Do you afford a greater level of trust to social media accounts with a “verified” status? The European Union’s regulators have accused X of breaching the Digital Services Act (DSA) by misleading users and committing other violations. One of the biggest points of contention is X’s approach to verified accounts. The European Commission noted that X’s current system allows anyone to subscribe for a “verified” status, which has been exploited by those with malicious intent to deceive users.
