It’s going to be on the pitching side.” President of Baseball Operations Jed Hoyer echoed the message: “We’re going to have an active offseason … largest focus will be on pitching.” The need is for both the rotation and bullpen. With some key arms injured and options declined (like Shota Imanaga), there’s a clear gap to fill.After reaching the playoffs for the first time in a full season since 2018, the Cubs want to build on that progress — and pitching is the area with the most opportunity for meaningful improvement. The trade market and free‐agent market will both be in play.
