English Version:
And here comes the second episode of my podcast and the first interview.
I know my guest, Ancuța, from the rehabilitation clinic: She is 30 years old and works as an programmer in Bucharest, Romania. She is one of the severely injured victims of the nightclub fire in Bucharest in 2015 and was treated in Germany in the aftermath.
She speaks perfectly English and pretty good German (even though she doesn´t think so of the latter). But as we are talking about pretty personal stuff, we talk in English.
This is part 1 of 2.
After the original interview I will ad a German summary for those of my listeners who are not so comfortable with English.
For my English-speaking audience: I will every now and again have my interviews in English but the majority of the episodes will be in German.
I am always happy about feedback, ideas or people (from all over the world) that would like to join me as a guest – whether this is as an expert, a burn survivor, a person with other chronic diseases, relatives or other people with topics of interest to this podcast.

However it suits you best.
If you can´t understand German pretty well, so here comes a really short introduction of me, the person behind this podcast:
My name is Lena, I am 20 years old and currently studying Psychology. Nearly two years ago, in April 2019, I was hit by a lightning without there being a thunderstorm.
I have been hanging up the laundry – the sky was clear, the sun was shining.
I was burning instantly. Only a great first aid, the best of possible treatment in Bolivia, my parents flying to Bolivia, a school mate translating for my parents and organizing a lot of what helped me survive, the Red Cross flying me out in an ambulance plane just in time, me getting a bed on an Intensive care Unit for Burn victims in Germany, a laboratory assistant identifying just in time what multirestistant bacteria had by then entered by entire body including my blood (while my parents already had to say goodbye for well) and my strong will to live made me survive this whole thing and brought me to the point where I am today.
Yet, I am still struggling every day with the consequences of the accident:
Huge areas of my skin surface are very deeply burned, I am suffering from neurological damage in the cerebellum making coordination, balance and walking very difficult for me, I need hearing aids and have – obviously – psychological damages.
My last years were an odyssey through hospitals, ICU, rehabilitation clinic, surgeries and therapies.
With this podcast I want to give hope to people in a similar situation and also sensitize society for people who are being classified as “abnormal”. I am campaigning for real inclusion.
I am glad that you found my podcast. May it give inspiration to you!
