  • Wednesday | 11/4/2020 | Life, Dedication & C.U.P.S.: A Conversation w/ Cynthia Morales

It was a discussion about dedication, family and doing your best this morning. We were honored to have Cynthia Morales on the show today for a great interview. She is the founder of CUPS (nonprofit) and she is a woman on the move for sure! After losing her mother to breast cancer, Cynthia has taken her mother’s lessons and teaching to heart. In this interview we spoke about family, parenting and the benefits of helping others. We first met Cynthia at the Aurora Regional Fire Museum during her drive. She put on a great event and we got to meet her vendors as well. All in a day’s work for a strong latina!

Shouts out to the American Legion and our friends at AutoZone. Don’t forget that 1st Friday is going to be primarily virtual this weekend. Mitigation efforts are in full effect so be sure to stay safe. Don’t forget about the Senior Meal Distribution taking place on the 9th of this month at the Aurora Police Department. • Tuesday | 11/3/2020 | Election Day! A Discussion & More

Today we got an update on Aurora Business United and talked about the election. Vote, vote, vote; as we have stated for months. Alderman and candidate for Aurora mayor Judd Lofchie came on to the show to talk with us today. Due to the pandemic the activities of Aurora Business United have moved online and are virtual. They still do great things and they are a good resource for the city and business professionals. There are currently mitigation efforts in place in Kane & DuPage counties, we ask about that and resident issues. There are more things that unite us rather than divide us so we need to make that felt in our votes.

Shouts go out to our friends at All Spoked Up and Cotton Seed Creative Exchange. Shout out to Aurora Public Art and all artists in the city. Much love to the GAR museum and the Aurora Historical Society. Thank you for all you do and there’s so much more to come. Stay safe and get out there and vote! Much love to our friends at Tredwell and McCarty Mills. REFS Productions, Art Hooligans and all that. Be safe, blessed and motivated. Peace!

  • Monday | 11/2/2020 | Capturing The Image: A Conversation w/ Mr. Perry Slade on GMA

Catching the image and being featured in a great book, all in a day’s work with Mr. Perry Slade. As a friend of the show this is our 2nd time crossing paths with Mr. Slade. He is a great man to learn from and know and he is a top-notch photographer. Here in Aurora we have much talent and Mr. Slade is a part of the Chicago Alliance of African American Photographers. His black and white photogra[hy is what he’s most known for and his images really take on a life of their own. There’s a book called: the Journey: the next 100 years that Mr. Slade is featured in & it documents the black experience. Creativity abounds within the people we come across, and we count Mr. Slade as a great asset!

Shouts go out to ACTS (A Call To Shoulders) and our friends at AMETS. Shouts go to Cotton Seed & Crystal House and VizoArts. Vote, vote, vote; The message is get out there and vote! The life of a media relations specialist was the focus of discussion today. We were honored to sit down with Desiree Battaglia of Northwestern Medicine this morning and learn from her. This was Desiree’s second time on the show, her first was way back! So you could also call it a flashback Friday! From prepping doctors and nurses for interviews to capturing the stories of patients, Desiree is certainly on the move! We spoke about professionalism and how to succeed in business and life. Additionally, we talked about the changes to her job due to the pandemic and what work is like now. For so many of us, our lives have been turned upside down. How do we get back to a ‘sense of normalcy’? Or, will we ever? These topics and more are what we explored and we had such a great chat. We also talked about wine and food as well!

  • Thursday | 10/29/2020 | From Elgin to Aurora: A Conversation w/ Anthony 4 Elgin

We learned about public service, the city of Elgin and a commitment to constituents today. We had the great opportunity to speak with Anthony Ortiz, candidate for Elgin City Council today. As we talked we got to learn about Anthony’s background and what his vision is for his city. As a Marine Corps veteran, he has served his country and now he continues his service. Transparency & increased services for residents are just a few things Anthony has in mind for Elgin. Being a candidate during a pandemic is certainly hard so we got the full experience from Anthony about the benefits of virtual. Many individuals are not aware of people who are running or what they stand for. They are also unsure about where to turn for help. All of these things can be better strengthened and we commend Anthony for his efforts. Elgin has a smaller population than Aurora, so voter turnout is key!

Shouts go to the GAR Museum, Tredwell & ACTS (A Call Ro Shoulders). Also special thanks for our friends at Cotton Seed and the Kane County Sheriff's Office. Don’t forget to take part in the C.H.A.N.G.E. Initiative listening sessions, the next is this evening at Impact Church. Shout out to the Aurora Public Art Commission and don’t forget its Breast Cancer & Domestic Violence Awareness month as well. Be helpful to others and be strong; tune in tomorrow for another great episode. Luigi’s on Halloween and more fun activities to come! Oh and don't forget to vote!
