Gardening early in the morning, that and a lot more. That’s what we got today when speaking with Nelson Saenz, local Auroran and one of the team of Prairie Grass Selections. Nelson was born and raised here in the city and his life story and view was great to hear. We spoke about traveling, good soil and the cannabis industry. There’s a large social justice and reconciliation issue taking place on the sidelines of the cannabis issue. Because of that, our talk went one a few different routes. There are a lot of health benefits (mental & physical) of the burgeoning legal cannabis industry. Prairie Grass Selections is there to help and educate growers. With a focus on community and safety, this is an episode that was a lot of fun!

From Chicago roots to current Aurora status we learned about his early years and the roots of his business. As Aurora continues to grow and develop it’s important to capture the small business perspective. Our co-host Kristine had to be on a conference call, we discovered we need an ethernet cable, but we had coffee! Another friend of the show came by to say hello and this was a very cool and different morning! Today was a vibe on the show, we got to know each other more, talk about ideas and goals and have fun. Today our interview subject was our staff engineer Hunter, who originally hails from Decatur, Illinois. After all the fun we had on the show this morning we think that 'Casual Thursday's' can be a thing going forward. It's a fun, lighthearted and engaging way to get to know us as a team. We also used this time to iron out some kinks and tech issues with the streaming; we're multi-tasking! Tomorrow's episode will be powerful and you don't want to miss this!

Today we were joined by our friend Bob Lockwood of Windy City Game Theater & Aurora Business United. Aurora businesses are still growing strong and there are many people on the move. Great things are happening in a lot of corners and Bob chopped it up with us this morning about what he’s been up to. We rambled a little bit on this episode but that’s what friends do! Bob did suffer a setback recently; but today we couldn’t tell! Nothing can stop the dedicated! Bikes, nature, Riveredge Park and making Aurora beautiful; all in a day’s work for this show! Today we were joined by a great friend of the show, Mr. Charlie Zine. Charlie has been paramount in much of the development that’s taken place in the city. In our conversation we talked about what exactly makes Aurora competitive and what the vision is for the city. City administrations come and go, but the people are always here. You see it's from the people that great ideas flow, Charlie welcomes that. In addition, we also spoke of development taking place now and what’s planned in the future. Charlie and the host of our show are regulars at Tredwell and Two Brothers and this was a conversation long in the making. Charlie is someone to know and he represents Aurora well. Always on the move, and always looking forward!

Aurora Township, love for the city and our family; that and a whole lot more! This morning we got the chance to sit down and talk to Sherry Spears, candidate for Aurora Township trustee. As a lifelong Aurora resident Sherry has a wealth of knowledge about the city. She has dedicated herself to helping others and it's in this capacity that we meet. After our conversation with Mr. Alex Arroyo our eyes were opened to a lot of the more historical aspects of Aurora. The times she recalls and the Aurora of her childhood are still here, but for all to learn from and partake in. We talked about our vision for the city and also what exactly the Township does. Lots of Aurora citizens are unsure if they live in Township or not. Transparency, better access to services and full commitment to community; that’s what Serry is all about.
Shouts go out to our friends of Aurora Business United, Tredwell and All Spoked Up. Big thanks to our friends at TPN (The Prodigal Network) Church and all faith organizations in Aurora. This was by far the most artistic interview ever. On today’s episode we were joined by Joshua Schultz & Rebekah Axtell, two very involved local artists. Josh and Rebekah were behind the great ‘AURORA’ mural behind Tortas Guadalajara and lots of artists were involved. We spoke about Aurora history, creating and sharing in the city vision. For many years Josh has been painting and taking part in great murals. We’ve been fortunate to see his work and paint with him. It was also part travel/conservation effort in this one. Nature, salads, kayaking and Deposit, New York. That’s a real town! Check out this episode, it was a lot of fun today!

Characters, publishing and what it feels like to write; what a great discussion today. We were joined this morning by Shawna Echols, local Aurora author and downtown favorite. Shawna is the author of Seasons which is a really good read. Getting to know what Shawna has experienced in writing this book was cool to learn. All of the hard work necessary to write a book did her well and she gave us some tips too. We’ve seen Shawna out and about, most notably at Tredwell. That's where we first met and got to know her. Also, we spoke about the importance of family and what her creative process is like. Keep your eye out for Shawna and her next great book!

Today on the show we reviewed new equipment and took some time to unwind in the morning. It was part 2 of ‘Books & Pool’ but the outcome was still the same: we won! Our good buddy Bob is now 0 for 2 in billiards, he tried hard again just like last time. Once the coffee hits the system it’s a sure sign of a win. We have more great content coming including a Christmas/end of the year special.
Shouts out to the CAAN Network, Aurora Business United, Tredwell and the Aurora Public Art Commission. A very special thank you to our listeners, fans and supporters. We love and appreciate you all. Stay tuned for more and please subscribe to our YouTube channel. Peace!
On today’s episode of Good Morning Aurora we learned about the old Aurora and the new. We were glad to be joined on the show by Mr. Alex Arroyo, candidate for Aurora Township Supervisor. Like many residents we weren’t exactly sure what Aurora Township does, it’s history or its roles and duties. Getting to know Alex was fun and informative as well. He’s got a lot of Aurora knowledge and history to share. Being born and raised in Aurora has instilled in Alex a blue-collar perspective. As a member of the East Aurora school board, his contributions to the overall team effort have really benefited Aurora. He’s also one of many people who were involved in what is now Benavides STEAM Academy (Indian Trail Court Shopping Center). We wish Alex a lot of luck in the election which is April 6th of next year!
