Left me wanting more...can't wait for the next book to come out :D

I have been waiting to read this book since I first heard about it. The day I finally sat down with it, I couldn't put it down. It is a wonderful story and I look forward to reading the books that follow it. You will love it whether you are an adult or a child. Disney did a wonderful job! I wouldn't be surprised to see this series on the big screen one day! :)(and to think the author is only 14)

Title: Mister Monday

Subtitle: The Keys to the Kingdom, Book 1

Author: Garth Nix

Narrator: Allan Corduner

Format: Unabridged

Length: 8 hrs and 9 mins

Language: English

Release date: 07-21-10

Publisher: Bolinda Publishing Pty Ltd

Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 11 votes

Genres: Kids, Ages 8-10

Publisher's Summary:

Arthur Penhaligon is not supposed to be a hero. He is, in fact, supposed to die an early death. But then he is saved by a key shaped like the minute hand of a clock. Arthur is safe but his world is not.

Along with the key comes a plague brought by bizarre creatures from another realm. A stranger named Mister Monday, his avenging messengers with blood-stained wings, and an army of dog-faced Fetchers will stop at nothing to get the key back even if it means destroying Arthur and everything around him. Desperate, Arthur ventures into a mysterious house a house that only he can see. It is in this house that Arthur must unravel the secrets of the key and discover his true fate.

Critic Reviews:

"In a fantastic realm discovered by an otherwise unadventurous boy, the clock and calendar take on new identities. The young hero encounters an astonishing definition of reality - including ethereal moving staircases, disposable wings, and words that literally come to life - as he struggles to return to the mortal world. Reader Allan Corduner does justice to the impressively wide range of implausible characters yet somehow leaves room for the listener's imagination. His characterizations are subtly crafted, and he doesn't prematurely reveal which strange creatures are friend or foe. The boy's simultaneous terror and bravery are plausible. Corduner's vocal flexibility is the key to this enjoyable audiobook." (AudioFile)

Content is good - narration.....

I bought this for my son - this is a kids book if you are unsure. The book was written in 1961 so I expect the style to be old by today's standard and but it seems to hold up fine. The male narrator lacks natural reading talent and sounds to be forcing it. The Female is just awful - I mean really awful. Fortunately she is the one asking the questions so you don't have to listen to her.

My son will like this because he is consuming everything he can get his hands on regarding meteorites and hates to read so this will work well for him.
