World Netball president Dame Liz Nicholl was full of praise for the organisers. 

Team Gibraltar shared the court with giants; what an experience for Sophia Shacaluga, Neina Roberts Cantrell, Cellene Griffin and and Arabella Duck. Look forward to speaking to them.

Also Jose Marie Ruiz was there, he spoke to the winners, Australia.

The Gibraltar FA says it’s improved its pathway for girls. 

Tiago Costa is now their grassroots manager and one of their coaches for the U15 girls. 

Tiago joins us after attending a UEFA conference on Women’s Coach Development at National Team Level in Ireland.

Team Gibraltar has just achieved its highest scoring game so far at the Netball World Youth Cup. Our sports reporter Jose Mari Ruiz had just returned from the match and to bring us the latest and look ahead to what’s coming up in sport over the weekend.

Bayside School is marking European Day of Languages today. It's a date that has been celebrated every year since 2001. With the school organising events to celebrate the day, we spoke to by Bayside language students Jessie Chipol Nunez and Stan Bielanowicz, as well as Deputy Head Girl and part of the Y12 responsibility team Celine Cruz. 

The weekend is in sight and EY's annual Relay for Children is taking place this Sunday, raising money for a different cause every year. This year, the event is supporting Cancer Relief Gibraltar and the Cancer Relief Centre. EY's Stephen Carreras and Cancer Relief's Marisa Desoisa explained more about the event.

Local band Cedar are getting ready to go on the road, with a new tour starting next month. They also have a new single, 100%, being released next week, but they allowed Radio Gibraltar to play it early as a one off exclusive! Band members Daryl, Patrick, and Daniel explained what their new song is about.

The Chief Minister has denied all allegations of “perception of corruption” made in the Principal Auditor’s report, particularly those concerning the Wildlife Gibraltar Ltd contract and references to the wife of Environment Minister John Cortes. Fabian Picardo described the report as “egregiously wrong and factually unfair,” accusing the former Auditor of poor practice. We unpacked his speech from this morning’s Parliament session.

The Netball World Youth Cup now moves into the next phase as Gibraltar prepared to  face Fiji. A song synonymous with the Cup has of course been Simon Dumas' 'Mighty as a Rock'. The Nashville based local singer gave Radio Gibraltar's Breakfast Show an exclusive listen of his new single 'Pretending I'm A Cowboy' earlier today.

Next week, the community will once again come together for the Cancer Research Walk For Life. Last year, over 450 people took part and raised an incredible £3,500 for life-saving research. This year’s event takes place on Saturday the 4th of October at Casemates. We spoke to Annette Goodman from Cancer Research Gibraltar.

And the Gibraltar Cadet Force is recruiting new members. You need to be between twelve and eighteen years old and the idea is to have fun, learn new skills and meet other youngsters with similar interests. We invited Officer Commanding Gibraltar Cadets, Major Juri Williamson and Company Quartermaster Sergeant involved in recuit training, Jean Paul Latin to the studio.

We spoke to Jose Mari Ruiz live from the Europa Sports Complex, as Gibraltar was gearing up to take on reigning champions New Zealand at the World Netball Youth Cup! He also asked the organisers how the tournament has gone for them.

The 29th edition of the Calpe Conference has just come to an end, with a focus on Gibraltar during the Second World War. For the first time the conference was held in the newly refurbished World War II Tunnels Complex. The Director of the Gibraltar Museum, Professor Clive Finlayson told us more.

And, the International Centre for Atlantic History is hosting its first symposium on the Rock focused on the Spanish Civil War. Featuring speakers both local and international, the ICAH hopes to make Gibraltar a hub for historians studying Atlantic history. We spoke to cofounders Anthony Pitaluga Prof. Christian Cwik along with two of the guest speakers Nikolaus Braunshor and Claudia Martinez Hernandez.

The Chief Minister has started an analysis in Parliament of the latest Principal Auditor’s report, which is expected to last a few days. He hopes the public will see the allegations made against the Government by the former Principal Auditor are factually and legally improper. Mr Picardo says he has consulted an audit specialist and is clear the report fails to comply with the basic requirements of independence and impartiality. Ros Astengo has been following Parliament proceedings.

Our sports reporter Jose Mari Ruiz shared sad news from the Netball Youth World Cup: the sudden passing of one of World Netball’s Technical Officials. Carol Alexander was in Gibraltar for the Netball World Youth Cup. World Netball says Carol was a valued member of the Netball family whose dedication and passion for the sport, both in Europe and on a world level, was invaluable.

Success for team Gibraltar at the Special Olympics European Aquatics Open Water Cup in Barcelona! Ivan Manion Gomez claimed first place in the unified 800m event, whilst Adam Stewart came second. We caught up with Ivan and Adam, as well as Unified Partner, Charles Harrison and Coach, Darren Grech. 

The Gibraltar Risk Management Association is hosting a discussion for the business community. It's theme; From 'Risk to Resilience: Embedding ESG into Business Strategy', will feature Martin Massey, founder of One Risk Consulting; he was in the studio now alongside GRMA members, Kevin Borret and Knolly Knights. 

And as part of Menopause Awareness Month, the Federation of Small Businesses' next Wellbeing & Health in the Workplace session will focus on the Menopause & Stress: Thriving at Work. The session will explore practical and holistic strategies to better manage stress in the workplace during menopause. GFSB Board Director Dr Karl Alvarez was in the studio.

With the Gibraltar Netball Youth World Cup in full swing, our sports reporter Jose Mari Ruiz gave us a roundup of how the games are going, sharing news that both Zambia and Sri Lanka have withdrawn from the tournament due to visa issues. He also told us news of other sports events from over the weekend.

The Gibraltar Triathlon 2025 is just around the corner, taking place Sunday 5th October. The event will be raising funds for the GBC Open Day and are encouraging teams to get creative with their team names. Triathlete Chris Walker explained why.

According to Clubhouse one in four people experience a mental health condition in any given year. As many of us spend more time in the office than at home, the charity has launched a course on “Empowering Managers". Mental Health First Aid Instructor for Clubhouse Maryanne Nacimiento, Clubhouse member Tim Benson and People Director from Bassadone Nicole Stevens, told us more about the course.

And, summer may be over but there’s lots to look forward to over the coming months as Gibraltar Cultural Services has announced its Autumn programme. There are around 20 art, literature and Christmas events lined up. We spoke to Jodie Ferrar Barcio and Naomi Duarte from GCS.

Viewpoint was back on our screens last night after a break. There were heated exchanges around the Principal Auditor’s Report, as well as discussions on Tuesday’s powercut, with both the former Opposition Leader Daniel Feetham and former Government Minister Neil Costa agreeing that there could be a case for negligence on the part of SDE Limited. We caught up with the show’s host Ros Astengo.

The Netball Youth World Cup is here! The opening ceremony kicks off this evening, with coverage live on GBC Television. Gibraltar's first game will be tomorrow morning at 10am, against the Cook Islands, which is sold out! We spoke to coach Janice Moreno and player Anna Howard.

Our sports reporter Jose Mari Ruiz also spoke about a meeting held last night to discuss a complete revamp of youth basketball, a big moment for rowers Leslie Grech and Enrique Briones, and how Gibraltar’s darts team is gearing up for the WDF World Cup in South Korea.

Marking the 40th anniversary of the complete opening of the Frontier, Theatre Makers are putting on a new play called In the Still of the Night. Performances at the World War II Tunnels from 14th-16th October. Jackie Villa, Anne Balestrino Reyes and Katie Reyes from Theatre Makers were in the studio.

A new exhibition marking 40 years since the full reopening of the land frontier with Spain opened Monday at the John Macintosh Hall. Curated by the National Archives, it reflects on the 16-year blockade imposed by Franco’s regime and the political tensions that shaped its eventual reopening in February 1985. Gerry Wood is the Archivist and has led the team preparing it.

ViewPoint is back on GBC Television tonight and starts off strong with a strong panel, as we approach the midway point of the GSLP/Liberals' 4th term in government. We spoke to the programme’s host Ros Astengo.

Melon Diesel are back! They were in the studio to announce that they’ll be playing in Malaga and Madrid soon but will also have a concert in Gibraltar in February. Band members Dylan Ferro, Danny Bugeja and Dani Fa explained that ticket sales will be through their new website.
