  • Tuesday | 10/20/2020 | RAIZ on Good Morning Aurora

Are you familiar with the RAIZ program here in Aurora? Neither were we but we learned a lot today. From a book club to everyday assistance, our friends Sandra & Giselle Gonzalez are always at the forefront of change. We’ve had a number of good discussions with these two ladies and we applaud their continued efforts for our city. These ladies are both candidates for Trustee for the WCC board. In addition to the work of Raiz we spoke campaigning and latinx issues. We also spoke about the Quad County Immigrant Mutual Fund. We appreciate our friends for coming into the studio and giving us an update. Rest assured, we stand behind them. Great work being done in our city!

Big shout out to Crystal House, AMVETS and Vizo Arts. Peace to our good friend Josh Schultz and all Aurora artists. Gin Ingram Art, Cotton Seed, Stewart Street, all of it. We've got much more to come, stay tuned for the next big thing and please subscribe to our YouTube Channel! Please get involved or donate for Domestic Violence & Breast Cancer Awareness month. C.H.A.N.G.E. initiatives coming up again and don’t forget to vote. All the news, Monday thru Friday. Be blessed, motivated & positive.

  • Monday | 10/19/2020 | Candidate Corner Pt. 7: Barbara Hernandez Returns!

Kicking Monday off we had a friend of the show & dedicated public servant, State Representative Barbara Hernandez on the show! Our Candidate Corner section has become a great forum for speaking with our elected officials and those seeking office. Barabar is a lifelong Aurora resident and has been a fixture in our community for a long time. Representing the 83rd district, women’s rights, safety & access to quality health & education are just a few of the issues she fights for. In this episode we got to learn about the duties of a State Representative and what that means for constituents. We also spoke about the services and help her office provides and her story of becoming a leader. This is Barbara’s second appearance on our show and we spoke about the impact the pandemic has had on operations. Barbara has recently received many awesome endorsements and we discuss the fast approaching date of November 3rd!

Shout outs go to our friends at Tredwell, Aurora Business United and the Aurora Public Art Commission. Much love and thanks to Cotton Seed Creative Exchange and McCarty Mills. So much love to all Aurora writers and artists, musicians and everyone involved in the arts. It’s Breast Cancer & Domestic Violence Awareness Month so let's do what we can to help those who struggle in our community. Awareness is key but so is action. Be blessed, strong and safe and we will see you all back for another great episode tomorrow. Stay tuned for more!

  • Friday | 10/16/2020 | Sugar Skull City Flow & Ale Hernandez on GMA

Music Friday went a new direction; we had an awesome rapper named Studio B in the studio free styling! The song was 'Sugar Skull City' in honor of the cool initiative taking place downtown. It was really cool and wow, what wordplay! So many cool surprises take place on a Friday, it's become a super fun way to enter the weekend. Our guest today was local Marine corps veteran Ale Hernandez. This was Ale's 4th appearance and she updated us to what's taking place in our community and beyond. When last we met Ale she took an internship with the Chicago Botanical Garden and this was a quick sneak peek & chop up to see what's next with her. Social justice, voting and the life of a Marine; typical, morning coffee conversation! Ale's next endeavor is the VNA where she will be doing contact tracing. A great update for the weekend and we're waiting for more community news from her!

Much love to our friends at REFS Productions, Xavier Addie Collection, Crystal House, Cotton Seed Creative Exchange, Tredwell, A Call To Shoulders & Aurora Public Art. We had a strong week full of great interviews and it was a great accomplishment. Remember its still Domestic Violence & Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Donate your time or volunteer to help out and organization. What we do together mean so much to us all. Thank you to all of our listeners and supporters. And tour fans we've got much, much more coming! Stay tuned to the one and only news show in Aurora with so much style. Be blessed & safe. Peace!

  • Thursday | 10/15/2020 | Gil Rios & Good Morning Aurora: A Conversation All About Aurora

Dignity, respect, hard work & perseverance; that's what Gil Rios's life has been all about. Today's interview was awesome and very informative for us. From Texas to Aurora, Gil has made quite a transition and has contributed a lot to this city. As a member of the Aurora Regional Hispanic Chamber of Commerce he has been in the middle of great things. He also brings history to our discussion and that was interesting to hear! He started a corner pharmacy, taco restaurant and served our country in the Marine Corps. His family has been a big help along the way and he's spent his time giving back. He sponsors initiatives such as bands, Simply Destinee and golf outings. This was a great man to meet. His passion for the city is unrivaled and we wish him much success on everything he does.

Much love and thanks to all the people of Aurora, all Aurora veterans and educators. Thank you to our friends at the Cotton Seed Creative Exchange, Crystal House & REFS Productions. Big props to everyone involved in Fiestas Patrias, Durango tacos and the City of Aurora. Don't forget the C.H.A.N.G.E. Initiative this evening. There's a lot of great things happening and we have a lot more coming. McCarty Mills & Strawberries BBQ is getting it on tomorrow cooking and providing good beer. Stay blessed, safe, motivated & determined. See you all tomorrow on the greatest morning show in earth. Peace!

  • Wednesday | 10/14/2020 | Dave Weaver - Radioman 911 on Good Morning Aurora

Yesterday we had a great conversation with the one & only Radioman 911! Quick on his feet and the person to go to for the scoop, Mr. Dave Weaver is an asset to our community and a man with an inspiring history. Mr. Weaver is the son of a police officer who grew up with his ear to the news and his mind on helping others. No matter if it’s photography, covering civil unrest or “getting what the editor needs”, Dave has been reporting on events big and small. Our shared view on the media being a public service and NOT “the enemy of the people” is a highlight of this episode. Dave has been covering stories prior to the advent of PIO’s (public information officers) and encryption. People are the media, and people are the news. It was great to talk to a man who continues to do so much for our city and society.

Shouts go out to Chuck Goudie & the I Team for being the coolest part of ABC News for a long time! Our host has been a longtime fan! Thank you to all of our fans, subscribers & listeners. Thank you and shout out to Tredwell Coffee, Aurora Public Art & Aurora downtown. Great things are taking place and we’ve got a lot more to come so stay tuned! Don’t forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel, the C.H.A.N.G.E. Initiative listening sessions are taking place. The next one is tonight at 6pm at St. Therese Church located at 271 N. Farnsworth Ave. Be safe, motivated and blessed and tune in tomorrow for another great episode! Peace!

  • Tuesday | 10/13/2020 | From The Barrio To The Morning Show: A Conversation w/ Robert Renteria
Yesterday we sat down with noted author Robert Renteria for a great conversation. His book 'From The Barrio To The Boardroom' is well-known & has become widely respected. Growing up in the barrio of East LA, Mr. Renteria's journey has been a long and storied one. He is a US Army veteran, successful businessman and the founder of the Barrio Foundation. His focus has been on the positive and upward development of youth and his series of books are geared towards just that. The title work is now in it's second edition and is available as a graphic novel. An honorary doctorate, Robert's work continues to take him around the globe with new opportunities and ambitions. This was not our first time meeting Robert, our first was while taking part in a local social justice meeting. We're glad to have met Robert and we commend him on all he does for our youth, humanity and the people he comes in contact with. This man is changing lives!
Shouts go out to the American Legion and all veterans in the City of Aurora, our friends over at Aurora Business United & Aurora Tap House. Much love goes out to the Aurora Regional Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and to Two Brothers. Thank you to James, Big Will & Chad (you know who you are). So many shout outs, so little time; McCarty Mills, Cotton Seed Creative Exchange and the Unruly Artist. We're proud to bring the news to our listeners on a daily basis and we're proud to be doing what we do for the city of Aurora. It's Breast Cancer & Domestic Violence Awareness month so please donate or support both causes if you can. Be blessed, strong, empathetic and motivated; and stay tuned. We've got much, much more coming!

  • Monday | 10/12/2020 | Chicano Day Special w/ Good Morning Aurora

We did things special today for Monday, we had fellow community partner Chicano back on the show for part 2! When last we spoke he had many things going on and today was no different. This brother has been up to a lot since last we spoke. From advocating for Aurora businesses to sitting down for a few cups of coffee in the morning, the man doesn’t stop! Most recently, Chicano was at Taco Movil doing his thing and also at Muebleria Furniture. On today’s episode we spoke about the A-Town Boxing Club and all of its wonderful activities. This is an initiative that has done a lot for the community until the pandemic forced it to temporarily cease. Rest assured it is still alive and well and the plan is to broaden its scope. There was also a round of applause for our friend for his recent appointment to the Aurora Public Art Commission! This man is dedicated!

Shouts out go to all those struggling with loneliness and those other unseen issues; Good Morning Aurora has you back. Special thanks go to our friends at AMVETS Post 103, Mutual Ground and the Fox Valley United Way. Get out and vote, it’s your duty! Also, very special thank you to all Aurora veterans and to Raiz, MECHA & the Aurora Rapid Response Team. Don’t forget its’ Domestic Violence & Breast Cancer Awareness Month. • Friday | 10/9/2020 | Music Friday on GMA: Matthew Ripsch Jams Out

It was another great music day today on the show and we were joined by Matthew Ripsch! Only a Freshman in high school, Matthew has an old soul combined with great music taste. Recently he played at Wyckwood House on First Friday and that's how we became familiar with him. Hailing from Yorkville, he's played at Law Office and many other venues. It was very fascinating to watch Matthew play, sing and inform us on the guitar today. We also spoke about music styles, favorite guitarists and what his plans are for the future. The current pandemic has upended the lives and plans of many musicians, including Matthew. We do hope that things turn around for Matthew and he continues doing what he loves, making great music!

Shouts for the day go out to all the teachers and educators out there. Extra shouts go to all parents helping keep the dreams and aspirations alive. Aurora Downtown, Chicano's Times, Aurora Public Art, the Aurora Public Library and the Aurora Township. Don't forget that Monday 12th is another pop-up food pantry hosted by the City of Aurora. It's also breast cancer awareness month & domestic violence month as well. Free leaf collection begins on the 19th and ends December 4th so rake those leaves up and get them hauled away for free. Community listening sessions are also taking place, the next one is scheduled for October 15th at St. Therese Church (271 N. Farnsworth). Be motivated, safe & blessed this weekend. We'll see you all on Monday morning for more great news and interviews!

  • Thursday | 10/8/2020 | Life, Liberty & Law: Jamie Mosser Returns on GMA!

And just like that, another great episode with a friend of the show, Jamie Mosser (candidate for Kane County State's Attorney)! When last we spoke with Jamie she was meeting with constituents and interested Kane County residents on a daily basis. Well, that hasn't quit! She's been very busy but she also has been the spearhead behind the Citizens Review Board. The purpose of the board is to address the systemic issues between police and communities of color on a thought-provoking and positive way. And that's EXACTLY what is taking place. Its about dialogue, coming together, listening & understanding. So many times, ordinary citizens unfamiliar with the legal process feel as if there is no concern for their thoughts. They feel left out of the process. Even more poignantly, they may feel that the system is against them. Today we put those questions and concerns directly to Jamie and she answered them for us. Knowledge is power: but so is accountability, fairness and social justice. Good Morning Aurora appreciates all candidates who take the time to speak to the people. We appreciate the work being done by Jamie to move our county, and country, forward in a safe and equitable fashion.

Did you vote yet? That's the shout out of the day at the moment. Early voting is taking place in downtown Aurora at the Kane County Clerk Office (5 E. Downer Pl, Suite F). Get out there and vote, it's very important and it's our civic duty. This month is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Let us all lend our voices to the causes of those seeking help, relief and compassion of Breast Cancer & Domestic Violence. Much love, thank you and shouts to the American Legion, Tredwell Coffee & the Aurora Public Art Commission. Special thanks also go out to our staff, listeners and supporters. Thank you to all of our subscribers; we've got so much more coming for you! Once again, get out there and vote! Be blessed, motivated and positive today! See you tomorrow for another great episode!

  • Wednesday | 10/7/2020 | Healing to Healthy on Good Morning Aurora w/ Amy Downing & Susan Romero

Not even a routine fire alarm check could stop today's momentum! The importance of health, the emphasis on well-being and favorite coffee locations; today was a lot of fun! In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month we sat down with Susan Romano and Amy Downing of Healing 2 Healthy, a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit. These ladies are immersed in all things Aurora and they also spend their time guiding and helping other women. Care, compassion, a sense of "self-worth"; what people need is not always on display. How are we addressing the inner-most thoughts, concerns and insecurities of others? Are we able to adequately understand what a diagnosis of breast cancer means to a woman? From the strides being made to educate the current and future generations of women, to being wives & mothers: these women are leaders. Check out their website which is https://healing2healthy.com/ and also follow their Facebook & Instagram pages. We're glad to have women like this in our great city and Good Morning Aurora supports the cause of women everywhere.

Special shouts go out to all the caring, determined and compassionate women out there making positive changes. Please keep your health in mind (diet, exercise, mammograms, etc.) and reach out for help when you need it. Shouts also go out to Delnor Hospital and Rush Copley Medical Center. So many shout outs, so many positive vibes & much much more to come! Community Development Block Grant Information has been posted so check it out. Stay tuned for another great episode tomorrow and please take care of yourself. Let us take a moment to reflect on the women affcted by Breast Cancer and let's do all we can to support and uplift them. Be safe, be blessed, be motivated, dedicated & healthy on this Wednesday. We will see you all tomorrow morning for more fun! Peace!
