This week marked another turning point in the Console Wars with PlayStation finally revealing the prices of their new consoles and accessories. This led to some pretty interesting behavior by those trying to but the new console and serious screw ups by major retailers. Let’s talk about this and some other interesting Nerdy News.

Can an entertainment podcast get a break? Before this year I was going to the movies each and every week and new streaming shows were popping off all the time. This was supposed to be a big year for superhero/sci-fi, and action fans like myself now here we are in September and we are climbing the walls let’s talk about why.

Let’s pop off some entertainment news and then finish up with a GoingFullNerd review of the Live Action Mulan on Disney Plus.

Superheroes are supposed to be beacons of hope.  Superheroes are supposed to be the best the world has to offer.  I don’t care what you say about the Seven in the second season of “The Boys” on Amazon but these are not superheroes.  Let’s talk about the 1st three episodes of the long awaited second season and other Nerd News for the week.

I was able to see The New Mutants a film that was supposed to be released a couple of years ago during the X-Men Fox Universe series of movies. It has been met with push backs, reshoots, and generally negative publicity ahead of its release. Fast forward to now it finally hits theaters during the COVID-19 pandemic and BOOM, I want to know who at Disney/Marvel wanted this to fail so badly.

Let’s look at the good and the bad of the film and really figure out what went wrong so horribly wrong.

Being Iconic is not something you set out to do. You as an individual set out just to make a difference one small step at a time or you try to just give your best effort which is all anyone can ask for. People get up in arms about the wrong things and they escalate and then BOOM something happens to give us a harsh reality check.

A new take on the Superman mythos produced by Warner Bros. Animation and DC Entertainment. It is the thirty-ninth film in the DC Universe Animated Original Movies. The film is the first of a new group of direct-to-video animated films, following the conclusion of the previous one in Justice League Dark: Apokolips War. Pretty much the film chronicles the early life of Clark Kent, before he became known as Superman.

No Batman, No Teen Titans, all Deathstroke. In this new Warner Bros Animation (DC Animated Film) we get an updated origin story for Deathstroke the Terminator the heavily armed assassin that gained popularity from his position as a nemesis to the Teen Titans and Batman also since he was the template in which everyone’s favorite merc with a mouth was based on as a parody or at least that’s the way I look at it but since that Leifeld guy blocked me on Twitter (never knew I was on his radar) I guess I will never get the full story first hand.

I like to think that things were a lot simpler in the past and I stand behind innovation and improvements so I know everyone wants to know different opinions and impressions on the announcements made during DC Fandome and the concept of the whole idea.  So, I would ask that you take my comments with a grain of salt because I know there are those who feel I am hating on DC Comics and that is so far from the truth I just hold them to a very high standard because when you are considered the elder statesmen of comics you should conduct yourself as so.

After 7 seasons the Marvel centric television show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. finished its final season and for some it was good riddance for some it was a sad day. The one thing I can say about the show is that it was a wild ride through crazy corners of the Marvel Universe and it started with the statement #ItsAllConnected.

Netflix Originals are hit or miss. Can they be enjoyable? Sure.  Can they have big budgets? Sure. Can they have top rated stars? They sure do.

So, this week we are going to talk about Project Power a 2020 American superhero film directed by Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost, produced by Eric Newman and Bryan Unkeless, and written by Mattson Tomlin. It stars Jamie Foxx, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Dominique Fishback, alongside Colson Baker, Rodrigo Santoro, Amy Landecker and Allen Maldonado, and follows a drug dealer, police officer, and former soldier who team up to stop the distribution of a pill that gives the user superpowers for five minutes. The concept of this film is quite similar to a 2016 Indian Tamil-language science fiction action film Iru Mugan written and directed by Anand Shankar.
