We know there’s a lot going on in the world right now, but we’re going to do our best to keep things as normal here on the ol’ podcast to help everyone escape for just a few minutes. This week on the show, talking about the reveal of Rob Simonsen composing the Ghostbusters: Afterlife score, merch news including perhaps the end of the line for Ghostbusters Playmobil tie-ins, and in the second half of the show, we’re talking IDW Comics’ Ghostbusters Year One Issue #2!
This week on the show, Troy and Chris are building the first two subscription box mailings for Eaglemoss’ Hero Collector Ecto-1. What are some of their roadblocks? What are some of the discussion points as they’re building? Stay tuned and build with us!
This week in the show, a complete and in-depth look at all the announcements from Toy Fair 2020: Real Ghostbusters, Plasma Series Figures, Slime, and more! First up, lots and lots of details on the Hasbro presentation, which stole the show on Saturday with 6” figures for collectors, 3 and 3/4” figures for kids, and Plasma Series replica props from Ghostbusters Afterlife for all of us who want to take the movie home with us. Plus Playmobil has play boxes, a company is calling dibs on video pinball machines, and Funko didn’t want to reveal much to avoid spoiling the new movie. Guard your credit cards (or increase their limit, whatever suits you) because here we go!
This week on the show, New York International Toy Fair had lots of surprises and we’ve got an excerpt from Hasbro’s presentation, and in the second half of the show: the imperfections of Ghostbusters! First up, a few news items including some fine art prints for sale and a little audio from Hasbro’s presentation which revealed the return of the Kenner Real Ghostbusters and Plasma Series figures and prop replicas like Spengler’s Neutrona Wand and more (next week, we’ll have the full rundown of it all). Plus Ivan and Jason Reitman appeared to talk a little about Ghostbusters Afterlife! Then in the second half of the show, we all look at Ghostbusters as a perfect film, but what are some of those blemishes or imperfections that we either choose to overlook or see every time we view? Rubber boulders, foam packs, and much more to be discussed. Stay tuned!
It may not be for the movie franchise for which this podcast focuses but Rick Moranis is making a comeback, and this week we’re talking all about it. First up, Troy and Chris explore Moranis’ decision to return to acting for another Honey I Shrunk the Kids installment (and why didn’t he decide to give Ghostbusters Afterlife a go?). Then in the rest of the show, Bill Murray hits a ProAm, Carrie Coon and McKenna Grace get some press and are you ready for Toy Fair this week? We know we sure are!
This week on the show, relics of the past return (in more ways than one) and we ask you to ask us anything! First up in the news, a few Ghostbusters archival elements have resurfaced including the long-sought after Hughes/Thrall alternate theme song and the 800 outgoing message from 1984. The boys also talk about Bill Murray’s return to Woodstock, IL (standing in for Punxsutawney, PA) for another few cycles through the Groundhog Day timeline for a Jeep Super Bowl commercial. And how it all came about was a funny Murray Story of its own. In the second half of the show, we answer your Ask Us Anything questions: what are our favorite cocktails, what music do we want to hear on the Ghostbusters Afterlife soundtrack, and more!
This week on the show: Bill, Dan, Ernie, Annie and Sigourney are back and it’s official! Anthony Breznican of Vanity Fair had the exclusive scoop last week that the “OGBs” are returning for Jason Reitman’s Ghostbusters Afterlife, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts, and Sigourney Weaver are all in! And the article included a great story about how Bill made the journalist wear a proton pack for an extended period of time. You better believe Troy and Chris are going to pour over every detail of the article: what can be gleaned about the tone on set? Why do we think it was not accompanied by a photo? And what do the boys think this means for the strategy of the film moving forward? All that plus the winner of our inflatable Ecto contest, a Ghostbusters-themed lightsaber, and another ridiculous bootleg available online! Join us!
This week on the show: the latest in Ghostbusters Afterlife news and Ghostbusters Year One Issue 1 discussion! First up, remembering Gunnar Ferdinandsen, the legendary special effects artist whom you might not recognize by name but certainly will by his work. Then some film updates including a quick update on the Vanity Fair confirmation that Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts, and Sigourney Weaver will all be in the film and a fun on-set story (more on that next week). Then in the second half of the show, Troy and Chris discuss their thoughts on IDW’s latest entry in the comics lexicon: Year One and a backstory with Winston Zeddemore we’ve never seen before!
This week on the show, long-time writer of the Ghostbusters IDW Comics Erik Burnham returns to talk about Ghostbusters Year One! With the first of four issues on shelves this week, now’s the time to jump on-board the IDW train, and Troy and Chris catch up with Erik on all that’s been in the comics world since he was last on the show and what’s in store for readers this week and moving forward! All that plus Chris’ idea for a new cinematic universe on the next Crossrip!
This week on the show, has it really been this long? Boy, we should really treat this year as a new “pilot” so to speak, so that you know who these two dopes are that talk for hours and hours and why you should listen to them. And sure, since we’ve been on hiatus for the holidays we should probably talk about the QuickBooks ads starring Annie Potts reprising her role as Janine, some of the most recent Ghostbusters Afterlife news and murmurings, remembering SFX artist Tim Lawrence and comedian Buck Henry, and just what exactly was that awesome Atom View technology that Sony Electronics was showing off at CES? Troy explains why it made him geek out (aside from the Ecto being refurbished and on display in front of the Vegas crowd). Bonus, just what was Troy’s ridiculous bootleg gift from his parents for Christmas? Help us figure out one of the signatures this week on the show!
