Dr. Pete warned us about the dangers of giving rawhide to dogs. He also terrified us by educating us about rabies. A cheerier story was of a 74-year-old bird named Wisdom who has laid an egg just recently.

Charlie spoke of Colius, Poinsettias and more.

Jacobi described an experiment for determining whether anyone carries cash in New York City. It seems he proved they do not.

Gary did well when given Rosemary's trivia questions from the first hour. The topic was the movie White Christmas. We then heard all about that movie, and its predecessor, Holiday Inn. Then Gary convinced us that Bing Crosby is the most talented entertainer of all time.

We had more Christmas bumper music, but no polkas.

Jaime Smith came on to tell us lots and lots about spices.

Gary Shapiro, who admitted to not liking Christmas music, was with us as well. We learned that Lou Costello and one of the stooges, Shemp, once joined forces to do actual rapping. We always learn something when Gary joins us.

Rachael Shelton told us about how she is used as a remote traveling companion via cell phone. 

We were joined in the studio by many members of the Cabrillo Symphonic Choir. Cheryl Anderson, the director, is retiring this year. This is the 34th straight year she has joined Rosemary with the choir to share Christmas music. They performed many carols today for our listeners. Merry Christmas.

Then assembly member Gail Pellerin told us about the swearing in ceremony in the assembly, likening it to the first day of a new school year. The assembly is very nearly an even mix of men and women now.

Jaime Smith gave us an insider's look at what goes on in a professional kitchen. The head chef barks out instructions to the cooks who repeat the order back to him or her, just like Rosemary had seen on TV. He described the challenge of juggling several orders at one time, trying to time things right to hit eleven minutes from fire to server. For him this year, thanksgiving dinner will be lobster by the pool for two, just like the pilgrims did it.

Susan O'Connor-Fraser joined us in the studio. She is the president of Think Local First Santa Cruz. She shared many ideas for supporting local businesses during the holidays.

Rachael sang the "Hey Mister Turkey" song with us. Her Grandma was apparently extra grouchy on Thanksgivings, but perhaps with good reason. We talked about grand catios and bird feeder cameras, as well as the list she is keeping of things to do once she is past final exams.

State senator John Laird discussed winning re-election, his altered district which includes new parts of San Benito County, and also the fact that the senate is now more women than men. The assembly is within three people of being equally men and women.

Mark Mozena joined us to talk about space. NASA are wondering how their role might change once the next administration is in place. Will SpaceX get all the work, or will they still be in the game? Blue Origin's massive New Glenn could launch by end of year. Mark says it will either resemble a giant skyscraper climbing into the sky, or it will make a really spectacular explosion. There is a mystery in space. the Russians report a "strange odor" coming form their cargo spacecraft. Finally, Earth’s mini moon says goodbye after two months. Bye-bye, 2024 PT5.

Dr. Pete was asked what might cause a dog to just lie down and refuse to walk. He told us of spondylitis. He also introduced us to Snitch the dog and discussed cats bearing gifts.

In the good news we heard of a blind man gifted a shoe in the subway and of a boy who called 9-1-1 looking for help with his math homework, and got it.

Charlie schooled us on how to prepare plants to avoid frost damage.
