Lester Kiewit speaks to Professor Carlos Lopes, an Honorary Professor at the Nelson Mandela School of Public Governance, at UCT. He has been championing a resolution to have the world’s maps redrawn to accurately depict the size and scale of Africa. Now The United Nations General Assembly has voted in favour of giving Africa its rightful size on maps of the world. The "Correct the Map" resolution was sponsored by Togo, as well as the African Union. The resolution to redraw the world’s maps was passed with the support of 164 nations.

A few days ago, Lester Kiewit spoke to Dave Algie, a New Zealand rugby fan based in the UK who created the Raeburn Shield, an unofficial championship trophy that goes to the current "rugby champion" based on a lineage traced all the way back to the first ever international rugby game between Scotland and England in 1871. Lester Kiewit speaks to Tara Roos, CapeTalk commentator and Business Day political correspondent, about the latest news coming out of Parliament, including the latest developments in President Cyril Ramaphosa’s legal challenge to the Section 89 independent panel’s Phala Phala report.

Ramaphosa’s legal team, led by Wim Trengove SC, argues that the panel applied the wrong legal test when it found sufficient evidence to justify an impeachment inquiry and failed to properly assess the President’s version of events.

The ATM, EFF and MK Party are opposing the review, although they each put forward different arguments about the role of the courts and Parliament in the impeachment process.

With the Constitutional Court having revived the process and public hearings currently halted by the High Court, Tara explains the key legal arguments and what the court’s decision could mean for the future of the Phala Phala inquiry.
