Ghostbusters Interdimensional Crossrip

This week we're opening up the phone lines and playing the huge backlog of voicemails that we have in the archive, plus talking with a special guest: Troy's wife Kelly. See, here's the thing - Kelly isn't a Ghosthead but she has to live with one. So how is she feeling about the new movie? What are her thoughts on the trailers? Does she miss talking to her husband because he podcasts so darn much? Find out as the two share a conversation after the latest news. Singapore's Guinness World Record, trailers and TV spots, magazines and books, lots of stuff going on. Then stay tuned for your listener voicemails including one of the funniest things we've heard in a while from a listener's son!

Join us this week for another trip to the Cyclotron for a roundtable discussing IDW Comics' Ghostbusters International #4 and #5. This time around, Ryan Doell of the Ghostbusters of BC and Matt Provencal of Cross the Streams Radio join Troy and Chris to chat about events that unfold in both of the two most recent books, do their best to point out all the easter eggs, and get tripped up when they try to name more than two French actors!

This week on the show, we're joined by psychology professor and author of the Geek Handbook, Alex Langley. Alex joins us to chat a little about the in-world psychology of Ghostbusters (ie. the phrase "I ain't afraid of no ghosts" and how humor helps disarm stressful situations, why the hell do crowds gather around the hellmouth where the world might be ending?), then chats a little about the general social media response to the new Ghostbusters, the very polarized views, and introduces Troy and Chris to the concept of "weaponized nostalgia." We also talk with Alex a bit about the benefits and the detriments of having these extended adolescences, purchasing toys and playing dress up as adults. This is one you won't want to miss. Stick around afterward for the latest news including a Ghostbusters Day roundup, (sort of) results of the Loot Crate contest, Jimmy Kimmel guests both old and new in celebration of the new movie and Ghostbusters Day, Ivan Reitman on the KROQ Kevin & Bean show talking about Ghostbusters old and new, featurettes give us a better idea of the new Ghostbusters characters (and a taste of Fall Out Boy's new theme), new LEGO Dimensions packs announced including a Ghostbusters (2016) story, that plus a whole lot more on another jam-packed episode!
