Publisher's Summary:
On July 21st of 1994, Jack Smith, a former CIA operative, dies at the Ocean Side Health Facility, CA. Only a few weeks later, thousands of miles away in Russia, David Tallman, the leader of the same CIA group, dies at the hands of Dr. Tatiana Borisova, director of the former KGB Special Projects. Jack's and Tallman's deaths culminate a decades-long struggle for supremacy in mind control applied to espionage.
Thirty years earlier, CIA agent David Tallman is assigned to form a special projects group. The USSR is feverishly involved in experimentation in mind control; the CIA must respond.
The mind-power group is settled in a small, rural steel-mill town of Crossroads in the foothills of the Allegheny in Pennsylvania. While Tallman is preparing his group for testing, they are facing two redoubtable enemies, Sokolov, once the Soviet spy-master in Eastern Europe, now the new chief of the KGB Special Projects, and a psychiatrist, Dr. Tatiana Borisova, his literally bewitching, mind-control specialist.
Sokolov is relentlessly searching for a replacement of his recently defected expert and vowing to eliminate the traitor. Meanwhile, an elderly KGB sleeper in Paris, France, announces a discovery - a young Frenchman, a genuine psychic prodigy.
The KGB Projects technical lead, Borisova, has different plans. She is determined to take over Sokolov's position. In her quest for power, she uses a KGB colonel, Volkov, as her murder weapon. She programs the colonel to eliminate Sokolov and the fight for power is over.
While the two opposing teams are trying to outmaneuver each other, political life in the USSR changes. The new Democratic forces, led by Gorbachev and Yeltsin, are introducing unexpected changes in the country's rusty system.

Exciting and Riveting Paranormal Thriller
Dangerous Trade
by
Ned Stevens
Espionage and double agents run rampant during and following the Cold War; everyone is suspect, no one can be trusted as the Red East and the free West share information with the highest bidder â no honor among the spies or those who control them. It's an era of new tortures using mind power experiments, and incorporating untrustworthy and murderous members of the underworld.
American CIA agent David Tallman is haunted by flashbacks of hideous torture back in 1962, by the KGB, a spy organization that strikes like a cobra then slithers back into hiding. Not much has changed by 1985, but now Tallman's incredible talents are needed for something else . . . A killer spy.
As relations remain tense between the US and Russia, author Ned Stevens draws his readers into a treacherous secretive world of lies, murder and betrayal, with subtle plots layered upon layers, much like those of the renowned authors, Robert Ludlum and Clive Cussler. This plot driven spy international thriller peppered with paranormal events and experiments will appeal to both readers who enjoy the genre as well as readers new to it. Ned Stevens has a knack for making his characters memorable and believable in his action-packed scenarios by showing rather than telling his story; making it a pleasure to read.
