Today's guest DJ is Julio Gomez. He is the brain behind the band I Believe In Julio, and was a member of the Wildfire. He also cohosts the podcasts Grand Rhapsody and Bandscamps with our mutual friend, Dan Fisher. Julio is someone I met in the early part of the 2000's when I was living in Grand Rapids, Michigan and our bands were playing shows. I got to know Julio through our small tight knit music scene, and had the privilege of playing music with him in various projects. I've always admired the way Julio approaches any project he does and have enjoyed watching him grow as a musician, and an artist. It was a lot of fun to sit with Julio and talk about the music that helped form him as an adolescent, and eventually led him to start making music of his own. So sit back and enjoy the tunes and the conversation I had with Julio Gomez.  

When I started putting this episode together I had no idea that a lot of these songs could've been on a mixtape that was stuck in the cassette deck of my 1984 Delta 88, circa 1998. So come on in, and lets take a trip around Grand Rapids, Michigan and checkout some of the songs I was into around that time.

Today's guest is someone who's music I have loved since my teenage years and continually come back to, Mr. Brandon Butler. Brandon was a member of the influential band Boys Life as well as a member of a band that more people should've have known about during their existence, The Farewell Bend. The Farewell Bend actually reissued their lone LP just last month via Spartan Records, and I highly suggest you head over to their website and pick up a copy; you will not be disappointed. After The Farewell Bend called it a day, Brandon was a member of the band Canyon that put out two really great records as well, and became Jay Farrar (Son Volt, Uncle Tupelo) backing band for a few tours. After Canyon split he released three solo LP's under his own name, and also started the band Six Bells. I hope you're ready for a long one, because it is, haha! Today's episode is with our special guest Damian Master. Damian is a prolific musician and independent record label operator, as well as a music fanatic much like we are. Damian took us on a journey through 10 songs that he adores and have influenced him in his musical journey. Damian currently is working on new music with his hardcore band Prison Suicide as well as new hardcore project AMMONIIA. He is also putting the finishing touches on a new A Pregnant Light LP which compiles all of the songs that were part of his Kiss Me Through the Phone series that ran all of last year. It was a great time talking about music with Damian and catching up on what has kept him busy through most of last year, and through the beginning part of this year.
