We're in the season of family in our life so far this year. What I mean by that is there is a closeness, despite the physical distance, that is seen, felt and expressed often and it is the very best feeling!! We've had family come to visit in Texas, I've been to Utah and we have family in town now even!! My mom-in-law is a HUGE supporter of this podcast and I know she's listening when I wonder if anyone actually is. My cousin's talked to me about the show and shared some of their relatable struggles. This was almost the never the case in my previous life...

I've expressed before that I felt judged and rejected by my family. I felt like I wasn't good enough for them. The problem with that was-they never expressed those feelings. They missed me and worried about me. It was me that Judged and rejected them. That is until I took a ling hard look at my own thoughts and actions, my perceptions of others and choose to look again. Change the way you look at things, and the things you look at change! I just had the best visit to Utah for my little brother's wedding. I got to spend time with my grandma's. I got to dance with my niece and nephew. I LOVED getting to spend alone time with my dad. Because I was willing to. They didn't change to fit my idea of who they should be, how often they should call or visit. I chose to love them exactly like they are. What a relief and a blessing!!

I want to encourage you to pick up the phone. Call and ask about their day, their friends, hobbies, memories-whatever. Just put aside what you want from them and show up as who you want to be. Give them the love you desire. Be the change. You may not get what you want, but you may feel better knowing you tried.
