Anthony Mackie must have some super-secret sci-fi deal with Netflix to be the next action hero. I mean he was the man in Altered Carbon Season 2 and we won’t bring up his Disney ties as the Falcon in the Avengers films. Outside the Wire is his latest venture and here are my thoughts about it.

The Plot

In 2036AD, a civil war between pro-Russian insurgents and local resistances in Ukraine leads the US to deploy peacekeeping forces. During an operation, a team of United States Marines and "Gumps" (robotic soldiers) are ambushed. Disobeying an order, drone pilot 1st Lt. Harp deploys a Hellfire missile in a drone strike against a suspected enemy launcher, killing 2 Marines but saving 38. As punishment, Harp is sent to Camp Nathaniel, the US base of operations in Ukraine where he is assigned to Captain Leo, a highly advanced and experimental android super-soldier masquerading as a human officer.

Outside the Wire was released by Netflix digitally on January 15, 2021. The film was the most-watched on the platform over its debut weekend.

With WandaVision dropping on Disney + MCU fans like myself are finally getting ready to enter the next phase of the movies we have grown to enjoy. This was not your typical MCU formula production resembling anything we have seen before and it possibly could be a turn off for many who expected something extremely different especially after seeing streaming shows like the NETFLIX Marvel Shows and the Movies themselves.

Renowned animation producer Bruce Timm takes the Dark Knight back to the 1970s for a supernatural-laden martial arts extravaganza in Batman: Soul of The Dragon, the next entry in the popular series of the DC Universe Movies. The film is rated R for some violence.

Set in the midst of the swinging 1970s, this Elseworlds adventure finds Bruce Wayne training under a master sensei. It is here that Bruce, along with other elite students, is forged in the fire of the martial arts discipline. The lifelong bonds they form will be put to the test when a deadly menace arises from their past. It will take the combined efforts of Batman, world-renowned martial artists Richard Dragon, Ben Turner and Lady Shiva, and their mentor O-Sensei to battle the monsters of this world and beyond!

90s X-Men on Fox was the gold standard that had drawn many people to the X-Men as a whole. It was the literal launching point for the Fox X-Men movies whether you loved them or hated them they were some of the hottest properties out there cashing in on the popularity of Wolverine, Storm, and Professor X and Magneto.

Now we have a gap in seeing these characters on both the small and big screen unless you want to watch the older 90s cartoon and all the Fox Marvel films on streaming services or Blu Ray and DVD if that’s your thing. Netflix dug up a Japanese animated series made in 2011 Marvel Anime: X-Men and Marvel Anime: Wolverine I started watching the X-Men Season which is 12 Episodes and has your basic Japanese animation style so I was curious and decided to take a look.

It’s that time for the New Years resolutions and seeing how long we can keep up the extravagant promises we make to ourselves each year that usually get swept under the rug by mid-February, early March. We hear it all the time, New Year New Me, this is my year, I’m going to do this better, blah blah blah. So, at a minimum: We are all hoping that the S@#% show that 2020 has turned out to be doesn’t bleed over into 2021. With that being said there will be changes to the Podcast and to the YouTube Channel and I hope that they will all be for the better. Hopefully more movies, more television, more superheroes and even more fun stuff.

Now that we are in 2021 does anyone feel any different? I mean just like every other year we are going to have problems writing the date properly but now we have so many other things to worry about. I mean between people waiting on stimulus assistance, unemployment, new COVID strains, and people still not able to get a PS5 or an XBOX Series X I am surprised we didn’t get alien invaders on the 2020 Jumanji game we have been playing for the past year.

I know people wanted me to talk about the Mandalorian during my live stream but I had to re-watch these last 4 episodes of the second season to keep that energy high.

I have been poking the bear for the last two months by saying Star Wars is better than Star Trek and I really have to add context to my statement because I have been getting a few choice words from people over the internet, not like I let stuff like that get to me because I’m an asshole but some of my more dedicated listeners deserve my respect.

The hype was real. The Wonder Woman sequel finally hits theaters (sort of) and this movie originally was supposed to be released back in 2019 but due to the pandemic and many theaters being closed like many “Blockbusters” it found itself being pushed back and according to some it should have been pushed off a cliff…

Everyone expects me to pretty much bash Warner Bros superhero films because of my disagreement in how Zach Snyder made the core Justice League (Superman & Batman) so dark and the lighter toned movies I really enjoyed (Shazam, Aquaman, & Wonder Woman). I plan on taking a different approach to WW84 because just like in the reviews you see online my house was split in how we felt about the movie although I don’t think there was an extreme “hate” for the film. So, let’s look at the Good, the Bad, and the WTF regarding this movie.

Christmas is next weekend; we are in the Holiday season full swing and I am not 100% a Grinch but don’t ask me anything about the Mandalorian season finale because I need to watch it twice so I can give my proper 2 cents.  With that being said I plan on talking about everything else so some of this you may know, some of it maybe not but sit back and enjoy the ride.

Hot off of Warner Bros announcements last week regarding releasing all their 2021 Movies in theaters and streaming Disney held their Investors Day. This was the Ultimate Hold my Beer Moment but it still left so many unanswered questions about movie releases in theaters but streaming is about to be off the rails.

Now I am a Disney Shareholder so I may be a little biased in all of my talks about Disney as a whole but who wouldn’t be for something that makes the money. I started doing micro share transactions through Stash Invest about two years ago $5 here $10 there and there were some ups and downs but for some reason I stayed with Disney as a stock I invested in. Earlier this year I doubled down putting extra cash into it when COVID hit and shares dropped to $79. I mean theme parks are the big money maker for the company but Movies and Streaming have had to pick up the slack. So, on the announcements made on investment day which for most parts was a rehash of the D23 expo where they announced many of the Marvel properties let me highlight a few of these that they now have trailers for and I would say 2021 and beyond is looking a little brighter.

We recently got the news that Wonder Woman 84 was going to release on Christmas Day and now Warner Bros drops the nuke on the movie theater industry. Also, it has other production studios contemplating what they are going to do moving forward.
