Detective J. T. Ellington returns in this slick and fast-paced follow up to the critically acclaimed Heartman.
'It's quite simple Mr Ellington. When you find Fowler, just ask where we can find the truth.'
With these words, private detective J.T. Ellington embarks on a seemingly simple case of tracking down a local GP with a dubious reputation and retrieving a set of stolen documents from him.
For Ellington, however, things are rarely straightforward. Dr Fowler is hiding a terrible secret, and when he is gunned down outside a Bristol pub, his dying words send J. T. in pursuit of a truth more disturbing and deadly than he could possibly have imagined.

The second in the series and a gripping and emotional read.
I really enjoyed Heartman which is the first book in the series, so very much looked forward to reading All Through The Night. I would recommend reading the books in order to get full enjoyment of the series.
JT Ellington is quite a deep character. He has had a lot of heart ache in his life. He has had to leave his country of birth for his own safety as well as sanity and is trying to make a living as a private investigator in Bristol, England.
When JT takes on a new case, I donât think he could have ever envisioned how much it would affect him. Through his investigations he ends up with a young girl called Truth in his care. You wouldnât think looking out for a little girl would cause a whole heap of trouble, but it certainly does.
The relationship between JT and Truth is one I donât think I could ever forget. It was so endearing and totally twanged my heartstrings. Truth is a young girl with no real family, she puts all her trust in JT and I think at times JT finds this hard to deal with. For both their own safety, they end up on the run and the reader is taken on a dark and dangerous journey with them.
All Through The Night is a crime thriller that gently draws you in then grabs you by the throat so that by the end my emotions were all over the place. Excellent read and canât wait for the next one.
Many thanks to the author and Black and White Publishing for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
A crime thriller in the tradition of John Buchan's 39 Steps
The protagonist JT Ellington takes off into the 1960's West Country countryside, with a little girl in his charge, pursued by violent men who want to do them harm. He is a black Private Detective, a migrant from the Caribbean, working the streets of Bristol with little knowledge of the terrain to which they escape but well aware of the endemic racism in the environment where he works.
The author has a sound knowledge of the geography of the city and countryside of the time which his characters inhabit. Being a Bristolian myself and brought up in the area of that time I am aware of the places in the picture he paints. The characters and plot are compelling to follow. This is a story which can be described as West Country Noir and is certainly well worth a read.
