  • Ghana in Focus: Ghana is in recession!

    Send us Fan Mail

The week's episode of Ghana in Focus highlights the REALITY that Ghana is in RECESSION!!

Many commentators in Ghana will not or cannot say that Ghana is in recession, but the harsh TRUTH is that Ghana is in a DEEP RECESSION!!

We explain the reasons why Ghana is in recession looking at some key indices including inflation where we challenge the assertion that inflation in Ghana is 40.4%.

We look at some commodities in Ghana to prove our point that inflation in Ghana is not the 40.4% as espoused by the Ghana Statistical Service and that the REAL inflation rate in Ghana is at least 100%.

We finish by giving a couple of tips that if implemented would reverse overnight the high inflation rate in Ghana and ease drastically the adverse effects of the RECESSION that is crippling Ghana.

  • Afrika in Focus Special: Why Afrikan people globally must BOYCOTT The Woman King and Black Panther , the Sequel

    Send us Fan Mail

This week's episode of Afrika in Focus is a take from an Afrikan centred perspective on why Afrikan people MUST boycott the Hollywood films the Woman King and Black Panther, The Sequel.

We discuss the history of Hollywood which is run by European Jews and their gentile European cousins.   Hollywood has NEVER portrayed Afrikan (Black) people in a positive light and the negative perception that other groups of people have of Afrikan (Black) people can be attributed in part to the negative images of Afrikan (Black) people as portrayed by Hollywood and also the wicked music industry which is also run by European Gentile whites and their European Jewish cousins.

We then analyse the two films concerned: The so-called Woman King and how the title alone is deceptive and an insult to the Afrikan personality, culture and tradition.

The title is also an insult because it is one trying to confuse the gender roles of Afrikan people and two implying that the Afrikan (Black) woman is overly masculine which is quite silly.

I say this because if one studies Afrikan history, Afrika has always had strong, courageous and intelligent women who understood their role as Afrikan women within the context of the family, community, nation state and race.

We also analyse Black Panther, The Sequel which also has subliminal messages that disrespect the Afrikan culture, tradition and civilisation.

Wakanda is FICTIONAL and so we advise if you want to know about what we as Afrikan people have achieved in the past and are more than capable of replicating this in the future if we UNITE, study Afrikan history.

We end by stating that Hollywood will NEVER tell the TRUE history of Afrikan (Black) people and will seek at any opportunity to denigrate Afikan people - Just listen to what Kanye/Ye has said about the above people.

Only we Afrikan (Black) people CAN tell our STORY! A story that has been deliberately hidden from the world in plain sight under the cloak of anti Afrikan racism and bigotry!

  • Afrika in Focus Special: Can an Afrikan team win the football world cup?

    Send us Fan Mail

This week's edition of Afrika in Focus is a special looking at the forthcoming Football World Cup being held in Qatar, asking the question can an Afrikan team win the football world Cup

The Greatest Footballer Of All Time (GOAT). The Afrikan Brazilian Pele once said that an Afrikan nation would win the World Cup by the year 2000.

That has not materialised as yet and frankly, it NEVER will.  As far as I am concerned NO Afrikan team will EVER win a World Cup because of the lack of discipline, infighting (that we saw in the Ghana team in Brazil in 2014) and essentially that the World Cup is rigged to suit European and South American teams.

Only Cameroun (1990), Senegal (2002) and Ghana (2010) have made the quarter final of the World Cup -- Ghana famously missing out on a semi-final berth for an Afrikan team as a result of the infamous handball of Uruguay's Luis Suarez

We assess the chances of the five Afrikan teams Senegal, Ghana, Cameroun, Tunisia and Morrocco.

We end by making a prediction that Senegal, current Afrikan champions, will be the Afrikan team that goes the furthest.

  • Ghana in Focus Special: Why the NPP Government MUST resign NOW!!

    Send us Fan Mail

This week's episode of Ghana in Focus is a special as it draws the conclusion that the current NPP Government of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo MUST resign NOW!!

At this juncture I must stress that I am not affiliated to any political party in Ghana as they are ALL a waste of space.  My intention is as a deeply concerned citizen of Ghana who wants to see Ghana reach its FULL potential and for the citizenry to live their best lives.

My conclusion is drawn from a critical analysis of 6 key socio-economic features including the devaluation of the local currency the Ghana cedi and the enormous debt/GDP ratio which stands at an alarmingly dangerous level of 90%.

The NPP government were voted into power in 2016 on the assumption that they are better managers of the economy than the NDC.  Credit where credit is due that between 2017-2019 the NPP government grew the economy making Ghana one of the world's fastest growing economies.   However since the COVID-19 plandemic the economy has virtually crashed leading to massive inflation, one of the highest on the continent, high food prices making it difficult for the ordinary Ghanaian to afford three meals a day to a currency that is dangerously spiralling out of control.

Regarding the currency on Monday, 17 October, it was marked the world’s worst performing currency, according to the Bloomberg currency tracker that watches 148 currencies.

The government has blamed everything under the sun from the Russia/West -Ukraine war to the aftermath of the COVID plandemic to explain its sheer incompetence and ineptitude.

This suggestion however, is  futile, lazy and baseless as the Russia/ West war and in particular  COVID has affected many other Afrikan countries but these countries especially in the West Africa sub-region, have low inflation and interest rates together with a strong currency.

This assertion is backed up by the head of the IMF delegation that is visiting Ghana relating to the country's fiscal bailout, Abebe Selassie who states that Ghana's economic challenges are more to do with internal factors rather than external ones.

Given the above, this makes a compelling case for the current government of Ghana to resign, and new elections take place in order to usher in a government that can turn around Ghana's economic fortunes.

October is Afrikan (Black) History Month in the UK but a little-known fact is that a Ghanaian by the name of Akyaaba Addai Sebo was behind its conception.

We analyse the huge role played by Addai Sebo into the formation of Afrikan History Month and the idea and purpose behind having Afrikan (Black) History Month.

We end by highlighting the importance of Afrikan History and why Afrikan history must be taught in schools and colleges because in essence World History is Afrikan History and Afrikan History is World History!!

  • Ghana in Focus special: Why small-scale mining (Galamsey) is a threat to Ghana's existence

    Send us Fan Mail

This week's episode takes a critical look at one of the most pressing and disturbing issues affecting Ghana, namely illegal small-scale mining or Galamsey as it is known.

We start by saying what this is and how in recent years has become more sinister and the adverse effects this is having on Ghana.

I point out that it is the insatiable greed of Ghanaians that has created the problems with illegal small-scale mining we see in the country.

We also investigate the role of non-Ghanaians in this venture, particularly the Chinese whose involvement in small scale illegal mining has taken a very sinister twist including a nefarious agenda of destroying Ghana's cocoa industry whilst at the time developing their own cocoa industry.

We advise that sub-Kings, senior police, senior army officials and politicians are ALL involved in this illegal small-scale mining for their own selfish gain.

We delve into some of the dire consequences that is already having a devastating impact on the country.

We conclude by stating the government of Ghana needs to do much much more in order to tackle this menace or Ghana risks being destroyed as an entity.

  • Afrika in Focus Special: Afrika and the British Monarchy - Why we should not mourn the death of Queen Elizabeth II

    Send us Fan Mail

This edition of Afrika in Focus is a special looking at Afrika and the British Monarchy in the light of the recent death of Queen Elizabeth II.

We examine the dark history of the British Monarchy, its association with the brutal enslavement of Afrikan people through to the mass colonization of indigenous people's lands, culture, history and tradition ALL in the name of empire and the British monarchy.

We also make the truthful and accurate point that the vast wealth that the British royal family in particular and other European so called royal families enjoy today was made possible by the huge role these royal families played in the enslavement of Afrikan people.

In the case of the British Royal family, Queen Elizabeth I funded a man called John Hawkins in 1555 to go to Afrika to capture Afrikan people --- so much so was John Hawkin's 'trip' to Afrika that he made a huge fortune for Queen Elizabeth I that she made Hawkins a knight of the British realm, so his name became Sir John Hawkins.

Then in 1660 the royal family and City of London merchants founded the Royal Africa Company (RAC) to trade along the West coast of Afrika It was led by the Duke of York, who was the brother of King Charles II and in 1685, York took the throne as James II.

In the 1680s the company was transporting about 50,000 enslaved people a year to markets primarily in the Caribbean across the Atlantic. Many were branded with the letters "DoY", for its Governor, the Duke of York who succeeded his brother on the throne in 1685, becoming King James II. Other slaves were branded with the company's initials, RAC, on their chests.  Historian William Pettigrew has stated that this company "shipped more enslaved African women, men and children to the Americas than any other single institution during the entire period of the transatlantic slave trade", and that investors in the company were fully aware of its activities and intended to profit from this exploitation

When the enslavement of Afrikan people ended in the British colonies, an Act of Parliament sanctioned by the Crown in 1839, it also paved the way for more than 40,000 White British slave owners including the royal family were paid compensation for 'loss of earnings' as they saw Afrikan people as cargo and not as humans, the tune in today's value of nearly 20 billion pounds sterling. The University College London has a database on all these families that received 'compensation' - In actual fact this payment to slave owners formally ended in 2015!!

Just for the record Afrika was home to Royal families of prestige, long before European royal families such as the Kings and Queens od Ancient Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia as well as Kings and Queens of the Shona, Ndebele, Zulu, Angola, Mau Mau, Igbo, Yoruba, Asante, Ga, Wolof, Hausa etc etc  - in fact the World's richest man EVER was King Mansa Musa of the great Mali Empire

We end on what the future holds for the so-called Commonwealth of Nations and believe that the so-called Commonwealth that was built on the blood, sweat and tears of Afrikan people, will begin to unravel as nations especially in the so-called Caribbean leave this phoney club that has no benefits for Black people.

In short, we as Afrikan / Black people should not mourn the death of a person whose family grew rich by mass exploitation, rape and blood of Afrikan / Black people.

  • Ghana in Focus Special: Celebrating an Afrikan icon Dr Kwame Nkrumah

    Send us Fan Mail

Wednesday the 21st September is the Earth Day of the man BBC Afrika listeners voted the Afrikan of the Millennium in the year 2000, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana's first president.

In this special edition of Ghana in Focus we replay the podcasts aired last year relating to the life and legacy of the great man.

Born in 1909 in the little town of Nkroful in Western Ghana, Nkrumah originally wanted to be a Roman Catholic priest and was training to do so.  However, in a chance meeting with Pan Afrikanist Nnamdi Azikwe, who himself later became the first president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,  Azikwe introduced the young Nkrumah to the tenets of Pan Affrikanism that changed Nkrumah's life for ever!!

Enthused by what he heard Kwame Nkrumah was eager to know more about Pan Afrikanism.  It's just so that Nkrumah won a scholarship to go to the United States to continue his education.  According to historian John Henrik Clarke in his article on Nkrumah's American sojourn, "the influence of the ten years that he spent in the United States would have a lingering effect on the rest of his life'.

It is in the US where Nkrumah becomes familiar with the works of pantheons of Pan Afrikanism including Clarke himself, JA Rodgers, W E B DuBois, George Padmore and more notably Marcus Garvey.

On the latter, Kwame Nkrumah said 'of all the books that I have read no other book gingered me up more than the Philosophies and Opinions of Marcus Garvey'.

After his sojourn in the United States, Kwame Nkrumah goes onto London, UK in May 1945 and enrolled at the London School of Economics as a PhD candidate in anthropology.

Nkrumah spent his time on political organizing. He and Padmore were among the principal organizers, and co-treasurers, of the Fifth Pan afrikanism Congress in Manchester (15–19 October 1945).

The Congress elaborated a strategy for supplanting colonialism with African socialism They agreed to pursue a federal United States of Africa, with interlocking regional organizations, governing through separate states of limited sovereignty.

Among those who attended the congress was the venerable W E B Du Bois along with some who later took leading roles in leading their nations to independence, including Kamazu Banda of Nyasaland (which became Malawi) Jomo Kenyata of Kenya and Obafemi Awolowo of Nigeria.

It was while this conference was taking place in London that the first political party in Ghana, The UGCC, The United Gold Coast Convention was on the move to gain political independence for the Gold Coast.

The UGCC was a party formed by middle class lawyers who sought to champion the cause of independence.  However, the UGCC lacked punch and struggled to reach the masses of the Gold Coast.  The founding members heard of Nkrumah's mobilising and organizational skills and invited him back to Ghana to become the Secretary General of the UGCC.
