We have all been hurt. Trust is broken. Scripture is clear that we are to forgive. We can either choose forgiveness or bitterness. In the Parable of the Unforgiving Servant, Christ shows us our need to forgive:

A. Our forgiveness must be unlimited

B. It must be modeled after God’s forgiveness of us.

C. We must remember the dangers of not forgiving:

1. We will not be forgiven.

2. We open the door to Satan (Ephesians 4:26-27)

3. We will carry the burden of an unforgiving spirit which tortures us.

4. We will hinder our relationship with God and individuals.

Forgiveness brings freedom!

It brings closure!

It brings Life!

Each of us lives with regrets... Some of us never move to true repentance. In this passage we see the difference between worldly sorrow and godly sorrow. Godly sorrow leads to repentance, salvation and leaves no regret. Worldly sorrow leads to death and produces guilt, hopelessness, and despair. The evidences of repentance produces: a new desire to live a godly life disgust at their offensive life, a fear of God, a longing to be in a right relationship with God, and a desire to make restitution.... For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death.
