Pharoahe Monch came down to the Brownswood basement ahead of his sold out show at The Garage in Highbury a couple of weeks ago. We talked Hip Hop history, digging for records, sampling and his love of playing in the UK. I avoided the really obvious hits that you can hear everywhere and went for my personal faves, and a solid dose of the music that went on to shape the unique sound of Earth Wind and Fire from his early years working with two great mentors to him, Ramsey Lewis and Charles Stepney.I got so much pleasure recording this – I hope you enjoy as much as I did!

Ahead of their live show at St Pancras Old Church, here's a chat I had with the two boys from LV, Will and Simon, discussing their beginnings, their D&B period, linking up with Keysound and Hyperdub, working with Joshua Idehen, Omkalumkoolkat, and the new project featuring Armenian pianist, Tigran Hamasyan.Ancient Mechanisms’ is the fourth album by globetrotting London production duo LV. It traces a train of thought that was sparked by a live session with Tigran Hamasyan back in 2012: two and a half years down the line and a trip to Belgium later, the finished record is as much about the workings of musical artefacts as it is about putting the virtuoso pianist into new contexts.lvlvlv.bandcamp.com/album/ancient-mechanismsdice.fm/lv-30th-oct-st-pancra…church-london-ticketsTRACKLISTLV - TransitionIan Pooley - What's Your Number (Jazzanova Remix)Bad Company - The NineLes Voleurs - Cabin FeverDJ Vadim - Got To RockLV - GlobetrottingLV & Joshua Idehen - Never TiredLV & Okmalumkoolkat - BoomslangTigran Hamasyan & LV - Rain ShadowLV Ft Tigran Hamasyan - Jump & ReachLV - CarillonLV - Quick ReturnLV - Broken MomentLV - Dansaertstraat
