
