This is not a Red Inker episode, it's a quick reminder and taster to let you know that Double Century, my podcast on cricket history, is back for it's second series. This is really more of a reminder, and explainer, on what Double Century season two will be. It's an entire series on one topic, the story of Basil D'Oliveira and race in cricket. New episodes will drop on it's own feed every Friday. Come subscribe and listen along.

Jimmy Anderson doesn’t talk to the press much, he’s started being more verbal of recent years through his podcast, but he’s still known as a very monosyllabic grunter. But in lockdown, he finally opened up in some very long chats with Samanth Subramanian. So, we got Samanth on to discuss Jimmy’s bowling, James’ off field personality and why his run up is longer now.

On the back of my articles on how the T20 franchises don’t pay and why the system isn’t working, I brought in Tim Cutler, the former CEO of Hong Kong Cricket to talk. In this episode we look at how T20 is run, why no one is in charge, how it is possible that players aren’t being paid, and what you have to do to get a league sanctioned. Cutler founded the Hong Kong Blitz, and now is the founder of Emerging Cricket. This podcast will also be found on Emerging Cricket’s podcast.

Channel 9 was the first famous cricket broadcast. It changed how we saw the game, was so popular that it spun off a comedy empire and many of us grew up with these sounds as our backdrop. And then it became “All about the matiest mates who ever mated.” So, we got the man who wrote that line, Geoff Lemon, to come talk about Channel 9’s cricket coverage, and why he wrote about it.

MS Dhoni retired from intentional cricket recently and so I got Sid Monga to come on and chat about the man he has covered for his entire career. We talk Ranchi, outsiders, keeping styles, Chennai and how much Indian cricket changed when he was around.

Eoin Morgan has had an incredible career, born into a four generation cricket family in Ireland, he’s gone on to be the person to bring the World Cup to England. So I found someone who has spent a lot of time working out who the real Eoin Morgan is. Melinda Farrell has spent the last five years following the England ODI team and she wrote a feature on Morgan that went up just before the World Cup. In this episode we discuss Morgan’s cold reputation, his journey from the poor parts of Dublin to affluent Dulwich College, his dual nationality, how much he didn’t like Kolkata, Baz McCullum and England winning the World Cup.

This week we talk about that weary battle-horse Mashrafe Mortaza. Our guest is Mohammad Isam, whose career as a fan, player and writer have all gone on while Mashrafe has played international cricket. Meaning he’s an ideal person to come on and talk about his cricketer and his 19 year career. Here we talk about his calmness, the India relationship, how Andy Roberts changed everything and what his legacy within Bangladesh cricket will be.

Legendary broadcaster Neil Manthorp joins us to talk about all the changes in cricket. Manners is often annoyed by people saying that cricket hasn’t changed, and we go through the changes to cricket over the years. How many days do Test matches go for, how many players are in a team, the number or balls in an over, what the pitch is made of. Listen to two friends rant about the things that people should know about cricket and often don’t.
