Smith is widely considered America's leading practitioner of the new and burgeoning field of "sensory history." This encore presentation is from a series of “Conversations on the Civil War, 1863,” which took place at the University of South Carolina, Columbia, in the spring of 2013, and was sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences.
