Listen to this episode and be encouraged to reclaim your stories of "when God came through" from the "pit of forgetfulness." Try remembering when God answered a prayer, helped a broken relationship or changed the course of events in your life. Reframe your internal narrative about life and existence. Don't let your identity be defined by the World News, popular opinion on Social Media or even your own wounds. There is more to life than just the negatives.
We all have stories with God, but most of us have forgotten them. The pit of forgetfulness has chewed them up and swallowed them. We must reclaim or stories of God's provision. We have forgotten to highlight the good things God has done in our lives. We need to savor and them and delight in them.
Lastly, learn to take your stories of God's help or provision and fight today's fear, loneliness, depression or despair with the same stories. Say to yourself, "God, since you were able to help me in the past in this certain situation, that means you are able to help me battle fear today in this current situation. You can do it!"
This stimulates faith to grow and your confidence in God to expand!

I always thought I knew what the 4th Soil was. But I think I was very mistaken. Think with me for a few minutes and discover the goodness of Jesus! You will love this one!
Too often we go down the route of Bad Religion and conclude that the 4th soil is the "morally perfect life." Well, the Bible shows that there is no morally perfect life. From Moses to King David to Peter - none are morally perfect. (Of course God wants us to grow in goodness but WITHOUT becoming a Pharisee / self-righteous accuser.)
How many people have got enough religion to just get a moral code or system of rules and use it to find fault with others but not enough of Jesus to want to change and become more like Him? Pharisee-Christians are the single greatest threat to the Gospel. See John chapter 8.
A surprising example of the wonderful 4th soil that Jesus is talking about is Rahab the prostitute! Wonderfully, she is cited in Hebrews 11 as a woman of faith!
Consider this episode as we learn to avoid the hideous evil of the right-wing self-righteous Pharisees but also the left-wing permissive liberal Sadducees. Jesus didn't call us to political groups or religious groups but to the Himself and to His Kingdom and it's values.
Enjoy!

This a good one! This is the entire context of creating the book! Want to know why I spent 20 years digging through not only what Jesus said, but really focusing on "how" He related to different people? He is wonderful and He's amazing - but few people really know his goodness and "savior" Him!
It's one thing to come to the scriptures and every passage about Jesus to "extract a mental framework of Theology" but it is another thing to come and interact with Jesus as a person. One leads to standing in judgement of others and accusing them day and night just like the enemy (Revelation 12:10). Another leads to holding to the truth in Jesus but learning how to love people as He did.
In short, we need to "Know God" and connect with Him in prayer rather than merely "know about God" in an information sense only. We need the best theology but as a doorway to connect with God. If theology (knowledge of God) becomes a "means in itself" then we become modern Pharisees who have who can articulate theology but hate God when He shows up and stands before us just like Jesus did with them. (John 5:39-40)

This is the Capstone of Days 1 -17 (which try to reveal Jesus' good character to imperfect people)! Day 17 is also my very favorite episode because you see so much of Jesus' goodness to help Peter over come failure, grow and succeed!
Peter has an epic journey of successes, failures and sins while walking with Jesus. However, the wonderful thing is that Jesus never rejects Peter or pushes him away like a religious Pharisee would. Jesus constantly instructs, strengthens, challenges and even disciples Peter but always to build him up and make him stronger and more emotionally healthy.
If everybody knew Jesus was this kind of person there would be a lot more encouragement and joy in the "church" and in the world and a lot more goodness and care for our fellow human beings, whoever they are!

Peter commits the ultimate sin of totally betraying His friend and Lord (Jesus) because he is afraid the Romans will kill him.

Wow, right when Jesus needs the disciples the most,.... what do they do? It's painful to realize but they fall asleep. But even here Jesus doesn't get moody or lash out. He is so emotionally healthy that He intensely challenges them to grow, to become more for their own good and for the good of others, even though they are failing Him!
Jesus never "reacts" like we do. But, often we misinterpret his words and ways. If you can constantly see that He never rejects the disciples but is always training them to care about others and to face the future - you will understand His actions.
Even in this situation, Jesus is training the disciples to face the Roman oppression and the attacks of the religious Pharisees and Sadducees that will occur in a few weeks because He is about to die.
Everything He does is for our good and the good of those around us!

The sinful argument of "Who Is the Greatest" is continuing in Peter's mind : ) In as sense this is the 4th time we read about this conflict with the Disciples. Peter is absolutely confident that the other 11 disciples might fall away and betray Jesus, but that he, Peter, will remain loyal to the very end. Jesus has some very simple but profound things to say to Peter to strengthen him against despair and self-loathing once he fails Jesus more deeply that Peter can even imagine is possible.
Once again we see how steady and strong Jesus is for Peter even during Peter's greatest failures and sins.
Jesus is amazing and this is who He wants to be in our lives as well!

This episode is completely amazing in my mind because of what Jesus does right in the middle of this 3rd time the disciples are fighting with one another about "Who Is the Greatest!"
Have you combined Luke 22 and John 13 and seen what Jesus does?
It will change your whole view of Jesus and therefore it will change your whole view of God because, "If you have seen Me [Jesus], you have seen the Father [God]."
Understanding Jesus' emotional health enables us to see God's emotional health in a world culture of devolving emotional health.
Take the high road and worship the God-man Jesus!
