    It was all positive energy this morning and a lot of news! After the live news this morning we sat down with Mr. Byron Gaylord Jr., Sales Directors for Rooftop Solutions & Fox Valley Filter. With a background in leadership and managing teams, Byron was great to speak to about cultivating talent. Originally from Arizona, Byron has done a lot of traveling and now calls Aurora his home. In our interview we talked about the importance of family, hard work and the principles of sales. Also, we took great pains to highlight and discuss the work/life balance. It’s important to work hard, but family and spending time with loved ones is paramount as well. We wish Byron and Rooftop Solutions the very best in 2021!

    Make memories, be motivated and love your family; but that wasn't all! We had a great time sitting with and talking to Mireya Banuelos this morning. From learning about a day in the life of a realtor to metal health work; such motivation so early! As an Aurora businesswoman, Mireya shared with us her story and the effect her Mom has had on her life. She is educated, passionate about what she does, and spends time helping others. Mireya is the current Secretary of the Women's Council of Realtors for Fox Valley, & a realtor with Results Realty ERA Powered. The future is bright for 2021; not just for the real estate market, but also within all of our lives!

    From London to Boston, back to Aurora; style & fashion on the move! We were pleased to be joined on the show by Mackenzie Kerby, founder and owner of the High Street boutique. It was awesome to learn about her amazing story and it’s very motivational as well. You’ve heard us say that chasing one’s passion is paramount, and that still rings true! But we also have to make sure we’re making the correct steps towards our goals. Mackenzie has done a lot of traveling, it was great getting to pick her brain about London! With a background in education, Mackenzie explained that she is passionate about her role as an International Educator. Faith, style, fashion & managing being a businesswoman; this episode has it all!

    What started as an idea has come to life, twice! Yesterday we sat down with a dear friend of the show, Mr. Sam Hall, the author of 24 Rungs: An ASMR Journey To Recovery. Our paths crossed in the early days of the pandemic in our country. Literally, the start. Sam is a writer and has a great and wonderful talent. He inspired us early on with what he’d done, from initial talks we knew we’d found a like-minded individual. This is Sam’s 1st official interview, but he’s been on the show a million times before! In fact, Sam probably has more chop up hours (talks) than ANYONE to date! That’s our boy right there; he’s also a recent father! Originally from Chicago, Mrs. B has since become an Aurora business owner with a message all her own. From pleasing clients to making everyone look good, she knows how to make a business succeed. We spoke about spirituality, her story and her time in Atlanta. Beverly loves her family, so we also talked about what love most about our loved ones. In addition to that, Mrs. B and the salon are open in a safe, socially distanced (private) manner for clients. Get your hair did with professionalism and style! Let’s slay all 2021!

    Change is coming to Aurora, that’s the message. Today we had the pleasure of speaking to Mr. Saul Fultz, candidate for 7th ward Alderman. As a lifelong Auroran Saul’s perspective is greatly appreciated. Also an Army veteran, Saul has done a lot in the community and continues to have the capacity to serve. For our city residents, many have expressed frustration in many areas. Saul proposes to do what he can to improve the quality of life for those in his respective ward. It takes hard work to keep things moving and to help others. We wish Saul good luck in his journey and we appreciate his time for sitting down with the 2nd largest city’s 1st daily news podcast.

    From thinking about it to doing it; another motivational Monday. Today we sat down with  the husband & wife team of Presidential Cleaning, Dernell & Karina Darden. We learned a lot and we also got to know two people who’ve been involved in the community for some time. Karina is originally from Bolivia and Dernell has Aurora roots and graduated from Oswego high school. Together they started an awesome cleaning business in 2019. Check out the full video here!

  • Monday | 1/11/2021 | Monday Morning w/ Maddie's Mitten March!

    Staying warm and giving back to others, what a great way to go into the weekend. Today we met Maddie Bozik, namesake of Maddie’s Mittens, a local nonprofit, and learned about what they do. Starting in 2009, Maddie has been providing needed clothing items to school children less fortunate. Starting off with just a few items for locals, her family now has two buses for hauling items. Each bus is in itself also a mobile shop. We took a tour of the buses and had a great conversation with Maddie. In addition to her giving back, she is also a volunteer firefighter. Awesome!

    Aurora Public Library has a lot of great initiatives taking place as we’ve been reporting. Register for some of the events and learn about culture, local government and even Tai Chi!     Today was a jam-packed day and a great morning of interviewing. We were honored  to have Bridget Johnson, owner of Red Hive Market on the show today. Bridget has a fantastic story and we loved talking about her life and work in the city. Born in Cuba, Bridget shared her story and experience as a Latina. The story is both an American story, and a latina's story as well. As a business owner Bridget told us the origins of her store and how it came to be. With a background in social work & culture, she understands people and can relate to them. Business had been down due to the pandemic but has since safely re-opened. We wish Bridget & Red Hive Market the very best in 2021!

    Aurora history front and center once again. Mr. Bill Poss of Luigi’s Pizza & Fun Center was our guest today. This was a fun, lighthearted and deep conversation and we enjoyed it. Bill has been a part of the fabric of the community for 40 years. Times have been especially difficult for our restaurant and entertainment industry, Bill knows firsthand. In this interview we talk about the changes witnessed in the city over the years and what's to come. Currently Luigi’s is open for safe, socially distanced, limited dining. As many also know Luigi’s has also been a place for the community to come together for charitable initiatives. We wish Bill and Luigi’s the very best in this new year and we look forward to going back!
